  • @MrBazboro They both have fire suits on, who's the idiot ?? They only wear head gear for nitro cars

  • MY B-DAY IS ON 29th of may

  • That's how to burn a clutch out!!!

  • Seems as if it was still pumping fuel, took them long enough to get to the car with a decent fucking extinguisher..

  • and hey kids thats why you dont smoke and drive!! xD

  • it was totalled

  • why did'nt someone go to the back and cut the power off?

  • Hey firetruck, thanks for showing up, eventually.

  • carefull, there is an engine falling out of the skies!

  • It wasn't only race fuel that made this fire even bigger than it was. add the nitrous that they didnt turn off, after i heard he didnt turn off the power on the car.

  • They went majorly wrong by using the water... Powder fire extinguisher would have helped alot, But once that race fuel goes up, nothing much you can do about it.

  • ..which is what one the fire crew should have done first while the other one made sure the driver was out. Then tackled the fire which possibly would have been extinguished with the entry level CO2 units they had as the pump would not have continued to feed the flames with race fuel. Crew’s fault which resulted in a $100k hot rod burning down..

  • it's what happens when you don't shut the fuel pump(s) off.

  • Poor little '55.

  • That's alot of money gone into flames.

  • did he die?

  • @AznMaster24 You saw him walk out of the car??

  • @AznMaster24 no.

  • هنا التنظيم من جد في اقل من دقيقتين طفو النار

اما عندنا يجلسون اقل شي ساعة ونص

    Good luck

  • Time to get a new engine!

  • i wonder what happen if the car blow up , looks dangerous especially to those guys who trying to pull off the fire ~

  • Dang..at first it was small and there were like, eh we got this..then boom. ohh shit put it out put it out..

  • Dam was right next to that, fire actually burnt couple of us. Henri Joosten put his savings into that, such a shame to see it go up in flames. Good shot tho, suprised how many caught it on camera! doesn't do the initial bang justice tho lol.

  • This happened right in front of us and was very spectacular. Poor driver had been racing with that car for 27 years and now can't carry on as he would wish to as he can't afford to rebuild. If there is anybody out there who is rich please give this very brave man his dream back.

  • CUT OFF THE POWER DUMBASS

  • @tank94ify lol idiot the power is off just cus u turn the power of the flame is already lit theres no stopping it ,

  • @ForceCreationz power cuts off the fuel pump you dumb donkey rapping shit eater

  • @tank94ify yes iknow but the flame was already lit turining of the power doesnt put out the flame. Come back when you learn not to be stupid

  • Comment removed

  • @tank94ify the fuel pump doesnt run off the same supply as the car ? you really think theyre gonna run that tiny fuel pump off the same big block v8 that powers the car ? nice one mate ;) !! besides that was a nitrous backfire it had nothing to do with the fuel to start with ?

oh and also the battery killswitch is on the back bumper of the car ? soo if you woulda wanted to run up to the back of the car to turn it off i wouldnt stop you ;)

  • @tank94ify and one final point ? if you listen he shuts off the car straight after it bangs ;) ? mabye if you actually listened to the video and paid attention instead of claiming you wouldaa saved the car as hees soo stupid for bothering to get out of a flaming car rather than save it an risk his life ? ....... bet you feel dead clever now mate ;) !!

  • @TheIMPACTDESIGNS just so you know mate, he didnt 'shut the car off" the fucking intake exploded it shut it self off. cheers

  • NOS

  • why didnt the driver get out earlier

i dont know anything about these types of cars and im just asking

  • @ccaian1 started off as smoke, = fire is the signal you run out of your car at, take another look :)

  • Now that's car-b-que. Really sad to see one get away like that. Main thing is all involved are still standing. We have the technology to replace cars- not quite there yet with people.

  • Better than mine.

    Thanks for the reply.

  • Good camera.

What is it? cos I'm looking for one.

  • @kletops46

It's a Lumix FZ38. It's quite an old model now. I think there are FZ50 and FZ100 models now.

  • Awwww why does all the cool stuff happen when i dont go to santa pod, ah well mabye something exciting will happen at the finals ^_^

  • @AwsomeAthiest

Same here! we thought it would be raining all day :(

  • Great fotage @woodleymartin, I'll defenitely use it in my next fire marshal training course! The fire crew did a good job with the stuff they have, a bit of bad luck i.e. loosing pressure to the watertank system for the hoses, it's one of those cases where 1+1=8 *sigh* And that the shut off valve didnt engage (was missing?) is quite evident by your fotage. Nitrous fires are all but impossible to put out without massive amounts of water... Kudos to the Pod team!

  • imagine filling in the insurance form on that :L

  • they responded so quick was amazing...thank god the driver got out...was a fantastic weekend!

  • the fire crews are brilliant there i had burp after i launched and they used co2 it was out in seconds it was the nitrous pouring out that cuased all the damage it should of had automtic cut of at bottle and same with fuel and they would off stood a chance once the driver was out they could of walked away and let it burn out they didnt they stuck it out and did a good job it easy for people to have a moan this all happened in less than 3 minutes

  • did anyone notice the fire truck engine after the fire.

    fire truck: sorry guys m25

  • I can't believe I missed this, was stood on the banking all morning watching racing then decided to go back to caravan for some dinner ... heard this on nitro fm and could see the black smoke coming from the track, just glad driver got out okay.

  • i cant believe i missed this to watch titan the robot instead...

  • watch my coverage in HD at,

    /watch?v=eUExLuBDG4k

  • Fantastic work by the fire crew. They were on it before the car had even stopped. Not to mention in conditions that were very windy, even by Santa Pod standards.

  • Everyone on here is quick enough to critisise the fire crew

Most people on here are quick enough to critisise the fire crew, if it wasn't for them the situation could of been alot worse, if the car had of blew up. At least no-one was injured. I take my hat off to all the staff at Santa Pod they give up their weekends, put in alot of time and effort just so all of us can enjoy the racing. No-one could pridict this was going to happen.

  • well that car won't be back.

  • Search for pro mod nitrous fire in las vegas on youtube

Then tell us whether we wasn't properly equiped for the situation, note how much longer it took them to put out the fire.

  • Comment removed

  • @TSI606 I Think the specific incident in Vegas was a PSCA event and not NHRA. Netherless the Vegas one should of been more prepared.

  • @alvin5516 or superchevy.

  • @alvin5516 They havn't even got a startline fire crew in the states

  • ornage car was a try hard

  • @voldermort82 The hosereel lance on the quad bike was the only decent piece of kit they had. At least it was able to reach the seat of the fire. As for the nitrous oxide fire. Nitrous oxide is non flammable. It's an oxidant so was cancelling out the C02. The fire triangle, remove one and the fire goes out. So they needed to either cover the fuel in a blanket of foam or powder or reduce the heat with the foam. That's science for you I'm afraid.

  • it was horrid!

    v sad :(

  • @altitude5550 not a bad idea then maybe they can also tell their marshals not to stand down wind in the smoke when fighting the fire. Mmmm burning fibreglass not to great for the lungs

  • @Conner2520 this is a genuine suggestion. pop up to santa pod one day, introduce yourself and speak to the fire crew. i'm sure they're open to anything that's going to improve safety and if you can give them some insight they might even offer you a job

  • @voldermort82 I've prob put out more car fires than you have had hot dinners. I guarantee my crew and me could had that fire out before the flare up. C02 would fail everytime. If the C02 had been affective the flare up would never of happened. I've been through the training so I think I can comment on how wrongly equipped they are

  • Comment removed

  • @Conner2520 Sorry I didn't realise that you were trained in drag racing fire fighting. These guys work with these cars all the time, they know what they're doing. Most fires I've seen there can (AND ARE) dealt with CO2 just fine, and I've been going for 20 years. No extinguisher would have put that thing out while you had nitrous oxide pissing into it and gale force winds fanning it.

  • @voldermort82 I agree about the crew, they are very quick to respond and are very good, however Santa Pod needs to provide better equipment. There are too many cars running nitrous systems for the crews to not be able to deal with a nitrous fire. I just hope they learn from this and improve the equipment soon

  • I hate fires.

  • Comment removed

  • @altitude5550 CO2 is fine for small fires which it was to begin with. And in terms of being able to deal with a nitrous fire, I stopped seeing flames within a minute of it really flaring up.

In terms of a fire engine do you have any idea how slow that would actually be? If a fire engine had turned up when everyone else did the fire would already be out by the time the hose was connected, water pump up to pressure, etc. Plus that red bike is a lot more effective on a fire than you realise.

  • @altitude5550 look at other nitrous fires, see how long they take to go out. a car fire that the fire brigade would put out takes them a hell of a longer.

i happen to know a bit about the nozzle on the red bike, search for firexpress.

  • Great work by the fire crew, just one thing that worried me during this fire fight is why none of them tried to help the driver to get out. If he would be hurt in some way, luckily he wasn't he would burn inside alive... I think priority was the driver than the car. I am sure fire crew learned from this a lot.

  • @Mahartinba I'm guessing they saw he was already getting out before it stopped, he probably knew what was coming!

  • so therefore the fire crew and safety crew did a bloody good job and did all they can do! so quit having a bitch fit about that the fire crew are useless and have crappy equipment. :)

  • there's nothing wrong with the extunguisers they have the first bit of the fire went then it went bigger the bigger bit is the nitrous oxide burning along with the magnesium in the engine burning a standard co2 bottle will never put that out neither will foam or powder.

  • Maybe the owners of Santa pod will think about buying the correct extinguishers for the fires they have then maybe the fire marshals may stand half a chance. That fire could have been put out in the first stages with a decent AFFF extinguisher. All those C02's done was kill the oxygen for a split second only for it to reignite.

  • go onto flickr and search 'henri joosten explosion'

i got a fair few good photos (KitMyers) and saw how it looked in the tent after the burn, feel well bad for the guy but then again at least one day he CAN go racing again!!

  • I am in tht video at the fence on the bankside. The explosion was pretty loud and i thought the fire crew did pretty well. There wasnt much more they could of done.

  • Quick to respond yes. But may I say terrible fire fighting skills and terrible equipment. One of the hosereels wasn't even working I could have pee'd faster. C02 extinguisher no AFFF or powder on that type of fire I think you will find

  • @Conner2520

"But may I say terrible fire fighting skills and terrible equipment" No, you may not. Compare this to similar fires and you'll see it was out bloody quick. I thought the fire crew did a brilliant job, the training they must do to deal with that fire so well boggles the mind and the kit is better than you see at most circuit stuff!

"C02 extinguisher no AFFF or powder on that type of fire I think you will find" No, you will not find that.

  • The Santa pod team did really well with their quick response!

  • I went today, they spoke about a big fire ! hat to check it out! No crahes or fires today, but wind speed was like 50 mph so bike had a few problems

  • amazing,, i was on the bank... looked like it was going to blow up at one point, amazing job by the track crew

  • I was standing right next to the car when the engine exploded!, a part from the hood seemed to go almost over the grandstand!, I have a video of the car close up after the fire, shows the extent of damage quite well, I will post it up within a day or two. heading off to prescott hill climb tomorrow though so will post after that probs... I didn't see henri joosten get out though. but that car sure went up quickly... THAT WAS MY FAVOURITE CAR ASWELL!

  • Excellent video, glad the driver got out safely i was watching on the webcam when this happened

  • This was terrible to witness, I was filming from the bank. Good Henri Joosten got out okay but that is the end of that car.

  • @ itsonlymeee1, I think that the marshalls emptied a couple of CO2 extinguishers on the car very quickly. It was VERY windy at the track so I guess that this affected their efficiency? Perhaps powder would have been more effective but the car was a gonner after about 30 seconds to be honest. Thankfully the driver got out okay.....

  • Jaa, ruggigt nära!

  • And what i can see there are non ho cutz the power in the rere so the fuel pumps are probley runing and the nitro oxide hoses are probly brokend at the front.

  • =( time fore a bigger fire truck at the race way ????

  • i watched this, amazing what can happen so quickly... why the hell did the fire guys spray the thing with water@ 1.20??! he made it worse....surely you should use foam and co2 for that sort of fire .. id be mad if that was my car

  • @Itsonlymeee1 it was the nitro igniting

i was watching from the bank so it looked scary

  • @Ps3Reviews40 it was the Nitrous Oxide not nitro, the term Nitro refers to nitro methane
