@EleSkelter There's nothing ironic about it really. During their live show they talked about how the Partridge Family TV show was based on their real family.... however, since the Partridges aren't a REAL band they can't play their music... so the Cowsills do us the honor, since they ARE a real band. And they do a heckuva job with "I Think I Love You". Shirley Jones and David Cassidy are proud.
I use to work with Paul and Bud on a drilling rig off the coast of California in Goleta near Santa Barbara . Paul was a roustabout and Bud was the rig Mechanic this was in 1981 and 1982. The rig was the Glomar Java Sea
There is 4 of the originals still performing. John is drummer for the beach boys and I think they have a brother or 2 that didnt perform. I know they had a younger brother that wanted to perform but carried the bags. I think there was hard feelings there. Barry and Bill past away along witht the parents way to soon. However these 3 rock !! So true to there roots ! Awesome !
Nobody needs to tone down anything. They sound better now that in the 60's. I really like a hard-hitting drummer. And Susan, I'll be your baby anytime!
John Cowsill is still alive, but he plays drums for the "Beach Boys" (Mike Love and Bruce Johnston), and that is probably why he isn't playing with his siblings.
@pacho54 The Cowsills are alive and well and still performing. I saw them play last night in Ledyard, Connecticut. They put on a great show as this clip shows! Just the three original members, Susan, Paul and Bob plus a backup band consisting of other family members. Brother John is part of the Beach Boys band since 2000 and doesn't tour with the Cowsills. Yes, Barry died in Katrina, and Bill has passed away too.
@blbeachgoer Bill died in 2006. That might be John on drums here. They went through hell being blackballed so that more attention would go to The Partridge Family. DJs were ordered to not announce that "Hair" was sang by The Cowsills.
"River Blue" is a kick-ass tune that The Cowsills own 2/3 writing credit for, but it's not on Best Of albums because Bill and his surviving wife had a rift with the brothers and sister.
@blbeachgoer Barry died in Katrina and his body wasnt found until dec of 05,Billy died feb of 06 from alot of problems with his health, mom died in 85 from cancer and I think the father died in 92 from Leukemia.
The cowsills are coming back to western canada. Oct 24 at the Deerfoot Casino in Calgary, AB and Oct 25 at the Dakota Dunes Casino in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Paul is better suited playing the keys or at least a tamborine, rather than jumping around the stage like an idiot. I saw them doing "Hair" live while he was at the keys and it was the best performance I'd ever seen!
The Cowsills are playing the Palace Theatre in Marion Ohio with Jay And The Americans on Oct.4 . Its a beautiful old theatre and about one hour from Columbus.
Cowsills were excellent at BB Kings. Paul, Susan & Bob, all sang better than they did in the 60s. So many great songs...Hair, The Rain The Park (2x), We Can Fly, Indian Lake, Most Of All, Poor Baby, You're not the same girl, Monday Monday, Be My Baby, Love American Style, I Think I Love You, Helpless Hoping,
Deliver Me, Cross The Line, Under The Gun, Just Believe It, Going Home, River Of Love. Wonderful.
Susan, John, Paul, Bob and his twin Richard.Bill died (cancer) and Barry (Katrina)

Barbara (the mum) died from emphysema in 1985.
Bud (the father) died from leukaemia in 1992.
Barry was presumed drowned in New Orleans from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Bill died in February 2006, the day before a memorial service for Barry.
