You would follow the Lord??? Then live his Holy Laws..i.e. Celestial Plural Marriage and United Order, then you will begin to understand about Love!!! The Love of ZION..The Pure In Heart.
@YoungSouthernBelle that is a very common misunderstanding of the church. Other faiths accuse us of being "Antichrist" because we believe that God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are all three separate beings. While most other religions believe them all to be one being. Of course we believe in God and Jesus Christ hence the name "the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints".
(continued). I did come out to them a couple hours after church, and just before leaving their house. They weren't surprised - they'd been stalking me on fb, haha. He still loved me as a sister (as did his wife), but he was very diplomatic about whether he thought it was "right" or "wrong". We talked for 1 & 1/2 hours.
Often times both sides of this debate are inane. Being gay is not a choice! The "lifestyle" is only the choice to be happy. I've yet to meet a happy, gay Mormon.
I remember singing this song beside my brother and his wife a couple months ago. I went to visit them for a couple of days. I asked many people for advice, they all gave the same - do what my gut feeling says. I was debating whether 2 come out to him/them as gay. I didn't want to go to church with them, but figured it'd be a good place 2 think. This was the last song of Sacrament and I got the feeling I should come out. I had been crying quite a bit during the past couple of hours about it...
If people paid more attention to the spirit of this song instead of the political aspects of the LDS church, perhaps the spirit of the Lord could teach them something significant. This song applies to Christians everywhere, and if they would all just listen instead of criticizing or holding grudges, they'd feel the same peace that many people have felt from listening to this song. That's worth more than getting a one-up in an inane internet argument.
@nicocowood trust me when i say there are plenty of African American women/men in our church. The truth is there is diversity everywhere, we all have to choose to come together as one. I have been to African American churches as well where there are not many races and now im sitting here imagining the two different styles of music combined.OM what a wonderful thing it would be, it would bring together so many different types of people to the same place to talk about whats important, God.
Me gusta mucho este Himno por que expresa la disposicion de ante todo querer seguir al Salvador a pesar de nuestras debilidades ser humildes y estar dispuestos a cambiar y amar mas como lo hizo EL...Saludos desde Arequipa Peru.
"who am I to judge another when I walk imperfectly, in the quiet hart is hidden sorrow that the eye can't see" The stance that the church has taken on gay marrige is compleatly different than the principles laid out by its founder Joseph Smith. Look at the 11th article of faith and read what Joseph Smith had to say about letting people "live according to the dictates of their own consence". Look it up in the teachings of the profits book that was studied for two years a couple years ago.
@ryanland1 I believe Joseph Smith would have encouraged members today to "live according to the dictates of their own conscience" and use that very God-given agency to vote on a proposition as a citizen in a representative republic. And loving somebody does not mean that you have to support their chosen lifestyle! In fact, pure love makes it possible to judge righteously, which Jesus Christ himself did on many occasions.
@jannikmt This hymn isn't meant to be upbeat. This is supposed to be reverent. I wouldn't have this hymn any other way than it already is. The reverence of this hymn makes me feel an overwhelming spirit.
I am a new mormon i was baptised 01.05.2010. I do not know all the hymns just yet, but this hymn is beautiful and brings tears tears to my eyes. poss one of my faves. x
@Jerrykins1991 i am very happy for you i was born into the church and i still feel that way but you might feel it more cause you are most likely not use to the spirt being so strong and i wish you luck in all that you do and that jesus and heavenly father will help you along your spiritual journey .
@Jerrykins1991 Its a lovely hymn cool to see another baptised this year I was baptised in Jan. Few months ago I sang this hymn in a Stake conference Choir hence why I was practicing few months ago.
@Jerrykins1991 Congrats and welcome! I hope that your new congregation has wrapped its arms around you and helped you feel the love of the Savior. God bless.

To see and listen to a Mormon woman, whom one can truly respect, and who has evolved in a civilized and humane manner, watch the YouTube video:
"Marie Osmond on her lesbian daughter Jessica and gay rights" by Planeto54
Methinks Marie Osmond has come a long way, and I admire her.

@ryanland1 Am I judging a suicidal person if I speak out against suicide? You can judge against sin but still love the sinner. =)

Some parts are too high for men, but a base voice is too low for women... guess we need them both!
