I bought one of these last year. It is louder than hell, more importantly completely annoying to be near. Is it the final solution to theft? No, but in certain situations it is a good deterrent. Something to consider- it's pretty light- for bicyclists may be a plus since no lock is 100% undefeatable, may as well get one that makes noise.
What is the point of an alarm for cars & motorcycles anymore? People hear them all of the time. Do you think someone is going to hear your alarm & call the cops, and the cops will get there in 2 minutes and catch the thief? The alarm is fine if you are close enough to hear it, but no one is going to react if they hear an alarm, and thieves all have methods of dealing with alarms, can pick or break locks, etc. I simply take the handle bars with me. No one can ride it away.

Thieves usually just walk of on a alarm lock because they will panic faster. They don't like attention remember? If they have all the time of the world to pick/break one it's easy, if the alarm goes of for a straight 5 minutes you gonna have some annoyed people looking at you and I don't know which thief keeps on stealing when people look at him.
I heard an alarm with an AWESOME tone the other day- it used the vehicle's horn, honking it as if it was your girlfriend all pissed off waiting for you outside, frantic! Everyone was stopping to look and see what was happening.
Man, I hate that kind of impatient horn honking! That is probably the only bad thing about living in the suburbs of a big city in Mexico: most people arrive to pick up a neighbor for work, and instead of wallking to the door & knocking, they just start blasting the horn until the person comes out. For thief alarm: Perhaps a silent alarm is best, one that alerts the bike owner by pager. Then you just go deal with the thief in-person(to do a peaceful or aggressive attitude adjustment).
From what ive heard because the 120 bd alarm has a speaker hole people can cover it with there hand and muffle it a lot. i wanted to get the xena disk lock/ alarm but i dont know. i live in a sketchy area any recomendations for anti theft device.
i am guessing that is why there is a five second delay beacause of accidents also it will stop after 10 if no one touches it so even if it is mildly annoying for those ten they will get the point and stay clear, stopping them from even sitting on it, these types on locks will be very effective if you ask me because i highly dobt they will be dumb enough to continue with that much noise informing everyone
thats awsome does it work well in the cold? Mine froze yesterday and called univ. police we spent an hour with bolt cutters, car jack not even a scratch... that sucks I had to leave my bike outside all night
I just got it. $20+22(S&H). It works very well. I put it underneath my trailer swinging. If something bump or pull, it will set off. And it's hard to get under to take it off.

yes there are a lot of alarms out there so do as i did i bought a quite simple motorcycle alarm installed it but not all
i just hooked up the siren and the LED and then i hooked it up to the battery
