It depends on which recipe you use. I like to leave mine out to ferment for about two weeks. I add 1tbls pickling spice, 2 garlic cloves and 1 bay leaf to a quart jar of filtered water with about 1tbls of salt.
How long does it take to get sour? I made my first batch 5 days ago and the water looks a little cloudy and they smell garlicy but not really pleasant. The water taste garlicy but not really pleasant or sour. Do you think I've done something wrong or just need to keep waiting? I've made kimchi and sourkraut which has been very good but so far these pickles don't look very good and the water doesn't taste very good. How & when would I know if I've done something wrong? Thanks & I like ur video

THANK YOU! Finially a real video on REAL pickles! I've been trying it on my own and want to get away from the vinegar recipes.
