My guess it's charcoal packets and the swirling motion allows the water to flow, release and capture the chlorine Tatar but not the chlorine itself and the carbon probably releases some minerals. Who knows but that's my guess.

Regarding the aquarium, HealthyTap will remove chlorine from the wter which should help the marine life. The chitosan will help bind some of the dissolved junk that is usually found in an aquarium water. The challenge is that one packet will only treat about one gallon of water. If the aquarium is large, it will take quite a few packets. However, once the chlorine is removed, there is no need to add moer packets before the water is changed.

Water is great part of my life too (Water Quality Engineer) this is just B.S Most municipal treatment plants in the US meet EPA high quality standards no you will never find Toxins in your water and Chlorine yes! you want it it kill bacteria water is required to have some residual chlorine so that the distribution system does not get "infected" so what more do you want high quality water for about three gallons for the penny Drink your tap water is safe!!

These bags won't filter out sediment or cysts. You need a filter with a one micron rating minimum to filter out cysts. And how long do you have to stir the bag around in the pitcher before it makes contact with every molecule of water? Probably hours.
