@bluspy by the way leleng is the name of the girl. but because of the structure of the language, people misunderstood it as "baleleng". the "ba" is used in the dialect to end a question. it's similar to tagalog. "aalis ka ba?" it's not part of the name.

@shailee79 I first heard this native song from the Tausugs when I was assigned in Sulu in early 70's and this became the most sung song by the soldiers in their happy gatherings. I believe those soldiers (me, included) who were lucky enough to get back home took this song with them and translated it into their own dialect like visayan, tagalog, ilocano, etc.
