  • Do you like the idea of the pyramid workouts? Like with reps being 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1, 4? Or would you rather do a workout with like 5 x 5? I'm at about 450 on my squat and wanna get it up to about 500. Just curious on your thoughts.

  • @twhisenhunt78

There are pros and cons to both approaches, but my favorite of the two would be the 5x5 routine.

  • wow awesome He Is One Sexy Man, Look How Flexible He Is...

  • I guess he really want a big but

  • my rear delts get extremely achey when doing deadlifts, is this normal?

  • @spam2094

It could be from the strain on the upper back. But generally most people don't get really sore in the rear delts from deadlifts.

  • How much weight is that on the high rep partial deadlifts 2 sets of 20 reps?

  • @cranebeg

    225 pounds.

  • @leemhayward do u think that if u do only heavy squat and deadlift workout for instance 5sets and 5reps, would u get great results only do there execrises and some couple of helping movements?:D

  • lee, is it normal for my lower back to feel the pain the next day after deadlift?

  • @timbrandon94

The deadlift heavily works the lower back, so yeah it's common to get some muscle soreness in that area after doing a hard deadlift workout. But as you get in better shape you'll experience less and less soreness from your workouts.

  • @VisionimagifyTV

Lift within your means, if the weight is too heavy then drop it back down. Start with a weight you can manage and strive to increase the weights by 5 pounds per workout. Small jumps like this make it easier to get stronger and maintain good form.

  • STACK WEIGHTS !!! love it hahaah ! hate it when ppl just leave the bar's and plates everywhere ! lazy shits !!!

  • this is like the standard speed squat/deadlift day on westside template

  • thank you LEE, great tips!!!!!!!!

  • Box squats worked great thanks for the idea.diffidently helped my leg workout

  • Hey Lee, are you doing your deadlifts on a back day or on a leg day? I do back on tuesday and legs on wednesday so I wonder what's better or it doesn't have much importance... I do them on back day but I heard it's better on leg day, so I don't know...

  • dude his ass

  • Im 15, 135 lbs, and im doing powerlifting. My squat max is currently around 275, but recently i've started leaning heavily to the right during my workouts, and i think it's actually gone down now because of that. I have no clue what changed for this to happen. Any tips?

  • Lee do you have any advice on hitting plateaus? Please do a video on overcoming plateaus. Thanks for all you do.

  • Hey Lee, Great video. I've been trying to put some videos together of me working out but I can't find a gym I am allowed to film at. I keep talking to managers but they won't let me. Any advice?

  • @jasonpatonfitness

You'll have to find a gym that doesn't mind you shooting video. Some of the "fitness centers" around here don't let guys shoot video either. This particular gym is privately owned.

  • @leemhayward Does the deadlift really get the whole body firing? and what are the main muscles worked in a pistol squat.

  • @jasonpatonfitness dont go to fitness centers go to gyms real gyms for poerlifters and bodybuilders these guys dont usaly mind

  • please anyone reading this, if you're going to do these "repped " deadlifts, do them about half this speed on the way down.

  • v@MerkabaStar

I've actually posted up some nice "Slow & Controlled" videos. Just search for "Hammer Strength Seated Row 6 Plates Per Side" :-)

  • @leemhayward That's good to know!

  • hey lee im having trouble with squatting i can barely squat like 170 and its terrible but my bench press is 200 pounds and i just started squatting and i know people that they squatted for the first time and got like 220 and 225 its just not fair :(

any tips? supplements? btw im 17 years old

  • @Gcounty404

Honestly, it doesn't matter what you lift your first time trying an exercise. What matters is that you stick with it and make slow steady gains over the long term. The good thing is that you are aware of this weakness and you can now take action to prioritize your legs more in your workouts.

  • @leemhayward Yea dats real when i first started squatting i probably could do 135 lbs 10 reps max which was when i was 16, now i am 22 and i can squat 385 for 5 sets of 6 to 8 reps and my max is over 405(4 plates)! just keep at it and become innovative in changing up you workouts and you will get stronger!

  • @leemhayward

What about glute ham raises, they work the hamstrings from origin to insertion, unlike the leg curl?

  • @stallion7788

If you have access to a glute ham raise station then by all means use it. We don't have one at the gym I train at.

  • @Gcounty404

if you want your max to go up work on your tech. it is possible to gain about 30lbs because of lazy tech. also do a pryaimaid set on your work out twice a week with the following sets of 8,6,4,2,12 start out with about 65-70% of your max and go up gradually after a short break on your set of two try to about 95% of your max out weight. squats are the most brutal work out it takes the longest to get a perfect squat i squat 225 and i only weigh 152 i am able to do this b/c of tech.

  • haha Lee you make leg curls look manly lol I feel like a wuss doing them but i still do them.

  • thx for the vid man, nice form.

  • Box squats habitually make my lower back ache, no more of these things for me.

  • hey what would you suggest to a person who has fat on the sides of his abs on the waist bone if u get what i mean , bellow the side oblique muscles.

  • Hey man, that's a common question. When you work a specific muscle group, it's a myth that you are burning fat from that area. Your body will burn fat randomly from various areas determined mostly by genetics, no matter what workout it is that you do. Your best bet is cardio. Lots of cardio. The more calories you burn, the better.

  • @pakibuilder you can't target fat or do a work out to remove just any spot. diet is the only answer

  • Nicee i like these

  • Lee, for those pull throughs, what attachment did you have on the low pully cable?

  • @xnightwishx18

    yep, probs :)

  • why is he a fag you little shitpussy?

  • Lee, Vince is right, you're an aminal !!

  • when i do these exercises, should i do all the sets of the same exercise at once and then change the exercise? Or should i do 1 set and then change to the next exercise until i finish 1 round and repeat the process?

  • When I used to do box squats, it would hurt my lower back (feel like it is compressing it). Is this normal, or due to improper technique and/or weak muscles on my part?

  • Could be both, start off light and get the form down perfect first, there is a bit of a learning curve with this exercise. Once you feel solid, then gradually up the weight.

  • Nice gym! Where is that?

  • wow! nice video man

  • He Is One Sexy Man, Look How Flexible He Is...

  • thanks for the video. keep 'em coming!

  • Did we pick up a new editing program, Lee?

  • Nope, just playing around with windows movie maker :-)

  • box squats,mmmmmmmmmmm love em

  • lee if i weight 170 adn i can squat 315x8-10 is that good if i go parellel
