  • @1964klc I use a Rem 700 varmint special, with a heavy BBl in a cal 22/250 which I handload myself & have taken chuck's here in NYS some at 250-300 yds with that gun & my handload's, I have a Leupold 6x5x20 mm scope on it & it's as accurate as anything. I enjoy Chuck hunting, but we don't see alot any more because of the Coyote's getting them.

  • @MyREDTAIL Check out my other video for my 22-250 "Pa Groundhog Hunt 3"

  • Numerous g'hogs will killed in the production of this video. How much better can it get?!

  • Good shooting!

  • @HoytSuperHawk Hello, fellow Pennsylvanian!

  • @Sunsballer4evr Thanks! Try shooting for the head, its more challenging and it will make you a better shot!

  • 1:24 " was uh 157 yard..... HEADSHOT" haha. great shooting.

  • @MrHardkohr Thanks!

  • I love the one you wanted to stand up!! Great shooting!!

  • @hunterknapp16 Thank You!

  • Thanks for the video. I lived in Altoona and hunted deer, squirrels, cottontails, and groundhogs. I now live in Northern California and manage ground squirrels. I use a TC in 17 HMR and .223 and a Savage in .204.

Type in; 32 squirrels 0n 44 seconds. I think you will like it.

  • @STEVEASKE Thanks! I will check that out. Check out my Pa Groundhog Part 2

  • @coppockkevin Thanks You, check out my part 2 if you haven't already.

  • I have a t/c contender pistol in 17 Remington and a weatherby vangaurd in 223 for groundhogs but I also have lots of space behind my targets. Great shooting and keep up the good work

  • @fstthndrbrd Thanks! Happy Hunting

  • Great shooting.I have gotten away from chuck hunting as my health has deteriorated. Was neat watching your video. Thanks !!

  • @Ditch1221 Thanks! Sorry to hear about your health. I have several problems, but I am happy, because I could always be worse. Did you check out my Pa Groundhog Hunt Part 2?

  • were these hollow points? it doesn't look like they were

  • @backyardhunter99 Yes they are.

  • awsome shooting...

  • Thanks!

  • Looking for a new g-hog / varmint gun any suggestions? about 30-300 yrds.

  • I would not get a .17 unless it was a center fire! The Hornet is best up to 200 yards although I have had longer shots. But you need to aim a little high. Your never wrong with a 22-250!

  • @1964klc 22-250 is a bad ass. great round for long distances if there's enough space behind the shot. ;o) a hello to ya haven't spoke to you in a while.

  • @drummersmyname4 Thanks! Keep after those critters, the farmers will love you.

  • great shooting buddy

  • Thanks

  • I also have a savage 340 22 hornet, Did you ever have a problem with it not holding a pattern once the barrel got warm? if so what did you do to correct it?

  • No, I have not. The only problem I found is after 10 shots it does not hold a good pattern. You must stop and clean it! Maybe that might be you problem too?

  • Such clean kills. Very nice.

  • Thank you! Check out part 2

  • yeah i just read u culd eat em so im gona get one in the summer and try one if i get one

    im in allentown pa

    go to my channel

  • I just went to your channel, all about squirrels. I heard of several different recipes, some sound very good! One is they use barbecue chips as breading, then cook in oven. But I don't know all of the recipe?

  • ok cool and nice videos i subed

  • Thank You!

  • Eh-nice set up you got there mate. Can you eat them rascals?

  • Thanks, Several people I know do and say they are good! But I do not.

  • how big are groundhogs fully grown?

  • They average around 10 pounds. I got a few over 15 though.

  • damn dude get a new fucking camera

  • 17 head shots, and all you can say is that! I checked your channel and you have no videos on. So keep your mouth shut.

  • can you eat them?

  • Yes, I don't but some people tell me they are good if prepared right. I lay them along the edge of the field. Many times I noticed they were gone by the next evening. Eaten by foxes and coyotes.

  • I use a Savage .17 HMR. heavy barrel i dont exactly remember the scope and i put mine away for the winter and ill get it out in the spring

  • same thing with me. savage . 17 HMR i use a hornady accutip round very accurate

  • That last one shown looked like a nice size porker.

  • GOD BLESS AMERICA

  • Lol

  • what kinda of scope do you use what is the mag?

  • Simmons 6.5 - 20

  • Good shooter. I like to see animals harvested quick and as painless as possible

  • Thanks! Yes, If we are going to shoot any animal, It should be a quick and humane kill.

  • what scope is that?

  • Simmons Whitetail Classic 6.5 - 20 power with 50mm adjustable optics

  • i use a .223 with a balistic tip shell. it blows a softball size hole in the side of them, its great.haha

  • love this video. its a lot like my summer except I took 15 all with my .17 HMR. still workin on my deer for this year. i'm from ohio.

  • Gotta love PA. This is what you do when deer ain't in season! Great vidio. Good luck this deer season.

  • Thanks! Then hunt coyotes from Jan. thru March. I harvested a buck the first week of archery. Good luck to you!

  • Nice shooting! Love the whistle to get them to sit up.

  • Thanks, sometimes it does work.

  • i want to shoot ground hogs with a 8mm mauser.....

  • wow, this is some heavy shooting, good job man...

  • Thank You!

  • correct me if im wrong. but i thought a .22 hornet was a short-ranged varmint rifle. very nice shots btw.

  • Thanks for the compliment! Your right, a Hornet is best with shots under 200yds. This video has none over that distance. Although I have made headshots up to 380 yards. But some adjustments need to be made and wind is now a factor. Remember this is a center fire and not to be confused with a 22mag. Checkout my Pa Groundhog Hunt Part 2 where I have longer shots.

  • ahh. your welcome. thanks for info :)

  • ur freakin beast nice vid

  • Thanks!

  • Looks like a savage 340. Did you need to do any mods to the mounts to accept the larger scope?

  • 340 Your right. The gun was not even set up for a scope. I had it drilled out by a gunsmith and I gave him the scope I wanted to use.

  • Awesome shooting man! The classic .22 Hornet caliber still has it's place in modern varmint hunting. I need a Hornet to fill in the gap left between my .22 WMR and .22-250.

  • Thank You! No recoil and not to loud either.

  • nice shooting man! That isnt like any 22 I've seen, that thing is powerful

  • Thanks!

  • Great Job! My buddy & I do Pest control around in Montgomery County, PA with .22 High Power Pellet Rifle, We also trap with landowners permisson.

  • Thanks!

  • I have a Crosman StormXT air rifle. I've shot 4 adults, head shots, and 7 about that were about 7 months old all from 30 - 40 yards out. I think that's good especially for using an air rifle.

  • I just got a call from Bullberry Customs that my .22 K Hornet will be ready in a couple of weeks.. this video makes me want it as of yesterday!!! Thanks for the video very good shots!

  • Thanks, happy hunting!

  • u have a great shot and i love the gun

  • Thanks! Checkout part 2

  • hey one question. uuuummmmm when hunting ground hog why whistle?

  • It will sometimes make them stand tall to see better, just like a bear will also do.

  • at 1:15 was not a head shot it was still moving

  • Every shot was a head shot! What you are seeing is just nerves. Just like a chicken with it head cut off. The chicken will not only flop around but can sometimes run around.

  • hey klc did u ever use a 240 gibs

  • No. I am not familiar with that round.

  • Start to hunt them in the evenings 6 - 8 pm, a couple of days after the farmer makes the first cut of hay. This works best for me!

  • Thank you for noticing that shot! I am not sure how I even seen him with the tall grass. I studied it for a minute or two to make sure it was a groundhogs head, because it never moved. I also cant shoot as well sitting up. Its also my favorite shot in this video.

  • in the words of Dr. Peter Venkman, Ghostbuster, "Nice shootin, Tex!"

  • Lol, Thanks! If you like this one maybe you might want to check out part 2.

  • id love to do some groundhog hunting but all i got round my house is rabbits...but there tasty :)

  • i love eatin em. and by the way I just missed one about 10 minutes ago.

  • im in the process of hunting one up the road from my house at my grandmas. im using a crosman g1 extreme 1000fps pellet gun its enough to kill it i have a springfield 30-06 and other guns but using a pellet gun is going to be a fun challange

  • Good luck! My friend shot one with a pellet gun at very close range in the head. Hey, don't stretch them ears to big you might regret it someday!

  • thats why im stopping at 6gauge its not really too big. right now im trying to bait the woodchuck out with peanut butter bread with horse grain ontop. idk if it will work but im trying anyway

  • question dude what do you do with the groundhog after you shoot it? can you eat it?

  • I am only shooting them for the farmer because of the damage they cause. I take them to the edge of the woods. The next day they are gone, taken by fox and coyotes. I do not eat them although several people I know do and they like them!

  • 17? thats it i shot over 50 this year

  • So what, how many do you have on film?

  • u live close to me i live in slippery rock good hunting i was out today and saw 3 killed 2

  • Cool! We can't get them all.

  • very nice shooting man. i don't really hunt, but i like to shoot a target from 100 yds. with a .22, although not as good as you with those head shots.

  • Thanks, In a day or two checkout my Pa Groundhog Hunt Part 2. There is a 300 yard shot and you can see the vapor trail on a few. Please give me a good rating!

  • badass vid man great job!

  • Thank You! I just made a new one this summer and hope to have it uploaded in a couple of weeks.

  • PA for life!!!!!

  • love it when they pop there heads up good shooting

  • Thanks!

  • nice shootin, seems like you hold your breath and it works well, but i like to controll my breathing to slow it in and out, then slowly pull the trigger as you breathe out slowly, that way you dont get your heart bouncing your shot up and down at the longer range shots. try it out sometime its helped me to get some 200+ yard shots on the groundhogs with my .270. great accuracy though man.

  • Thank You! That's the way I have always done it. It seems to work for me. But I will definitely try that to see if it helps.

  • the one at 2:00 is a great shot

  • Thank You!

  • Im a big hunter myself but Im wondering what are you doin with these whistle pigs? I love the 17hmr blazin fast little bugger and accurate as hell to if theres not to much wind

  • Although some people do eat them, I do not. I will not put them back down the hole like some people do. All that does is make the other ones living there dig new holes and does not help the farmer. I carry them to the edge of the field. After one or two days they are taken by fox or coyotes. I heard a lot of good things about the little 17.

  • hola , que carabina es la que usas? gracias que calibre es? 22 lr. o 17 hmr?

  • If your asking about the caliber its a .22 center fire.

  • dude youve got one great setup!!

  • Thanks, I am planning on filming some this year.

  • nice shootin

  • Thanks!

  • klc, thats awesome stuff.

  • Thanks!

  • dude thats some awesome shooting i am about to get a 270 for deer hunting but i will also shoot some groundhogs with it but anyways that is some awesome shooting

  • Thank You!

  • I like 22-250 for groundhogs.

  • Its a great gun!

  • Great shooting, a buddy of mine also uses a .22 hornet. I use a .17 Fireball on groundhogs. Its very accurate, and hardly any recoil. I would like to add a .22 hornet to my collection some day. Any suggestions on what riflemaker makes the best rifle chambered for .22 hornet.

  • Thanks! No, I don't know which would be the best? I seen one in a Browning A bolt that I really liked and Ruger makes a nice one too.

  • good all head shots i have the exact same gun!! mine is dead on

  • Thanks! Cool, its a good rifle. I have to clean it about every 10 shots to keep it shooting good.

  • hey man, thats sum pretty impressive shots u made there. are you shooting 22 longs or 22 mags??

  • Thanks! This gun is neither a 22 long or 22 mag. They are rim fires. Mine is a 22 Hornet which is a center fire. Its over 5 times the energy of a 22 long and over 2 times the energy of a 22 mag.

  • damn. ive never seen a 22 centerfire before. is it the same size in cicumference?

  • 22 long, 22 Mag, are rim fires. 22 Hornet, 220 Swift, 222, 223 and 22-250 are all center fires and use the same size bullet in diameter and circumference as the long and mag. However the bullets vary in weight and the shell casings are different in size to hold more powder.

  • geeze !!

    thats impressive

    good on yah

  • Thank You!
