@FraterGenus Not exactly. Prince Oleg of Rus came to Kiev in 882 AD from NOVGOROD, and before that his residence was in Old Ladoga. When he made Kiev his new residence and proclaimed it to be "The Mother of Russian Cities" (i.e., "Metropolis") there were already other Russian cities, e.g. Smolensk, Rostov, Polotsk, Murom, etc.
