  • Steve, you ARE a Genius.

  • He is presetating this so relax t in his normal clothes

  • "i'm not a genius at all?" Steve Jobs is the most humble person i know!

  • Imiss

  • RIP BIG HOMIE!!!

  • We lost a great influential, iconic, awesome man :( .. RIP Steve Jobs… Greatly remembered.

  • RIP, Steve. iHeaven?

  • RIP STEVE

  • Steve, you are an Genius, and always will be...

  • "I'm not a genius"

    Oh Jobs, you modest bastard

  • Wow he is fat...Wow...I hope all that money can beat cancer.

  • @oooshitman9 All that money did not beat cancer.

  • Comment removed

  • He seems so proud and enthusiastic

  • who is his stylist? still the same shit today

  • Who is the fat guy with the black sweater in this video? Where the hell is Steve Jobs?

  • Nostalgia'd. Nostalgia'd hard.

  • TechnoBuffalo brought me here!

  • this happy, acting steve gave me weird shutters.

  • Actually the Apple Store at Glendale Galleria is Apple Store #0001. The one in Virginia opened first because it's in the East Coast.

  • The Mac screens don't look like they are from 2001 at all though, they still seem modern now.

  • That's amazing how the iPhone/iPod touch can be considered a replacement for the non Apple products they carried 10 years ago :)

  • Jippy Skippie, 5 different games! One product every 50 feet. Looks like an empty store with nothing to sell except overly priced rubbish that you can't upgrade, rather you throw in the trash can and overpay for a new one because it comes in pastels and matches your cute jimmy choo's while you drink fucking Starbucks at night looking like some metro sexual french mother fucker waiting around for hookups. The artificial nature of apple products is appalling. Status only, not practical.

  • @KaiserWilhelmIV Umm... I've had a macbook pro 2.1 for 4 years, and I've upgraded the OS from Panther to Leopard to Snow Leopard with Lion coming soon (each cost $29 by the way), I've upgraded the hard drive from 120 to 360 to 750GB, and I've upgraded the RAM from 2 to 4 GB. I'm purely a business user - I never go to starbucks, and I've never had a virus. My dad got his brand new Windows 7 laptop last month after a year with his old one and promptly got a virus that's made it unusable. Status?

  • @truthsmiles Gee is that what YOU CALL UPGRADE? Next time swap out the mother board, video card, sound card, and the processor... see if you can do that with that shit MAC. Swapping out easy drive or ram is really nothing at all but MAC does not allow any usable parts or make usable parts beyond the very light shit because they want to sell you more overpriced shit. Tell daddy to buy a real desktop, fuck laptops.

  • fat jobs

  • shit quality

  • It's been 10 years already? Where has the time gone?

  • TechnoBuffalo sent me here

  • No, Steve Jobs, You are a Genius !

  • LOL. ahh the days of iBooks and Powerbook G4s....

  • aaaaahhhhhh....

  • too bad it took until now for anyone to give a shit

  • Humble beginnings :)

Nice video, especially to see it today after the Apple boom.

  • Damn he' s 33% thinner too!

  • wow. the same black sweater? :D

  • wow just amazing. Steve Jobs did it and Apple did it. I will be your big fan ever and ever.

  • Dude, this had to be at WWDC 2001, NOT Macworld Expo NY. WWDC was held in May of 2001, while Macworld Expo 2001 didn't happen until July. Jobs also makes reference to "we'll provide shelves for as much as you can write," in reference to software being written by the developers in attendance.

    Steve

  • Ahahha Creative Nomad. How things have changed.

  • Where the fuck did all the off brand shit go?

  • I like not-douche Steve.

  • damn, 2001 technology looks like it's 20 years old, not 10 compared to today's gear.

  • Great video!

  • I love how they show the nomad for playing music, just amazing.

  • Great video! I'm into MacWorld just a year ago, and I haven't regret even for a minute my choice. I like to watch Apple history when it was a totally wild world to me.

  • and now these stores are filled with hipsters and cunts. Oh wait nevermind thats just all apple users

  • It doesn't matter how smart you are, how rich you are, how successful you are, anyone can become ill at any time.

    Live long Steve Jobs.

  • Inspiring

  • He looked much healthier back then, haha.

  • Well, they had iBooks at that time on display!!

  • Love the Creative Nomad. :-)

  • Я бы сам в жизни Джобса не узнал.. как же он похудел...

  • Thanks @MuscleNerd. Great to see the history. I love the separate 3rd party devices that together make up an iPhone. :)

  • Thanks for the trip down memory lane MuscleNerd

  • Why doesn't my Apple Store in Salt Lake have a theater?

  • @K2b6s9j woot salt lake! and my apple store does have a theatre, its called best buy=P

  • thanks for the walk down memory lane @MuscleNerd

  • 2:58 if that person doesn't know the answer he is not a genius -__-

  • if it weren t his clothes i woudnt recognized him. Wow, how he lost weight, hope steve stays along time with us to keep those tech companys awake! if steve dies......the tech revolution slows down!

  • 2:58 if that person doesn't know the answer he is not a genius -__-

  • Compared to now, steve fucking looks like skeletor.

  • @MuscleNerd linked me to this video :)

  • He always has worn those too-small jeans and dark monochromatic shirts...

BTW @MuscleNerd sent me to this video ;)

  • He always has worn those too-small jeans and dark monochromatic shirts...

  • Steve was and is an incredible visionary - and an excellent CEO. No wonder he propelled Apple to the second biggest company (in terms of capitalization) in the world.

  • Musclenerd <3

  • Musclenerd sent me here

  • Thumbs up if you were brought here by MuscleNerd

  • What an amazing, history-changing guy he's been. He'll leave an amazing legacy.

  • I did not see a single computer in the store.... only those extra large ipods

  • @mcf3778 youre pretty blind then...

  • is this really steve? wtf!

  • what an excellent presenter!

  • Do they sell the iPancreas there?

  • Dang he looks so young.

  • He looks very healthy here... Now he looks like a walking stick, which is disheartening. =( Get well soon, Mr. Jobs!

  • i was expecting steve to say iPod haha ;p;

  • He's still wearing the same clothes

  • It has been a rough 10 years for Steve. I hope he gets healthy soon! God Speed Steve.

  • Very cool to see this. I stood in line to get into the Tysons Corner store the first day, and later worked at the store for a while.

  • what happened to the theatre?

  • other people's stuff

    LOL

  • "You can just pick this up and see what it's like to have a wireless connection to the internet." lol

  • @ddpsp

Well back in 2001, WI-FI is considered technological marvel.

  • Comment removed

  • Whoa. The day Jobs wears even a different coloured top, it'll be headline news, #LOL

  • I'm going there soon:)

  • I swear to god, that's John and Yoko in the back round in the beginning !

  • @MegaFLAMEWAR It is. Part of the Think Different / Here's To The Crazy Ones ad campaign.

  • It looks like the inside of some cult like scientology I think steve is one.

  • he has big hands

  • I live near there! Like 20 minutes away. I live in Falls Church, VA. I go there almost every day. I love the store!

  • Damn, my apple store doesn't have a theater!

  • So whats that store like today? I see there is still one in Tysons Corner, but is it in the same location?

  • @insaneiaq yeah it is

  • @insaneiaq it even looks the same these days.

  • The Microsoft Store is like a complete rip off or at least inspired by the Apple Store.

Like it or not, Apple makes Microsoft do stuff.

  • agreed

  • @MrThecolorfulsung so what bro.. thats how the world works itself, you think the cell phone was a rough draft? no it followed the cord phone... if youve seen microsofts store it is way nicer with much more options just like relating the cell phone to the cord phone

  • @MrThecolorfulsung Actually the Apple Store of this video looks a lot like the Microsoft Stores of today, more than the Apple Store itself. Have you seen both stores side by side? The Apple Store looks so much more cold, gray, industrial and boring than the colorful and fun Microsoft Store.

  • @djguapo first .. "Apple Store of this video looks a lot like the Microsoft Stores of today" .. umm this video was taken in 2001 .. you did nothing but back him up on that point.

second, taking someone's product and just changing the color scheme doesnt make it your own .. thats kind of self explanatory

  • @MrThecolorfulsung

Steve actually admitted to taking the Apple Store idea from Sony stores in Japan, so don't give Apple all the credit for retail stores they have today.

  • Steve Jobs back in his hay days.. he really is a business genius and marketing guru

  • New solutions from Apple: Video, Photo and K i d s

  • Does Steve Jobs never change clothes!

  • Well, those are his trademark clothes. Black shirt and jeans. IDK LOL!

  • If you consider 20% a small percentage, then yes.

  • but now the apple stores are 50% ipods and they usually have only 1, yes ONE Mac Pro in a corner =/

  • @ginito At our store here locally: Right front iPods, left front MacBooks; Mid right iPod accessories - mid left MacBook Pro line, rear: software/Genius. Also on every edge there's usually a MacBook or MacBook Pro, or iMac.

  • dell doesn't have a retail store. I think Apple is richer than PC. I just went to an Apple retail store at the Lehigh Valley Mall. I was shocked by how crowded the apple store was. And it was my first time going to an Apple store at the Lehigh Valley Mall.

  • did NOT realize that the first Apple Store was in Tyson's corner. I visit that store any time I need something Apple. they have rearranged it since then and I think it's actually a little smaller but wow that's kind of crazy.

  • There is now a modern Apple Store near my house, In Scottsdale!! :D

Actually, there's 2. One the iStore (what's the difference, anyway?), and the recently opened Apple Store near the Phoenix border.

  • haha i go to that apple store all the time

  • lol i work at the apple store

  • This video does not support the iPhone...can we change that?

  • yes Steve, you are a genius!!

  • hiu

  • sffs

  • When he dies he will... be dead, lol

  • lol

  • no shit sherlock

  • they were not even secure anyone could have just walked out with an ibook without being noticed

  • They had things connected to USB, and when the USB was pulled out, it would set off an alarm. I did it a long time ago not knowing what I was doing and a LUDASS high-pitched siren went off! Scared the living shit out of me.

  • steve jobs lied, he is a freaking genius. if you would have bought stock on that day, youd be a wealthy retired man now, but why sell apple stock now, they are about to surpass microsoft indefinitely, they can t be stopped, microsoft is no longer the king of the computer industry

  • You realize apple still has less than 10% of the computer market share, right?

Though I agree apple is certainly doing much better, they are still nowhere even close to becoming the king of the computer industry.

  • apple makes a better operating system and better computers than microsoft, but until they lower their prices, they will never overtake microsoft. i have a mac and love it, and think leopard is brilliant compared to crappy vista, but it will never be as popular as windows. i understand their is a reason for the higher prices and you do get what you pay for with apple, but schools and small businesses dont usually look at that at first - they usually refer to their budget.

  • Given that Microsoft doesn't make computers it is pretty likely that apple's are better!

  • they lowered the prices on the mac 300$

  • Apple also needs to fill in the blank spot that PCs like HP have, tablets. There missing a tablet line now!! I want an Apple tablet now!! D: At least Apple really is improving their economy (and their environment, due to its aluminum unibody) than crappy Microsoft, which just opened 2 little stores: One in Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall, and the other in southern California...

  • @sammyinengland I use Windows and Mac OS X all the time. I actually prefer Windows 7 over it -- Microsoft also does not make computers.

  • holy crap i have been to the first apple store!

  • I love the Apple stores

  • So that's why Apple's so Fucked-up at first... THEY DIDN'T HAVE A STORE! =))

  • that is so true they should have had a store a long time ago

  • Yeah, how can you easily reach out to customers without A STORE.

  • Notice how the laptops didn't have security cables? They quickly changed that after they started losing them because people would walk off with them.

  • The conputers didn't have the USB alarms? Are they any news archives that i can look up about this?

  • its funny when he said that he is not a genius because he is a Genius

  • see, that is why i love the apple store, they let u actually demo stuff, and play around with it. Best buy does sorta too... but Wal-Mart.. nope.. everything is behind glass windows...

  • Cool

  • 2:37 "I am not a Genius, but..."

yes you are Steve. You are. I cannot believe he is doing so poorly in his health. I'm not trying to make the Apple fans (like myself) get upset, but I do not think he is going to make it to the end of the year. And if he does, it would be suprising. I have always watched his Keynotes on Youtube from the MacBook Air intro to the first iPod intro. And everytime I see them, im like, "Wow. They could do that?"I wonder what Bill Gates is going to think when he goes.

  • Ironically, the same year, Microsoft stopped and closed down its retail store presence... (and by that I mean it closed down its Microsoft stores, no seriously)

  • and I'm amazed at how the original layout is still there, except that all the photo/movie/music demos have been turned into iPhoto/iMovie/iPod-iTunes. The kids section is still there though, but not so much an emphasis on it anymore. Now it's all about focusing on the product line, not solutions. (Not being negative here)

But... sniff.. seeing the camera made me think of MiniDV, which connects to FireWire, which is missing from the new Macbooks! Waaaaah! :'(

  • apple customer support is second to none, another reason why macs are worth a bit more money

  • k i will if it makes you happy

  • noooooo! don't make him happy! it gives him satisfaction!!!

  • lol nice

  • No more red phones anymore :(

  • I wonder why there are no Xserves there... :'(

  • They didnt have it back then i dont think and if they did they are to business level for a store

  • the Xserves were brought out in 2002, this is 2001

  • lol i shall never use a computer *if* he dies

  • man i love apple stores

  • they have security locks, duh!

  • yeah but none of the products are strapped down to death. You can at least pick them up and hgave a fell for them. Other places they tie them down so much you cant even get a fell of how it works

  • And at other stores, (or atleast the ones i been to) they don't even have any form of internet! wtf! And they're locked up so much you can't even close them!

  • thats part of apple's marketing at most stores the floor model is some crippled version locked down more than fort Knox

every apple store it's the full computer they only security they gut is a kingston that alarms when tampered

and if anything may possibly be crippled on those is they may have a porn blocker if some creep comes in

  • then why did he just pick one up?????

  • because when he filmed this it wasnt open to the public

  • I read something on one of the Mac enthusiasts sites about Johanthan Ive possibly taking over (now don't quote me on this because I hadn't seen the site in a long while) but I do hope Ive takes over because he leads what is, most likely and definitely in my opinion, the BEST design team on earth.

  • My best guess is Phil Schiller will take over, but Johnathon Ive is a possibility, he's the lead designer of the ipods and those are the flagships of apple. But I still think Phil will take over.

  • Who took over during the summer when steve was sick? I think it might have Been Johnathon..

  • I love apple stores. They have probably one of the best customer survive/store designs ever.

  • Me too. I love how hands on the stores are.. ALL the products are there for the consumer to test before buying - that shows that they care about their product and their customers.

  • Ohnoes!!!

  • i saw the sims 1 oh good memories!

  • The store that began it all. No other computer/software company has a store like apple does. Every time I walk near an apple store, I just have to go in, even if I'm not buying anything. The neatness, action, products, and the ambience is just a breath of fresh air. Apple Rules !!!!

  • Man, I live less then a mile from there

i went the opening week it was exactly like that

  • I'm not a Genius. Yea Right.

  • maybe he's telling the truth. you don't have to be a genius to be a successful business guy. when he was was working at atari, he knew little about circuit boards and atari said they would give him a bonus of 100 dollars for each chip he reduces for one of their games. so jobs asked steve wozniak to do it for him and they split the bonuses. it's not about brain's here, it's always about determination and hard work. me or you could be rich with a bit of luck and tons of hardwork.

  • I think he means in terms of resale & overall value. A generic PC wont be worth anything a couple years down the road. You'll always pay the most for your first Mac, then after that, its smooth sailing when you go to upgrade & sale your old Mac for almost what you paid for it & get a new one. Its like comparing a Toyota to a Ford.

  • Actually, macs are alot cheaper. Say u wanted to sell ur pc on eBay, and it sold for $100, a $700 pc - $100, $600. If u bought an iMac for $1200, then sold it on eBay for $1000, then, it was $200, long term costs. PC has SEVERAL long-term costs! could cost u up to $1500, just for antispyware, repairs, etc

  • I loved the Apple store then, and I love them now.

  • that place is looks so awesome // i want to go to the one in NY but i cant so i can only go to the one in Chicago
