@AlisaMarie16 use gel food coloring. they're a lot more vibrant and there are a lot more options. you can get them in cake decorating store or even places like michael's or jo-ann's good luck!
:) awesome present cake right am i right??? :\ uuummm....... can i take the cake now or do i have to steal it :| jk ill eat if u dont me 2 :) .......... D: omg idk what am i saying im just so hungrey
You have some real talent! I hope my first fondant cake will be that good. Btw, I might have accidentally touched the flag button on this vid, I'm on a touch screen, so ignore it if I did, sorry.(
The bow can be fixed if you cut the ends into triangle shapes they are easier to put together without much lumpiness and the last one you put on top put where the ends meet facing down.
wow looks sick :) im 15 too & my first fondant cake was way to thick & my bow was funky lol beside the center + uneven circles, its pretty good. u shuld use prettyer colors thoo
I'm 16 and i am a professional baker. Your cake looks spectacular for your first...
for the bow, i would recommend instead of putting the outer pieces outside of the first layer, put them ontop so that they overlap. It makes it look way better! You can also cut the ends so that they are pointy and make sure that you have water close by to use as and adhesive. Also for your center, make sure that you make it round, like a bracelet. Otherwise it looks fantastic and neat! Keep up the good work!
@msblayke my family owns the bakery. We hire mostly family and friends. I do designing and working with fondant and icing. I still help out with baking and stuff... is that a law?
@littlemissaloveable well like in oklahoma you have to be 18 or older to be working near ovens and stuff i figured it was like that all over but umm like since your family owns a bakery idk lol
A tip for the bow is, keep it how it is except for the piece just sitting on the top, and with that piece bend it into a bridge shape and simply place it on the top. :D
this is a pretty cake it looks like the work of a pro. i wish u had a tutorial i want to make one for my 21st bday. did u have to apply buttercream and then fondant? can i use frosting then fondant?
AWESOME! I'm making my first fondant cake today for my mom's 50th birthday party tomorrow. I hope mine comes out as nice as yours =) You did GREAT! I love it! I bet your mom is very proud of you =)
Well you said you needed some tips for your bow, so i thought id try to help :) I made my sisters wedding cake, which had a large, white bow made of fondant at the top. My tip for you would be to make some parts of the bow pointing upward, not to the sides. It truly brings alot of character to your cake. Oh and you did a fabulous job on your first cake. :)
I think that is great. I have my party comin up (13th) and i want to make my own cake. I am amking a three tier high cake and i will use fondant. There is so many cake designs and i love yours! I love the bow and the poka dots! They are so awesome!
The bow needs to be dried for longer...im not much older than you but i have been making fondant cakes for about 4 years. if you dry the bow longer it wont sag.
a tip for your bow, it looks great! For the center instead of using another tear shaped piece try just making it completely round, or even just a little ball of fondant pressed into the middle like a button, hard to explain but if you saw a cake with one you'd know what I ment
i am also making my first one im turning 12 soon and im making a cake for my moms birthday, im making a vanilla sponge cake with white fondant,2 medium sized calla lilys some small roses and then writing her name and happy birthday if anyone has any tips i would really appricieate it because its my first ever fondant cake if you do have any tips please messege me
I use store bought fodant satin ice is good but you can get other brands all have a slightly different flavour. However, if you are set on making your own I'm afraid I can only recommend looking up videos on homemade marshmallow fondant on here there are some excellent ones out there. Hope you have a great succsess.
@puccita88 2 lb marshmello.....1/2 tea crease....powder sugar just keep adding til the melted marshmello gets kinda hard then.....1/2 tea water fairly easy to make hope this helps =)
Yea I use a similar recipe from the Wilton website now works wonders. Hopefully soon I will post some new cakes I have done in the last year been to busy but must show.
this look really good my first cake tasted great, not so pretty though!! look on here how to do fondant bows, there are a couple of good videos to show u how.
just curious.. is fondant tasty? because it looks so fake when its on cake and its doesnt look very tastey.. looks like plastic.. but its very beautiful on the cake tho. so i dunno what fondant tastes like... oh and um. i love your ckae!! heheh.
bows are easy. you stack the loops after they dry out. 5 on the bottom to begin, 4 on top of that, 3 on top of that, and you end with 2 in the middle.
on ur bow, i think the loops r too far apart an they look too uniform... instead of makin a square with th loops, try makin it look a bit more round, an im not really sure, but start from the middle part an then work ur way outwards. the cake it beautiful though. Hope i helped some
this is really good for your first cake. my opinion is that you should just roll up a ball of fondant and place it in the middle. maby you could decorate the ball with polka dots or stripes?
there's not much difference in the texture of marzipan and fondant, though I find marzipan slightly more sticky and oily. However the big difference comes from the taste - some cakes are ill suited towards an almond undertone, and some would be completely overpowered by the marzipan. I find I only use it with fruitcakes, and even so I'll put fondant overtop for a polished look and a colour that's more true to what I need.
Fondant is malleable, whereas marzipan is a treat that, once molded, dries into a harder form. Marzipan is used mainly for little props or characters atop cakes, while fondant is easier to control and shape (and better for shaping around any kind of cake) =D
Some cakes have marzipan, though, like a Battenberg cake.
marshmellow fondant??? i wanna try to make mmf also but i dont know if it taste good..also i dont really know all da ingredients,,,wats everything you used?.i heard its better than store bought would you agree??
MMF is simply melted marshmellows with sifted confectioners suger (or icing sugar as it's also known) kneeded together with a bit of shortning. I usually put a bit of clear vanilla extract in with the marshmallows when I'm melting them, it makes it taste great. Otherwise it tastes just like marshmallows, which even plain tastes better than traditional fondant I think.
i love itttt i am working on my first fondent cake right now but i am positive mine will mot come out as good as yours lol btw luv the colors ancer back
