The idea of going raw appeals to me because I love veggies, but completely meat free worries me a bit because of the lack of B-12 in your diet. I guess you can take supplements, but if you don't does that mean the raw diet can be dangerous?
It really is kind of strange seeing these kinds of videos at present when I'm not fat any more - my magic pill is DietOramy diet plans regime (Google has a lot more content) - that thing truly taught me to be make over my entire body, well being as well as my entire life.
Hey there... Have you experimented with DietOramy food plan (search google)? I learned of quite a few shocking matters of it and even my sis shed a ton of surplus excess weight by using it.
I love eating raw! Im not 100 percent- I'm about 80%. I eat a raw bkfst, brunch, lunch and a snack and then in the evenings I have a plant based cooked dinner with my hubby. He eats fruit and whateva we had for din the nite b4 during the day while he's at work. He eats meat but usually on the weekends.
I am finally 80% raw. Its been a gradual change for me over the past year. I love it! Its definitely the way to go! I almost never cook now and people love my raw food treats...especially the raw brownies and banan ice cream. :) But I mostly juice and fast and when i do eat regular food I eat vegetarian because I am so picky about meat now. once you go raw, your skin will look and feel better, you also don't age as fast. I also don't have any body odor when i sweat now. Yay!! Raw for life! :D
The people on this woman's forum made encouraged a teenage me to eat unhealthily and made me incredibly ill. The whole thing is a load of gimmicks. It stinks of scam and is promoted by those making a profit or naive people with eating disorders. I was being told it was fine for me not to be having periods and if I was losing too much weight I could put it back on by eating avocadoes and if I ate cooked nuts I should do a "cleanse" with nothing but water and lemon juice for a week. Fucking nuts.
Raw food is the way to go, not because its a diet... but because raw is really the way our ancestors were eating for millions of years. Mainly fruits and veggies... some meats but NOT nearly as much! LIVING FOOD. Thats how we are biologically evolved to live :) So thats whats works best for our bodies
I think people dieting in general makes them feel sick. Releasing toxins from fat cells never feels good but how much greens in your diet can make the difference. Lots of green juice can get toxins out of your system faster. I'm 11 weeks raw and its been only good for my energy, and anti-aging:)
I just purchased the NEW movie released titled "Frequency of Genius" and it looks better than "What the Bleep..." ...NEW documentary that has David Wolfe (RAW FOOD), Jonathan Quintin, Dr. Cousesn and Jacque Fresco on it and many others...can't wait to see it ... frequencyofgenius com thanks for posting this cool video!!!
Gotta love self-accredited pop nutritionists who show up on Oprah and can't back a claim with hard science.
Until a raw-foods/vegan spokesperson can explain the evolution of eye teeth, I'm going to have a hard time believing we *weren't* evolved from a long history of omnivores.
Raw hempseed and kale are the two healthiest foods I can think of. I eat both everyday. That doesn't mean I don't have the occasional broiled meat, panfried fish, or pizza. Cholesterol is important in the diet too. The only time I get overweight is if I start drinking.
being 100% raw is the BEST...most people are just afraid of the cleansing reaction they might have to go through because of all the trash they eat for so many years..
eating raw, organic vegan real food is and always will be the best way to eat. you have 10 times the energy, look and feel so much better and sex is 100 times better...life can be so delicious!
@doggieGZ never hurt of the miracle cure diet....and the atkins diet is one of most unhealthy diets you can get on. raw food is much as a "fad" as simbly wanting to breath the purest oxygen you can get... ....and since all humans actually all creatures on this planed are naturally raw fooders and have been for millions of years this "fad" or raw food has been going on a littel too long ( miilions of years lol...) 2 ever be called a fad....don't you think?
@NuclearNympho Yeah but how long can have humans been cooking food by the fire? The raw food diet also dictates complete abstinence from any kind of meat. It's basically vegetarianism but also excluding cooking vegetables. And yet every single human on this planet was born with canine teeth.
I think the health benefits come from just eating more vegetables in general. Also if you breathed nothing but pure oxygen you'd die from respiratory alkylosis. Most natural air is 80% nitrogen.
@doggieGZ not true there are plenty of raw people who do eat raw meat...( I don't recommend that of course)...
Clean air contains 19%–21% Oxygen. In ancient times people lived longer because the air was composed of 40% Oxygen. Sadly, the air is decreasing in Oxygen daily. and nobody will be alive on 100% oxygen for too long as much as you will thrown in too much clean water...that's clear logic..so i don't know why you even mentioned that..
@NuclearNympho To say people in ancient times lived longer is just plain wrong. I have no idea where you came up with that one. Many of the original human inhabitants of Europe were found to not live past 30 years of age.
@doggieGZ I got it from this website....Google "Oxygen: A Critical Matter of Life-Support"...but in general you are right.. if you only got back about 500-900 years people did not live impressivly long at those times...
@doggieGZ And if you think you have any impressive canine teeth that can rip chunks of flesh out a raw running away cow and you can open your mouth as far as a lion, than yea go ahead and eat that cow or what ever animal creature you prefer..
If you can, you can sign up to be in the book of records and become very famous..since a tinny jaw of a human can only open wide enough to bite into Orange..a lion can bit of you're head..
@doggieGZ And I really don't care how long super primitive humans cooked food since I am not 1 of of those super primitive human...this 2011 ...humans can eat anything too survive, so in the winter (millions of years ago) if there was nothing else but flesh to eat you and I will eat it too survive no choice.... but again this is 2011 and we have a choice!....check out DR. Brian Clement on YouTupe or Vimeo.. see what he says about the raw vegan diet and eating meat...
@NuclearNympho Brian Clement isn't a real doctor. He has a "Naturopathic Medical Doctorate", which isn't anything as vigorous in education or training as an actual Medical Doctor. He makes money off selling herbal supplements on his website, and promoting raw food diet seminars.
@doggieGZ thats right!! Brian is a much better breed of healer than "normal" medical doctors who kill and injure millions of people a year in the US alone...Brian has healed people from all types of cancers, diabetes, etc, etc,...when medical docs could not help those people...he is amazing!!!!
@NuclearNympho yeah, herbal doctors are so much better. They've been around for thousands of years and never found out how to cure the common fever. All of this modern science and discovery is nonsense.
@doggieGZ the common fever?...lol....you mean the common cold....its very simple you only get a cold if your immune system is overloaded with toxins in the first place...the toxins you get from eating crap like cooked food, and lost of bad carbs...no virus can touch you, no matter how many people sneeze on you if you're body is clean and gets enough sleep...you keep your body clean with raw vegan food......no herbal doctors necessary in the first place...
@doggieGZ PS... a fever is only an expression of your body, it heats up to kill the virus or germs....the fever heals you....the fever actually is your medicine, white blood cells and other protective mechanisms in the body work more efficiently at higher temperatures. Getting a fever is an important part of your body's defense against infection.
@NuclearNympho And fevers themselves are also damaging to the body when prolonged. Which is why before modern medicine, no herbal doctors even knew how to treat infections which would lead to fevers, which would usually end up being life threatening illness. People used to die from the most simple infections, such as small pox and staphylococcus. Your whole arguement that herbal doctors are superior is complete nonsense.
@TheLoserKingdom of course food was also an important part. today we know much more about the human body and how its working. hence, we also know how optimal nutrition works
@MuayThaiViking Exactly. But I don't think that it is fast food that makes us live longer, I think it is because we understand how fantastic fruits and vegeatbles are for us (as well as many other foods) and the fact that we try to cut down on many fatty meats and having too much bread. Ev people stopped eating so much junk and started adding more of these 'raw foods', )you don't have to go completely raw) when combined with modern and natural medicine, we could increase our life expectancy!
@TheLoserKingdom i agree! personally i try to eat food as clean as possible. food that hasnt gone through all kinds of processes. but i dont believe in the theory that all kinds of food must be eaten raw. there are many downsides by eating raw meat compared to cooked meat. the risk of diseases huge for instance
for some people out there that takes this to the extreme by eaten raw chicken for example. its keeping away from junk food that makes them healthy, not the all the raw food IMO
i dont believe in the raw food concept. of course there are benefits if the average western person switch to this diet. from fast food to lots of fruits, vegetables, fish etc,
its not the fact that the food is raw that its healthier, its because raw diets usually has a lot more 'greens' that many people lack nowadays
if i eat a raw chicken i would become sick. if i eat it after being cooked properly, its a healthy source of proteins. doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out whats healthy
@Vegirobin I completely relate. Going vegan certainly made me healthier than I was eating SAD, but the results were minimal until I went low fat raw in 2007. Only then was I able to eradicate my anemia, RLS, joint pain, seasonal colds, headaches, and finally lose weight. :)
@Vegirobin Just because you're on the raw diet doesn't mean you don't deal with chemicals and pesticides and GMOs etc. It is still very important where your food comes from. I don't think that meat is bad for you, In fact I think it is very important, but its so hard to get "good" meat lately that is naturally grown. Thats why I like elk meat.
i cant wait to see myself in three months... ive been on the path or 6 days and my body loves it!!! im 5'7 starting weight 195 now 190.8 looking to be 150
Yes, and then we started cooking meat and our brains evolved a great deal due to the cooked proteins. You vegetarian/raw food enthusiasts all look like emaciated jews.
Honey, do your research. When you cook food, you kill essential enzymes and nutrients that aid your body in digesting and other important functions. People have to go to the doctors constantly because they're constantly putting SHIT in their body such as dairy. People have been able to cure diabetes, cancer, STDs etc. from eating a raw food diet. Babies are starting to be born with arthritis. We're doing something very wrong. The western "medicine" is the biggest money making scheme.
Yeah, and look where we are now. PACKED FULL OF HEALTH PROBLEMS.
Honey, do some research. When you cook food you kill important enzymes and nutrients that aid in digestion and other viable functions. People are constantly sick because they're constantly putting SHIT in their body. People have been able to cure diabetes, cancer, STD's etc from going raw. Don't let the western "medicine" industry fool you. It's the biggest money making scheme next to oil.
@Mrgyn That's so narrow-minded! Finding a raw food body builder(in the conventional definition of a body builder) isl like asking to find a raw food obese. Quite to the contrary there are professional athletes who are raw vegans: Tim VanOrden (California champion mountain runner) Bob Mionske (former National Champion Cyclist -USA) Brendan Brazier (2003 Canadian 50km Ultra Marathon Champion) James Southwood (French Kickboxing Champ, undefeated for all of 2006).
@Mrgyn In other sports in parts of the world where raw food diet isn't as far-fetched as in places that McDonalds, KFC, etc has been the culturally accepted mammary glands for the masses. You will find a lot of those athletes doing well in their sports and being world class competitors just the same. Ask Guus Hiddink who had a raw vegan dietitian to get his S.Korean football team ready for the '02 World Cup.Ask Stanley Matthews; English Football Legend & only man to play top flight pass age 50.
matt danzig, ufc..grant it hes vegan, but he doesnt need this garbage animal protein and all this other bullshit your are "supossed to have" and also jake shields mma fighter is vegetarian...the reason you dont see more athletes doing this is because they dont have the will power to try it...oh also tightend tony gonzalez was in bad shape therefore he adopted a vegan diet
@Mrgyn I eat 100% raw food and I am always full. I'm never hungry and I can eat as much as I want, because the more I eat the more nutrients are fed into my system. So the rumor that we are "starving to death" is only said by those who've never even tried to eat this way. Changing to raw changed my life.
When people put the body in a cycle of cardio, weights, or yoga, tai chi, qi gong, etc, the body gains energy. Some people who stick to it enough get to the point of not needing to eat or drink, believe it or not. It's called breatharianism, it's not starvation or anorexia because you have to really train the body/mind to not "wait to die". Colon cleansing helps... I favorited key videos for those interested, especially Jericho Sunfire check out his story it will make more sense
Ninkapanda, you will feel hungry for the first few days. I've done it. But that is just your body getting used to the different way of eating. What i do is drink a lot of water and eat nuts and fruits. And after a few days you will be fine. I just love it. I'm still not doing it 100 % but believe me my whole way of thinking and eating are different. You then realize how enslaved we are to cooked food . But the mental clarity and feeling that comes with raw is phenomenal. it takes time
Raw food "diet" isn't just greens, fruits, vegitables, seeds, and nuts, add superfoods, wild greens, sea vegetables, herbs, and wild herbs, essential oils, and many other things, you would not only transform your life, you would literally reshape your whole being, character, personality, your energy, your whole state of existing would be like living as a superhero, an elite person. Superfood for a superhuman, you cease to be subhuman which is the average person on the SAD diet. Fire destroys.
@julianraw I was interesting in that raw diet... But what you mention above, I am scared that I am not going to be able to feel full between meals, And that I will be just constantly eating.
@NinkaPanda It is a very good question, as I have been through that, but what i did was inform mysel on the whole thing, i been studying the rawfood and al nutrition for about 10-12 years, I would reccomend you get yourself informed on what you can eat, whats out there, what will happen ect., look up david wolfe on utube here, hes the leading authority on rawfood nutrition. But you feel "full" with cooked food cuz we over eat it, with raw it will be by instinct, ill send you a pm with links.
@NinkaPanda Its happening for me. I have been trying to go raw, but fail because I consistently feel hungry. However, if you are raw, you can eat as much food as you want. It will not hinder your goals (weight loss, energy, etc. whatever goal it is).
But as I go on this journey, I find some raw foods fill me up and others don't. I guess it is an experimental process.
Hey, check out Brad's Raw Chips. The chips are made using organic vegetables grown by local farmers in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Blended with raw flax seeds, buckwheat groats, and spices. They are truly the healthiest chip in the world. Check out my channel for more news and information!
Im a personal trainer, nutrition and health researcher & experimentalists.
People are educated in the myths of so called health and nutrition and unfortunately there health suffers due to this. We are exposing the protein & supplementation myths & scams so people can achieve great health.
We believe great health is a choice & we are helping bring forth the revolution of SELF care so people can educate themselves & have great health. I wish you well on your quest. Peace, Paul.
We may be omnivores, we may be carnivores, we may be rat eaters for all I care... All I know is that I am as healthy as I can be, I look fabulous and slim, my skin looks impeccable, my muscles are hard and I have enough energy for the two of me. Depression also gone. I think these facts speak more than enough for themselves? You want discussion? This ends the discussion. Eat your meat and live your normal, short and unhealthy life. Nobody forces you to eat veggies and fruits. Cheers! :)))
why are those people look so shocked that she lost so much weight? She ate fruits and veggies, that's gonna make you healthier and the weight is going to drop off automatically, i don't believe back in the bible days people ate as much meat as we do now, probably very little. i think they mostly ate fruits and veggies. so many diets pills and drinks, and powders and books and so on. and all we need is fruits and veggies., i think we are being conned, lol
My canine teeth are not like that of any other carnivore I know. Take my dog for example. Her canines are way sharper then mine. Meaning her teeth were actually meant for ripping into flesh, ours are not. Even if you look at the rest of any carnivores teeth, they are all sharper than ours. We are definitely flat toothed. More for grinding then ripping.
@Treklady Firstly you don't have canines, you have cuspids. Secondly they aren't carnivores teeth, they are omnivores teeth. It isn't a 0 or 100 proposition. A lot of animals eat a blend of things.
We are not ancient man. We are sad, S.A.D. Americans. The proof is in the double blind, human studies and research that is unbiased. It does not take a rocket scientist to see that eating more plant material is healthier. And as far as testing on animals? If you can't eat it, do not put it on your body. ie lotions, shampoos, toothpaste, make up etc.
@heidibesse123 Actually, it did take science to know what plant food could do. Ancient man(most of which died young) knew nothing about vitamins and it's scientists/medical researchers who promote more plant food in people's diets. Not the business execs who promote Micky Ds. Do you brush your teeth? Do you use soap?
The "other girl" didn't stay raw! She didn't lose weight. She ate tons of cooked food and didn't follow the program. She was "ignored" because she caused their team to not win ... and there wasn't anything really to be said about her.
OMGGGGGGGGG You truly do believe what you are saying! Perhaps it is true hormones in dead animal flesh do make folks lose their sense of rationality. You can't possibly believe the things you said. If you do...how sad.
And the scientific basis of that lies within what? Vegans are more violent than regular people. Look at ALF. You don't see any of us meat-eaters tossing molotovs into PETA's headquarters.
Another thing is that human beings are primarily carnivorous anyway, which is why when we eat plant matter, a good but of it remains undigested and unused, as can be seen in one's shit.
HUH??? "Vegans violent"??? You must be an avid Fox news viewer not to mention a dead animal flesh eater. I cannot even describe the volumes of proven research that shows how eating dead animal flesh aka meat is deadly for humans. We are made for plant consumption.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No, we are not made for plant consumption and most of the research that says we are has been made by people who are incredibly biased one way or the other. We cannot digest plant matter the same way we do meat. We are meant to eat meat supplemented with fruit and vegetables to a lesser extent. That is why vegans tend to be less healthy.
And again I tell you that you don't see a single meat eater tossing molotovs in PETA buildings.
That's a fallacy. Show me that research and I'll show you the meat, dairy companies that funded that research. Consuming dead animal flesh is acidic. If you were meant to eat meat, then you should be prepared to catch it prey with your hands, render it helpless with your teeth, consume fat, viscera, bone, cartilage with ease. Your digestive track is long not short as with true carnivores. Meat Eaters run the animal torture labs they don't need to throw firebombs.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Animal torture labs? That's ridiculous. Animal testing saves human lives. Human lives are worth much more than that of an animal, and it's much safer to test on an animal than on a human.
The reason why we don't need to catch flesh with our hands and teeth and consume its bones is because we are more advanced on an evolutionary scale. We're the ultimate predator because we use our brains and tools to hunt and eat.
What do you think ancient man did before agriculture caught on?
You want to go vegan more power to you. But meat doesn't have to mean commercial meat. Our digestive track is acidic, we do not have a rumen. Evolutionary biologists, who are not part of a conspiracy, have shown that it was because we became hunters that we were able to develop a large brain. You have canines. The shape of adult molars is not similar to cows, they are not grinders they are breakers to get to bone marrow. Ethically vegans maybe right, however biologically we are omnivores.
Based on what? Vegan is great, its a perfectly fine option. It is a moral distinction some choose to make but it is not based on our biology. However, let's be fair, even as a moralistic choice its lacking. For instance it impossible in most of the US and Canada to be a raw food vegan without importing food from south america and china, hardly eating locally. Also all of the manures used on a large organic farm require the meat industry. Bone and blood meal? Soil additives in organic. etc...
My family've been farmers up until recently. You can buy big bags of bone/blood at any farm or garden supply store. They measure manure per acre by the ton. For salad that is usually chicken/turkey or in coastal zones composted fish. I feel for Veg*ns, I just find it insulting to be told I am unnatural for eating meat since we have no indication we ever did anything else. But we evolve, if vegan really meant less suffering I'd be there. It doesn't, it just is easier to hide it from yourself.
@elegiacsolitude What are your next ten words? I don't feel like any of us should be against meat, organic farming or any of it. We should be looking for whats better and supporting that. Organic is 1000x better then factory farms and corn/soy subsides, better then GMO. Buy organic unless you find better then organic and then buy that. I am against Monsanto...other then that I am groping for a better answer. Like the rest of the world I suppose.
The comment "it was because we became hunters that we were able to develop a large brain" can be a bit misleading. It has to do with the amount of time hunting may take over the time it could take to find equivalent energy/protein/minerals/nutrients from non animal sources. And the variation in that is different per region and season.
However, it may be that longevity will come from more advances sources of nutrition. And that in modern society, a big brain can be achieved from a plant based source, if the person is able to get necessary nutrition to support it, and having the time to train and enhance it's power, with knowledge and mental skills exercise.
@lorettab77 I notice you have no response to the use of animal products in your farmed organic produce. How are you less culpable and more holy then those of us who ate the meat that provided you with the carrot? I agree with the morality of veganism, not the biology. You have a pancreas that produces meat digesting enzymes but not enzymes for breaking down cellulose, the major component of plant matter. Why? Adaptation to eating meat. It's a fact, and I don't work for anyone but me.
I do know from the reading that I have done the human digestive system for the most part has not adapted to eating animal protein, due to the makeup of pretty much all humans. If one is to eat meat, one must eat it close to raw and by itself not with any other type of protein (ie. plant protein) nor with starches as the pancreas works on one substance at a time not both at the same time.
@Rurne Yes animals are killed in wheat production. That being said, you, being a meat eater, eat wheat too, if not directly, then through the grain the farm animals eat. No matter how turn this discussion, being Vegan will be the lesser of two evils. You can then argue if the difference is too small to give up the sweet-meaty-lifestyle, you defend so hard. But you wont - I know you people, you are afraid to admit that you are assholes. This is a provocation, I hope you take the bait.
The wheat and grain they eat is inedible to humans. Also, research the "Least Harm Principle." Look at the numbers. Traditional agriculure + forage production for ruminants would result in 0.9 billion animals dead, on a 60million hectare plot. Conversely, if the same plot were used for vegan/soy production? 1.2 billion dead. So it's bad to kill cows, chickens and pigs, but not field mice?
Point being, animals will *always* die so that humans can eat.
@Rurne Chill with the language. Jeez, getting all worked up, but then again i was baiting - you just got hooked. You have fair arguments, but your connections are messed up. Animals will allways die = people should eat meat. ? I don't get that, that's illogical to me. I guess you are arguing that the vegan food productions kill more, than the production used for fodder?
@Rurne you fail, intentional killing is a lot different. at least mice get to be outside, run, use their limbs and explore before they get killed. Farm animals are captive, abused, sick and tortured. Accidents are different than institutionalized suffering. Reducing suffering is eating less or no meat. It is not about being wrong or right, its about appreciating your digestive system and realizing less is more.
And that's different from free-range animals, how? Your definitions aren't much different than what organic proponents put forth. Again, address my argument for the "Least Harm Principle."
@Kybrnetik "This is a provocation, I hope you take the bait." You cant make, what you consider to be, a legitimate point and then say that... thats just being a douche bag
@DanielEBurnette Nope, it's trolling, or actually trollbaiting. A perfectly legitimate use of internet rhetorics. The video is about how good veganism is, Rurne flamed it and tryed his best to be provocative, and I trollbaited him. Nothing douchy about that, it's just how the internet works. And at least I was honest about my intentions.
@lorettab77 "Consuming dead animal flesh is acidic"
Citrus fruit is acidic. Does that mean we shouldn't eat that too?
Also you seem to be trying to compare human means of eating meat with animal technique. Despite what some will have you believe we are human beings. We have ALWAYS been human beings and we don't use the same methods. Dr. John John McArdle (who is a vegetarian) has an article called "Humans Are Omnivores". A very good read.
@lorettab77 We do catch our own foods- after all fish and chickens down walk up to my porch and kill themselves in surrender. And humans do not have long digestive tracks, herbivores do: cows have 4 stomachs and an incredibly long and complexed digestive systems. Humans, which are omnivores, do not. Anatomically we are classic omnivores. How many herbivorous animals can you name that have canine teeth?
@DanielEBurnette Fruit bats, hippos and apes have canine-like teeth though they are herbivores. Human's stomach acid is, on average, 3 times less acidic than that of omnivores and carnivores.
@emilyj1987 Almost all ape species, aside from fruit, also eat bugs and small mammals making them omnivorous. Also hippos have been recently found to move to a strictly meat diet when the vegetation growth dies off, thus having them been relabeled as omnivores.
@DanielEBurnette You kind of just gave examples of animals who can, when in a pinch, switch diet types in order to survive. We as humans are now capable of getting fruits and vegetables year round. The ability to survive as omnivores was likely an evolutionary adaptation. Now instead of surviving and getting more and more obese on the standard american diet, we're capable of nourishing our bodies and becoming healthier through such changes in diet. (continued)
@emilyj1987 No, you gave those example, and no, they do not "switch" their diet, this is their standard eating cycle throughout their life. What you're suggesting these animals are doing is actually what you're doing as a person, only you're not switching your diet because you in a "pinch," but instead because you have the means to. Do not try to make eating meat derogatory by tying it to words like "obese" and "american diet" they are not the same. Your note on energy is speculation not fact
@DanielEBurnette Right, because every raw foodist I know willingly goes out of their way to take on a socially abnormal diet just to lie about its effects and be "holier than thou"... Honestly, vegetarians and vegans are typically huger assholes about that, while raw foodists are very zen and laissez faire. I honestly don't comprehend how anyone can deny that this diet is healthier than your standard american diet (that's what it is. if you can think of other nomenclature, I'm happy to oblige)
@emilyj1987 I never said raw foodist had a pompous persona about what they eat or anything about its cultural relevance. Im speaking anatomically mixed with lifestyle choices. You are changing your bodies designed food intake (however much) because you have the ability to do so. I dont believe that is the most right approach for your health.
People everywhere in the world eat meat- "Standard American Diet" by title is conflicting with this premise. Its not nomenclature, its wrong titling.
@DanielEBurnette True, changing one's diet can have drastic effects. Some negative effects of raw foodism can be detox symptoms from all the poor habits that person had before. Additionally, people who don't educate themselves about their food intake can get deficiencies. And people who don't wash their veggies can get e coli (raw spinach, anyone?). But aside from that, the overall benefits of the diet far outweigh the costs. (Yeah, it was a stretch going to diet snobbery in my last post)
@DanielEBurnette I agree with that. My thing is I just dont sit on either extreme: I dont eat mcdonalds 10 times a week (actually I never eat mcdonalds) but I also dont think eating strictly raw vegetables is the end all be all on proper food consumption. For me its balance, I grow many organic herbs and veggies in my yard, if you eat meat go easy on the red stuff, dont over do it on dairy either, grains provide calories for fuel so dont be afraid of them. I grab from everywhere with food views
@DanielEBurnette All raw foodists have mountains more of energy than any meat eater I've EVER encountered, and I participate in lots of athletics, so I've seen a lot of fit omnivores. Raw foodists always look, act, and feel much healthier. They're THRIVING on this diet, not just surviving.
Raw foodists should be careful about Vitamin B12 deficiency, which can be fatal. Vitamin B12 is hardly found in fruits and vegetables. There are fortified cereals that have it, but I don't know if raw foodists eat that. They have B12 supplements.
@pfowler20 Wikipedia has this quote on their page about Spirulina: "The bioavailability of vitamin B12 in Spirulina is in dispute." I think it would be better to take a B12 supplement. Also, since there are proteins in many vegetables, protein shouldn't be a problem at all if you eat enough of the right vegetables, nuts, etc. But B12 deficiency is something to check into, and algae, seaweed, etc., might not be efficient. There are a lot of hokey sites and claims out there.
@pfowler20 you know that your food-animals are just injected with B-12, right? Our soil is so depleted, and most animals raised for food are not eating grass ANYWAY, so they are given B12. So, it's better to just take a supplement if you're concerned with B12.
@cucumber202, i have seen a documentary where they showed how some animals and humans eat a particular fly that is high in protein, higher, supposedly than any other known meat. The fly may they were eating may be the air borne equivalent of Krill, which whales eat.
Every nutritionist knows that everyone's body is different. The only thing nutritionists can say for everyone is less fast food and more vegetables. Not even every nutritionist agrees on the issues of fruit and protein.
true, it just bugs me that every douche comes out with a book or video about how their diet is the best for a healthy life, just because it worked for them doesnt mean they can scam people
they do look a completly different, your problem is that they're body shapes didnt change .. A womens body is goign to stay the same.. and even 30 - 40 pounds in three months is a huge deal!!!>. remember they did naturally as well.. the right way.
The best would be to go all organic. Stay away from processed foods and buy everything from Organic Markets of Farmers Fares. I am 80% Raw 20% Cooked and so fare I feel great.
Humans are the only species to eat cooked food and are the most out of touch with nature. Eating raw is the most natural diet, however we have the freedom of choice to be as 'unnatural' as we wish.
This is somewhat incorrect. Korea has developed a small industry that makes raw grain/meal, that's flash freeze-dried, crushed, and mixed according to Chinese Medicine Theory to your body type. Very satisfying, convenient, 'not bad' taste.
if u eat a raw food diet u'll get side effects at first but it'll be short lived until u start feeling great n being healthy so if u feel sick at first trying it don't give on it so fast thinking u weren't enough nutrients or something
The idea of going raw appeals to me because I love veggies, but completely meat free worries me a bit because of the lack of B-12 in your diet. I guess you can take supplements, but if you don't does that mean the raw diet can be dangerous?

Verseaurainbows 6 months ago
Raw food is the way to go, not because its a diet... but because raw is really the way our ancestors were eating for millions of years. Mainly fruits and veggies... some meats but NOT nearly as much! LIVING FOOD. Thats how we are biologically evolved to live :) So thats whats works best for our bodies

I think people dieting in general makes them feel sick. Releasing toxins from fat cells never feels good but how much greens in your diet can make the difference. Lots of green juice can get toxins out of your system faster. I'm 11 weeks raw and its been only good for my energy, and anti-aging:)

Raw hempseed and kale are the two healthiest foods I can think of. I eat both everyday. That doesn't mean I don't have the occasional broiled meat, panfried fish, or pizza. Cholesterol is important in the diet too. The only time I get overweight is if I start drinking.

@NuclearNympho it's definitely the latest fad diet. Kind of taking over for the Atkins diet as the modern "miracle cure" diet.
doggieGZ 6 months ago
@doggieGZ never hurt of the miracle cure diet....and the atkins diet is one of most unhealthy diets you can get on. raw food is much as a "fad" as simbly wanting to breath the purest oxygen you can get... ....and since all humans actually all creatures on this planed are naturally raw fooders and have been for millions of years this "fad" or raw food has been going on a littel too long ( miilions of years lol...) 2 ever be called a fad....don't you think?
NuclearNympho 6 months ago
@NuclearNympho Yeah but how long can have humans been cooking food by the fire? The raw food diet also dictates complete abstinence from any kind of meat. It's basically vegetarianism but also excluding cooking vegetables. And yet every single human on this planet was born with canine teeth.
I think the health benefits come from just eating more vegetables in general. Also if you breathed nothing but pure oxygen you'd die from respiratory alkylosis. Most natural air is 80% nitrogen.
doggieGZ 6 months ago
@doggieGZ not true there are plenty of raw people who do eat raw meat...( I don't recommend that of course)...
Clean air contains 19%–21% Oxygen. In ancient times people lived longer because the air was composed of 40% Oxygen. Sadly, the air is decreasing in Oxygen daily. and nobody will be alive on 100% oxygen for too long as much as you will thrown in too much clean water...that's clear logic..so i don't know why you even mentioned that..
NuclearNympho 6 months ago
@NuclearNympho To say people in ancient times lived longer is just plain wrong. I have no idea where you came up with that one. Many of the original human inhabitants of Europe were found to not live past 30 years of age.
doggieGZ 6 months ago
@doggieGZ I got it from this website....Google "Oxygen: A Critical Matter of Life-Support"...but in general you are right.. if you only got back about 500-900 years people did not live impressivly long at those times...
NuclearNympho 6 months ago
@doggieGZ And if you think you have any impressive canine teeth that can rip chunks of flesh out a raw running away cow and you can open your mouth as far as a lion, than yea go ahead and eat that cow or what ever animal creature you prefer..
If you can, you can sign up to be in the book of records and become very famous..since a tinny jaw of a human can only open wide enough to bite into Orange..a lion can bit of you're head..
NuclearNympho 6 months ago
@doggieGZ And I really don't care how long super primitive humans cooked food since I am not 1 of of those super primitive human...this 2011 ...humans can eat anything too survive, so in the winter (millions of years ago) if there was nothing else but flesh to eat you and I will eat it too survive no choice.... but again this is 2011 and we have a choice!....check out DR. Brian Clement on YouTupe or Vimeo.. see what he says about the raw vegan diet and eating meat...
NuclearNympho 6 months ago
@NuclearNympho Brian Clement isn't a real doctor. He has a "Naturopathic Medical Doctorate", which isn't anything as vigorous in education or training as an actual Medical Doctor. He makes money off selling herbal supplements on his website, and promoting raw food diet seminars.
doggieGZ 6 months ago
@doggieGZ thats right!! Brian is a much better breed of healer than "normal" medical doctors who kill and injure millions of people a year in the US alone...Brian has healed people from all types of cancers, diabetes, etc, etc,...when medical docs could not help those people...he is amazing!!!!
NuclearNympho 6 months ago
@NuclearNympho yeah, herbal doctors are so much better. They've been around for thousands of years and never found out how to cure the common fever. All of this modern science and discovery is nonsense.
doggieGZ 6 months ago
@doggieGZ the common fever?...lol....you mean the common cold....its very simple you only get a cold if your immune system is overloaded with toxins in the first place...the toxins you get from eating crap like cooked food, and lost of bad carbs...no virus can touch you, no matter how many people sneeze on you if you're body is clean and gets enough sleep...you keep your body clean with raw vegan food......no herbal doctors necessary in the first place...
NuclearNympho 5 months ago
@NuclearNympho can you even define for me, one specific molecule from carbohydrates that's considered a toxin?
doggieGZ 5 months ago
@doggieGZ PS... a fever is only an expression of your body, it heats up to kill the virus or germs....the fever heals you....the fever actually is your medicine, white blood cells and other protective mechanisms in the body work more efficiently at higher temperatures. Getting a fever is an important part of your body's defense against infection.
NuclearNympho 5 months ago
@NuclearNympho And fevers themselves are also damaging to the body when prolonged. Which is why before modern medicine, no herbal doctors even knew how to treat infections which would lead to fevers, which would usually end up being life threatening illness. People used to die from the most simple infections, such as small pox and staphylococcus. Your whole arguement that herbal doctors are superior is complete nonsense.

@MuayThaiViking It wasn't the food that made them live so short. It was the living conditions.
TheLoserKingdom 1 year ago
@TheLoserKingdom of course food was also an important part. today we know much more about the human body and how its working. hence, we also know how optimal nutrition works
MuayThaiViking 1 year ago
@MuayThaiViking Exactly. But I don't think that it is fast food that makes us live longer, I think it is because we understand how fantastic fruits and vegeatbles are for us (as well as many other foods) and the fact that we try to cut down on many fatty meats and having too much bread. Ev people stopped eating so much junk and started adding more of these 'raw foods', )you don't have to go completely raw) when combined with modern and natural medicine, we could increase our life expectancy!
TheLoserKingdom 1 year ago
@TheLoserKingdom i agree! personally i try to eat food as clean as possible. food that hasnt gone through all kinds of processes. but i dont believe in the theory that all kinds of food must be eaten raw. there are many downsides by eating raw meat compared to cooked meat. the risk of diseases huge for instance
for some people out there that takes this to the extreme by eaten raw chicken for example. its keeping away from junk food that makes them healthy, not the all the raw food IMO
MuayThaiViking 1 year ago
i dont believe in the raw food concept. of course there are benefits if the average western person switch to this diet. from fast food to lots of fruits, vegetables, fish etc,
its not the fact that the food is raw that its healthier, its because raw diets usually has a lot more 'greens' that many people lack nowadays
if i eat a raw chicken i would become sick. if i eat it after being cooked properly, its a healthy source of proteins. doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out whats healthy

@Vegirobin Just because you're on the raw diet doesn't mean you don't deal with chemicals and pesticides and GMOs etc. It is still very important where your food comes from.

We are not ancient man. We are sad, S.A.D. Americans. The proof is in the double blind, human studies and research that is unbiased. It does not take a rocket scientist to see that eating more plant material is healthier. And as far as testing on animals? If you can't eat it, do not put it on your body. ie lotions, shampoos, toothpaste, make up etc.
heidibesse123 1 year ago 53
@heidibesse123 Actually, it did take science to know what plant food could do. Ancient man(most of which died young) knew nothing about vitamins and it's scientists/medical researchers who promote more plant food in people's diets. Not the business execs who promote Micky Ds. If the world ate raw fruits and veggies or even just vegetarian, non-GMO foods...the planet would be more peaceful with more astute individuals.
lorettab77 2 years ago
And the scientific basis of that lies within what? Vegans are more violent than regular people. Look at ALF. You don't see any of us meat-eaters tossing molotovs into PETA's headquarters.
Another thing is that human beings are primarily carnivorous anyway, which is why when we eat plant matter, a good but of it remains undigested and unused, as can be seen in one's shit.
Cainus44 1 year ago
HUH??? "Vegans violent"??? You must be an avid Fox news viewer not to mention a dead animal flesh eater. I cannot even describe the volumes of proven research that shows how eating dead animal flesh aka meat is deadly for humans. We are made for plant consumption.
lorettab77 1 year ago 4
This comment has received too many negative votes show
No, we are not made for plant consumption and most of the research that says we are has been made by people who are incredibly biased one way or the other. We cannot digest plant matter the same way we do meat. We are meant to eat meat supplemented with fruit and vegetables to a lesser extent. That is why vegans tend to be less healthy.
And again I tell you that you don't see a single meat eater tossing molotovs in PETA buildings.
Cainus44 1 year ago
That's a fallacy. Show me that research and I'll show you the meat, dairy companies that funded that research. Consuming dead animal flesh is acidic. If you were meant to eat meat, then you should be prepared to catch it prey with your hands, render it helpless with your teeth, consume fat, viscera, bone, cartilage with ease. Your digestive track is long not short as with true carnivores. Meat Eaters run the animal torture labs they don't need to throw firebombs.
lorettab77 1 year ago 40
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Animal torture labs? That's ridiculous. Animal testing saves human lives. Human lives are worth much more than that of an animal, and it's much safer to test on an animal than on a human.
The reason why we don't need to catch flesh with our hands and teeth and consume its bones is because we are more advanced on an evolutionary scale. We're the ultimate predator because we use our brains and tools to hunt and eat.
What do you think ancient man did before agriculture caught on?
Cainus44 1 year ago
You want to go vegan more power to you. But meat doesn't have to mean commercial meat. Our digestive track is acidic, we do not have a rumen. Evolutionary biologists, who are not part of a conspiracy, have shown that it was because we became hunters that we were able to develop a large brain. You have canines. The shape of adult molars is not similar to cows, they are not grinders they are breakers to get to bone marrow. Ethically vegans maybe right, however biologically we are omnivores.
MichaelnChristine 1 year ago
The American diet is truly SAD (standard American diet), and nope we are not meant to be omnivorous.
lorettab77 1 year ago 10
Based on what? Vegan is great, its a perfectly fine option. It is a moral distinction some choose to make but it is not based on our biology. However, let's be fair, even as a moralistic choice its lacking. For instance it impossible in most of the US and Canada to be a raw food vegan without importing food from south america and china, hardly eating locally. Also all of the manures used on a large organic farm require the meat industry. Bone and blood meal? Soil additives in organic. etc...
MichaelnChristine 1 year ago 2
bone and blood meal? In soil? Where did you get this info? I'd like to read it.
lorettab77 1 year ago
My family've been farmers up until recently. You can buy big bags of bone/blood at any farm or garden supply store. They measure manure per acre by the ton. For salad that is usually chicken/turkey or in coastal zones composted fish. I feel for Veg*ns, I just find it insulting to be told I am unnatural for eating meat since we have no indication we ever did anything else. But we evolve, if vegan really meant less suffering I'd be there. It doesn't, it just is easier to hide it from yourself.

That's why I'm against organic. I am 100% against animal farming, and the growing of organic food directly supports animal farming.
elegiacsolitude 1 year ago
@elegiacsolitude What are your next ten words? I don't feel like any of us should be against meat, organic farming or any of it. We should be looking for whats better and supporting that. Organic is 1000x better then factory farms and corn/soy subsides, better then GMO. Buy organic unless you find better then organic and then buy that. I am against Monsanto...other then that I am groping for a better answer. Like the rest of the world I suppose.
MichaelnChristine 1 year ago
The comment "it was because we became hunters that we were able to develop a large brain" can be a bit misleading. It has to do with the amount of time hunting may take over the time it could take to find equivalent energy/protein/minerals/nutrients from non animal sources. And the variation in that is different per region and season.
upcycle 1 year ago

MichaelnChristine 1 year ago
@MichaelnChristine
I do know from the reading that I have done the human digestive system for the most part has not adapted to eating animal protein, due to the makeup of pretty much all humans. If one is to eat meat, one must eat it close to raw and by itself not with any other type of protein (ie. plant protein) nor with starches as the pancreas works on one substance at a time not both at the same time.
lorettab77 1 year ago
@lorettab77
This post is too retarded for words.
Do yourself a favor and google "guiltless grill"... run the hard numbers, and get your dura mater away from your ani internus.
Rurne 1 year ago
@Rurne Yes animals are killed in wheat production. That being said, you, being a meat eater, eat wheat too, if not directly, then through the grain the farm animals eat. No matter how turn this discussion, being Vegan will be the lesser of two evils. You can then argue if the difference is too small to give up the sweet-meaty-lifestyle, you defend so hard. But you wont - I know you people, you are afraid to admit that you are assholes. This is a provocation, I hope you take the bait.
Kybrnetik 11 months ago
@Kybrnetik
Fail.
Rurne 11 months ago
@Rurne Chill with the language. Jeez, getting all worked up, but then again i was baiting - you just got hooked. You have fair arguments, but your connections are messed up. Animals will allways die = people should eat meat. ? I don't get that, that's illogical to me. I guess you are arguing that the vegan food productions kill more, than the production used for fodder?
Kybrnetik 10 months ago
@Rurne you fail, intentional killing is a lot different. at least mice get to be outside, run, use their limbs and explore before they get killed. Farm animals are captive, abused, sick and tortured. Accidents are different than institutionalized suffering. Reducing suffering is eating less or no meat. It is not about being wrong or right, its about appreciating your digestive system and realizing less is more.
crabfishlion 10 months ago
@crabfishlion
And that's different from free-range animals, how? Your definitions aren't much different than what organic proponents put forth. Again, address my argument for the "Least Harm Principle."
Rurne 10 months ago
@Kybrnetik "This is a provocation, I hope you take the bait." You cant make, what you consider to be, a legitimate point and then say that... thats just being a douche bag
DanielEBurnette 8 months ago
@DanielEBurnette Nope, it's trolling, or actually trollbaiting. A perfectly legitimate use of internet rhetorics. The video is about how good veganism is, Rurne flamed it and tryed his best to be provocative, and I trollbaited him. Nothing douchy about that, it's just how the internet works. And at least I was honest about my intentions.
Kybrnetik 8 months ago
@lorettab77 "Consuming dead animal flesh is acidic"
Citrus fruit is acidic. Does that mean we shouldn't eat that too?
Also you seem to be trying to compare human means of eating meat with animal technique. Despite what some will have you believe we are human beings. We have ALWAYS been human beings and we don't use the same methods. Dr. John John McArdle (who is a vegetarian) has an article called "Humans Are Omnivores". A very good read.
PrincesseJen 11 months ago
@lorettab77 We do catch our own foods- after all fish and chickens down walk up to my porch and kill themselves in surrender. And humans do not have long digestive tracks, herbivores do: cows have 4 stomachs and an incredibly long and complexed digestive systems. Humans, which are omnivores, do not. Anatomically we are classic omnivores. How many herbivorous animals can you name that have canine teeth?
DanielEBurnette 8 months ago
@DanielEBurnette Fruit bats, hippos and apes have canine-like teeth though they are herbivores. Human's stomach acid is, on average, 3 times less acidic than that of omnivores and carnivores.
emilyj1987 8 months ago
@emilyj1987 Almost all ape species, aside from fruit, also eat bugs and small mammals making them omnivorous. Also hippos have been recently found to move to a strictly meat diet when the vegetation growth dies off, thus having them been relabeled as omnivores.
DanielEBurnette 8 months ago
@DanielEBurnette You kind of just gave examples of animals who can, when in a pinch, switch diet types in order to survive. We as humans are now capable of getting fruits and vegetables year round. The ability to survive as omnivores was likely an evolutionary adaptation. Now instead of surviving and getting more and more obese on the standard american diet, we're capable of nourishing our bodies and becoming healthier through such changes in diet. (continued)
emilyj1987 8 months ago
@emilyj1987 No, you gave those example, and no, they do not "switch" their diet, this is their standard eating cycle throughout their life. What you're suggesting these animals are doing is actually what you're doing as a person, only you're not switching your diet because you in a "pinch," but instead because you have the means to. Do not try to make eating meat derogatory by tying it to words like "obese" and "american diet" they are not the same. Your note on energy is speculation not fact
DanielEBurnette 8 months ago
@DanielEBurnette Right, because every raw foodist I know willingly goes out of their way to take on a socially abnormal diet just to lie about its effects and be "holier than thou"... Honestly, vegetarians and vegans are typically huger assholes about that, while raw foodists are very zen and laissez faire. I honestly don't comprehend how anyone can deny that this diet is healthier than your standard american diet (that's what it is. if you can think of other nomenclature, I'm happy to oblige)
emilyj1987 8 months ago
@emilyj1987 I never said raw foodist had a pompous persona about what they eat or anything about its cultural relevance. Im speaking anatomically mixed with lifestyle choices. You are changing your bodies designed food intake (however much) because you have the ability to do so. I dont believe that is the most right approach for your health.
People everywhere in the world eat meat- "Standard American Diet" by title is conflicting with this premise. Its not nomenclature, its wrong titling.
DanielEBurnette 8 months ago
@DanielEBurnette True, changing one's diet can have drastic effects. Some negative effects of raw foodism can be detox symptoms from all the poor habits that person had before. Additionally, people who don't educate themselves about their food intake can get deficiencies. And people who don't wash their veggies can get e coli (raw spinach, anyone?). But aside from that, the overall benefits of the diet far outweigh the costs. (Yeah, it was a stretch going to diet snobbery in my last post)
emilyj1987 8 months ago
@DanielEBurnette I agree with that. My thing is I just dont sit on either extreme: I dont eat mcdonalds 10 times a week (actually I never eat mcdonalds) but I also dont think eating strictly raw vegetables is the end all be all on proper food consumption. For me its balance, I grow many organic herbs and veggies in my yard, if you eat meat go easy on the red stuff, dont over do it on dairy either, grains provide calories for fuel so dont be afraid of them. I grab from everywhere with food views
DanielEBurnette 8 months ago
@DanielEBurnette All raw foodists have mountains more of energy than any meat eater I've EVER encountered, and I participate in lots of athletics, so I've seen a lot of fit omnivores. Raw foodists always look, act, and feel much healthier. They're THRIVING on this diet, not just surviving.

Raw foodists should be careful about Vitamin B12 deficiency, which can be fatal. Vitamin B12 is hardly found in fruits and vegetables. There are fortified cereals that have it, but I don't know if raw foodists eat that. They have B12 supplements.
checkoutlinejunk 2 years ago
raw foodists can get b12 from SPIRULINA.
pfowler20 2 years ago 3
@pfowler20 Wikipedia has this quote on their page about Spirulina: "The bioavailability of vitamin B12 in Spirulina is in dispute." I think it would be better to take a B12 supplement. Also, since there are proteins in many vegetables, protein shouldn't be a problem at all if you eat enough of the right vegetables, nuts, etc. But B12 deficiency is something to check into, and algae, seaweed, etc., might not be efficient. There are a lot of hokey sites and claims out there.
checkoutlinejunk 2 years ago
thanks didn't know that, i am still eating some meat for now for my b12 i need more research to see if i will give it up in the future.
pfowler20 2 years ago
@pfowler20 you know that your food-animals are just injected with B-12, right? Our soil is so depleted, and most animals raised for food are not eating grass ANYWAY, so they are given B12. So, it's better to just take a supplement if you're concerned with B12.
opiumpoppy 1 year ago
and if you wanted to know about protein, there is protein in many fruit and vegetables
pfowler20 2 years ago
@checkoutlinejunk david Wolfe eats ants for vit. B12. I tried it (the small ants) and you can't even taste them.
cucumber202 2 years ago
@cucumber202, i have seen a documentary where they showed how some animals and humans eat a particular fly that is high in protein, higher, supposedly than any other known meat. The fly may they were eating may be the air borne equivalent of Krill, which whales eat.

i hate nutritionists, i know my body better than they do, arrogant pricks thinking they know what every person should eat
crackwhen 2 years ago
Every nutritionist knows that everyone's body is different. The only thing nutritionists can say for everyone is less fast food and more vegetables. Not even every nutritionist agrees on the issues of fruit and protein.

The best would be to go all organic. Stay away from processed foods and buy everything from Organic Markets of Farmers Fares. I am 80% Raw 20% Cooked and so fare I feel great.
Iloenae 2 years ago 8
Mainstream nutritionists conclude the answer is not all-raw or all-cooked but a combination.
screenflicker1 2 years ago
Humans are the only species to eat cooked food and are the most out of touch with nature. Eating raw is the most natural diet, however we have the freedom of choice to be as 'unnatural' as we wish.
THC2369 2 years ago 9
Its too late because we've now evolved on cooked food. You can't eat grain raw but you can eat it cooked.
screenflicker1 2 years ago
This is somewhat incorrect. Korea has developed a small industry that makes raw grain/meal, that's flash freeze-dried, crushed, and mixed according to Chinese Medicine Theory to your body type. Very satisfying, convenient, 'not bad' taste.
reudeeph 2 years ago
if u eat a raw food diet u'll get side effects at first but it'll be short lived until u start feeling great n being healthy so if u feel sick at first trying it don't give on it so fast thinking u weren't enough nutrients or something
