LMAO so the alligator that growled at Sergeant Doakes in S2 E11 Of Dexter was HITTING on him!!! lol Doakes just walks away.. hmmm.. but if this is a mating call, I think it works... I feel like responding.. *purrrrrr*
@montivistaman a gator has a rounded snout and reach 19 to 20 ft long but that takes well over 100 years and do not get as big as a croc and a croc has a pointed snout and has been known to reach 28 ft long and a caiman is part of the crocadilian family but is a much smaller breed, i only know this cuz i hunt gators and i love em and i own a caiman haha
I remember hearing alligators when I lived along a bayou in Florida. But, I sure did not go out looking for them so I didn't know they arched their backs like that. Might have made a cool video but, I'm not that brave.
Its true. It is a mating call. They show how strong they are, by pushing themself up over the water. And when they are growling, they are actually not very dangerous. You could actually stand in the middle of 12 alligators while they were growling, without being attacked, unless they felt very threatend.
The roar for T Rex from Jurassic Park was created using the bellow from a baby elephant, the growl of a crocodile and the roar of a lion. That's why the sound is familiar. :)
But they're covered in feathers. Reptiles, like dinosaurs, wasn't covered in either feathers nor hair, just thick and rough skin which is used to 'absorb' the sunlight since reptiles are cold-blooded organisms :P
@Bernler75 Many of the Coelurosaurian theropods (of which birds, Tyrannosaurs, and Velociraptor are members) were covered in feathers. As far as that goes, I believe about 2.5 years ago there was a feathered Ornithischian (Triceratops, Stegosaurus, etc.) discovered in China.
As far as dinosaurs being ectothermic, that gets trickier. Early members might have been, but growth curves for T. rex show that it grew in a similar fashion to mammals and modern birds. =)
great growl it can be a death metal singer

@rudyf2387
Female humans get turned on by grotesquely and unnaturally large masses of muscle on men. Is that much better?
peel432 1 year ago
@peel432
unnatural? maybe if they use steroids... i don't think many people are turned on by that... but natural muscles, sure
