it would be awsome to have passengers and i know its expensive to just make one launch but im sure they would get more than enough money from many people wanting to explore space.
It's in a ballistical orbit so floats around in space whilst still travelling foreward at
a hell of a speed, but eventually starts to sink in a vertical descent as it enters the finel part of it's ballistic orbit and starts crashing the atmosphere - notice smoke streams. At this point you can't see this but it's penetrating the atmosphere and descending vertically at a very rapid rate.
Can someone explain to me whats going on here near the end? Does a parachute open or something? The quality is so low it's hard for me to get anything to scale. Is that an island or something at 6:35? When does it actually hit the water, and what the fuck is going on after that? It's like it bounced out of the water and is floating afterwards.
5:37 parachute opens to reduce the impact speed with the ocean. (this rockets are can be used again). I think at 6:35 it is possible to see small waves, doit by a falling debris, the same like you can see at 7:10 made by SRB
at the point that your are confused about, that is when the flying spaghetti monster came down to eat the rockets. We have to have the rockets to sacrifice to the spaghetti monster so he doesn't eat the shuttle.
Wouldnt that suck to go out of the aircraft to fix something and accidentally trip or something and you started drifting and floating away into deep space. I wonder how long you would last before you freezy or a space rock flies at you at 10000 miles an hour.LMFAO, oh man if you guys were high it would be pretty funny to think about
Yes, the bottom part is the orange main fuel tank being airborne into space. Notice how ice begin to form around the rifts-it's freezing out in space.
Well, the SRBs aren't going nearly as fast as the space shuttle's final speed, which is why they land not too far from Florida, instead of attaining orbit.
Keep in mind that they're technically not in space, but are at about 67 km at their highest point. The atmosphere becomes too thin for high-performance airplanes to fly at 100 km, and the highest parachute jump ever made was from about 30 km, for reference.
Please understand that the 100 Km / 60 Nm barrier of "space" is just at technical definition..
When the SRB's are jetisonned, the atmosphere look pretty thin to me (i.e. black), but of course - they don't have nearly high enough velocity to burn.
Still, if you look at 3:35 to 4:00 you'll see significant off-gasing.
i was completely mesmerized during the entire 7:38 of this video. Hya!! thanks for posting this and other of your great space shuttle videos!! the best!!
Great video! It's one thing to view the shuttle launch from the ground or see it on TV. But to see how the SRBs seperate as they are designed to and fall silently back to Earth is something really extraordinary to see. It's amazing where they can place this miniature video cameras. Thanks for the post!
Vertigo all the way. Love it!

It's cool how you can hear it falling into more and more dense air, plus seeing it enter the "sky". It must be actually quite peaceful in space.
punishedexistence 3 years ago
How the hell do they do this and avoid air traffic? I would shit myself if I was on a plane and then a dirty great rocket flew past my window!

Airspace is cleared prior to launch/separation of SRB's.

Holy crap the SRBs separates from space and slowly falls back to earth without breaking up in the athmosphere
