  • hey can anyone send me a link or some info about using backup collars works? i recently took in a pitbull that was going to be killed if he couldnt find a home. It looks like he might've been abused or so i don't know if i can trust him completely and i want to train him. He is only six months and has been trained for most things but he is ridiculously powerful and i know that choke collars can break their windpipes so i am getting a prong collar just for corrections

  • @laneige45 At 6 months old a prong collar is not the tool you want. Not only will it set your pup up for not responding in the furture, but you could seriously damage a growing pupppy. I suggest a Martingale collar, and many a haltie to teach not to pull.

  • @14Raine14 thank you very much :) i got him a regular harness because i saw he doesn't pull or even bark at anyone or any dog EVER even when they bark at him and he is doing just fine too :)

  • @laneige45 A Haltie is not a halter, it is a head collar. The only thing you'll want to watch with a harness is that if he does start pulling a harness will actually encourage him to pull, and pull hard! They can put all their weight into the front peice around the chest, which gives them twice the power. Good luck with your putty!

  • Stupid people shuldn't own a dog!!!

PS: To the people who say the Prong has to be right behind the neck and tight, need a doctor! You perverts always know where it hurts the most!!!

  • @fetterArsch no, it's to be being the ears and up on the neck so you don't KILL your dog.

  • @14Raine14 I'm not talking about killing, I'm talking about PAIN and the damage it can cause on throat and spine!

  • @fetterArsch no, you cause damage and pain by letting the collar slide. Not only do you have to apply a quarter of the amount of correction for the dog to respond, but there is no way you can damage the spine and thraot if you are up close to the ears and using the collar properly. The collar also doens't hurt the dog, go to the store and put one around your leg and pull. No punctures, no pain, a slight bit of annoyance.

  • @14Raine14 Lots of people make the mistake and lead the dog on the Prong collar only! Normally he needs a second(normal) collar to lead and if he needs correction then use the Prong.

Not all Prong collars have rounded ends! I saw a lot that still have sharp and partly uneven ends and some companies even sell some with pointy ends!:(

  • The Prong either will lose its effect(the dog can get used to it)or you can create a dangerous dog(because of the repeating pain he might think it comes from other things, like people, other dogs, cats, cars, etc!).

Also isn't it a bit too late to train a 9 month old dog? That clearly shows a mistake a lot of stupid people do, they train their dogs too late! And is the dog fully grown up he becomes harder to train and so they use pain and violence(Prongs, Electro shocks, etc) to train them!

  • You use it totally wrong!!! One leash should be connected with the Prong while another leash is connected with a normal(soft) collar! You lead the dog on the normal collar and only use the Prong for correction(if he does something wrong)! Leading a dog just on a Prong itself is wrong!

  • What a HORRIBLE video!! Prong collars are supposed to be snug, not too tight or too loose, and placed high up on the neck just below the ears, not at the bottom of the neck or the middle this could severely damage trachea - i.e. puncture the trachea, resulting in a huge vet bill for the dog owner and severe pain for the dog. THIS VIDEO SHOULD BE REMOVED. ... I bet she slipped the prong collar over the poor dogs head too!! If you see this lady coming towards your dog.. RUN!

  • "Hi, I'm a sick and twisted person who torchers animals."

  • EXPERT VILLAGE?!? What??? The only expertise I see is how to make a fool of yourself in front of real trainers. I have been training dogs for over 25 years. I have not seen such a wannabe in my life. This woman does not know how to fit a prong colar let alone use one.

  • What a dumb bitch! Another reason why woman should not handle animals

  • This so called "trainer" has no general idea of how to train a dog with a dog collar, and her making a video on dog training when she can't train a dog the right way with that specific collar is utterly stupid and useless, and is teaching people to do the wrong thing. First of all, she was correcting her beautiful dog for no specific reason, and the prong collar is to be fitted high up behind the ears, not that loose. Anyone who uses prong collars should know that. This tool is being misused!

  • What???? Is she a trainer for real???

Prong collar must fit on top of dog's neck.

I never ever heard such a shit in my life before.

    Nice work chick.. Good luck!!

  • Never ever let a dog pull on a prong collar! You're giving a correction for absolutely nothing in the beginning of the video. You do not know how to fit it right. The collar should fit up behind the ears, and should not slide around. Why would you make noise to get the dogs attention, give them a collar pop and keep walking. You keep looking back at the dog and slowing down when he does. Walk your pace, it's his job to walk in heel position, not yours to constantly wonder where he is.

  • this person doesnt even know how to fit the prong! expert village, wtf is wrong with you???

  • disgusting

  • Great way to train your dog and very safe if used properly. Some people just refuse to understand that!

  • Prong and choke collars can do much more damage than just yanking and choking a dog. Depending on the size of the dog, how hard the dog pulls, and how forcefully the person holding the leash yanks, choke collars can cause serious injuries, including Intervertebral disc protrusion, Partial or complete fore- or hind-limb paralysis from spinal cord injuries, and Damage to the vagus nerve, affecting the function of major organs, including the heart, lungs, liver, bladder, spleen, and kidneys.

  • Prong collars are a good way to cause Partial or complete fore- or hind-limb paralysis from spinal cord injuries!

  • is it okay if i use prong collars for rottweilers??..or i really have to use other methods to train my rotty?? answers please. i can't really decide.

  • was she just correcting her dog for no reason???

prong collars are ment to be snug and fit close to the ears, this person doesn't know what she's talking about

  • wow. where did she learn this? totally the wrong way to use a prong collar. what she is doing needs a choke chain.

  • ittl be a cold day in hell when my dog learns how to take a proper walk )=

  • Wrong. Completely Wrong. Don't listen, better videos out there on how to use a prong collar.

  • its not good to start training a dog at nine months

  • Wow. Completely wrong placement of the collar. Good job 'Expert' Village..

  • For being a totallly untrained puppy, it sure knows how to stand still and is super submissive, how would you go about using the prong collar, with a dog that pulls like a freight train.

  • @dogman75 When I adopted my dog he pulled like mad with no prior leash training. I used prong in the past with my moms shepherds. I put the prong on him and when he pulls ahead you turn around and with a qui

  • @Geckoforhire quick wrist snap, turn your dog to go the opposite direction. After a few steps tell your dog how good he is and continue the way you were originally going. That is how I was trained to do it, and that is what has been working for me. It will take a few times, but your dog will eventually get it.

  • Don't listen to this woman. Expert Village sucks. Prong Collars are to be fitted very high on the neck, behind the ears. She clearly doesn't know what she's doing.

  • in the hands of a skilled tainer a prong collar never needs to be used. Find another trainer if they suggest this to you for your dog. Woman you are a hack.

  • Please ignore this video and search leerburg. Thank you.

  • a good dog trainers and owners don't use prong collars.

  • this girl has not got a clue what she is on about. i train my belgium malinois with a prong collor an i dont do it like that. u want to no how to do it propperly go on the leerburg website. this girl justs wants to see how many hits she can get on youtube.

  • This is not a good method . you should take lessons from the Leerburg web site

  • hello, im Hunter

    Milf Hunter

  • She's fuckin stupider than a hay rake

  • I though the prong collar should be be high up on the neck & behind the ears?

  • @AmberFaithChloe

Exactly what I've always been told.

  • I think expertvillage is missing it's idiot...

  • The collar should be snug, idiot. and wtf is a bink? poor dog doesn't even know what she wants, and you don't have to treat-train a prong-collar trained dog.

  • I have been teaching the usage of prong collars for 13 years and have never seen such a bastardazation of misuse as in this video. Please do let the dog exert dragging latent tension on this tool!.

RUN PEOPLE!! this person is a flake!

  • i agree. she has no idea what she's doing.

  • not fitted properly. When the correction was administered there was no reaction from the dog. When it is fit properly there WILL be a reaction from the dog.

  • It shouldn't really be that far away from behind the ears

    .

I just got my dog that collar and he is doing kinda good with it but that dog looks sad...no treats or anything? Hmmm.

  • no positive reinforcement at all before you correct with the prong? You've done NOTHING to build up a relationship first? No attemmpt to teach the dog what is wanted before punishing what isn't? I suppose it works after a fashion...but who WANTS to train their dog this way?? :-(((

  • Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Needs to be reasonably snug behind the ears.

  • This is so bad. This woman is not qualified.

The collar is not fitted properly and her technique is weak.

  • +1 .

  • Get off the internet idiot. Any flat collar can give you the same result.

  • What the fucks she on about, she said use it loose, it's meant to stay reasonably tight up behind the ears, hers is almost on his back, stupid fucking woman, don't listen to her instructions they're wrong.

  • lady you did not fit it porperly! take this video down! owners are going to watch this and damage their dogs!!! you don't know how to use this thing. take this video down lady

  • The prong collar is not properly fitted. The prong collar is supposed to be worn at the top of the neck just behind the ears. It should not slide down the neck.

  • finally!! youre the only one that knows how on this damn website. and theres no pain to the commenter below, do you see the retriever in pain? get off your soapbox.prongs arent for everydog but dont be so narrowminded.
