In this video, Bowie, so often the actor, speaks in three roles: 1) A man 2) the Devil, 3) and God. Saying much the same thing each time. Read as such, it becomes both a dialogue between them all, an hymn to Pantheism, and an invitation to join a collective or cosmic consciousness. Whether he's actually achieved it, or merely described it, or just played cut-and-paste with religion is anyone's guess. But its a theme running through all his work, from "the shadow man" thru Heathen. See me?
@bengalsmom It was pretty fantastic. Since you reminded me, David Bowie sang a duet of "Waterloo Sunset" with Ray Davies that night as well. Truly the best of times.

God even if I was half the talented musician as David Bowie I would be on an island somewhere right now rather than freezing my ass off.

Oh my, this song is amazing... My current favourite. Pure perfection, like Bowie himself. This almost makes me cry a bit, so touching...

I was fortunate enough to be in the audience at Carnegie Hall, where he premiered this song before the album release. Extraordinary.
