definitely the best to ever play the game at the RB position...Wish i couldve been alive to watch such a great talent, players like him are a rare find in todays NFL

With respect to Jim Brown, Eric Dickerson, and Walter Payton - Barry Sanders is the greatest running back ever. He had a short career and he was on a very bad team. Emmit Smith had Aikman and Michael Irvin. Barry Sanders had Scott Mitchell and Herman Moore -- that's not even fair one bit.
This is the greatest running back of all time. Too bad his fear of fame made him retire early, he had plenty of more record breaking seasons left in him. Either way.......much love to Barry.
That song in the background must be the faggots national anthem. Probably the gayest song ive ever heard. Almost ruined the whole video. Thank god for mute.
at 00:49 is that john Lynch lookin stupid? lmao hey does anyone know where i can see the video of Barry Sanders when he jukes Rod woodson so bad he tears his MCL? i cant find it anywhere
how is barry sanders scary, hell make you miss, but thats just embarrassing im talking about walter payton and jim brown running you over? barry sanders isnt really "scary".
@itsmybunny1 that would depend on ur position on the field. if your a corner coming up 2 make the tackle you literally had to stop break down and then try to tackle.
my favorite running back. i grew up watching him run. i had never seen before, nor have i seen again, anymore move and make people miss like he did. it's such a shame what the lions did to him in refusing to trade him. can you imagine the type of yards he would have racked up had he been on a decent team with decent blockers in front of him? man.
Now look at this guy and how great he was. Now imagine him on a team that actually had talent in their o line and other players to set up good lanes for him.
Lion had a good line when Barry was there. Lomas Brown, Kevin Glover, Utley, Hartings, Andolsek were all good. Moore, Perriman, and Morton were the best downfield blockers in the NFL.
adrian peterson,thurman thomas,oj simpson,steven jackson,marshawn lynch,maurice jones drew,marshall faulk,chris johnson,walter payton,emmit smith,
gale sayers,earl campbell,ray rice,franco harris,curtis martin,ladainian tomlinson,
matt forte and darren mcfadden are pretty good.maybe james starks, ryan grant and cedric benson.barry sanders is the best.god theres so many they make it
so easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Barry had played 2-3 more years he would've shattered Walter 's record. Which actually says something cuz Walter had a decent line and with Barry u might as well throw out 5th graders to block for him
@sk8adude13 dude walter didn't have a good line until he was in his 30s. He did it ALL by himself in his prime. It was run walter left, middle or right. no qb, no receivers, no offensive line, no defense. that's why the bears record sucked in walters early and mid career. Barry had a bad line his whole career to, but he did make them look worse with his dancing.
@conspicuousjim I have 2 disagree with u. As impossible as he was 2 tackle, Barry Sanders holds the all-time record for negative yards and u wanna say he had a line all those years? I will never take away from the Great Walter Payton bcuz he was my 1st ever fav footbal player, PERIOD! U may wanna rethink that whole "Barry had a line" thing. Also, Barry didn't have any real offensive til Brett Perriman, Johnny Morton and Herman Moore were there with him 2gether.
@MrBootyPervert "Barry had a bad line his whole career to, but he did make them look worse with his dancing."- me
there is absolutely nothing inaccurate about my statement. barry DID have a bad line, but he made them look worse than they were. IMO walter had a worse line than barry when he was in his 20's, but he made his lineman look better than they were by running the designed play.
@conspicuousjim Well, u can't run a play as it'e designed when the holes aren't there. Walter was more or a hard-nosed runner than Barry. Barry was the most illusive runner. Both had sucky blocking, but Barry had no choice but 2 improvise bcuz his line was almost always terrible @ blocking assignment> Notice the difference between Barry's college highlights and his Pro 1's. He didn't have 2 improvise as much bcuz he had holes as wide as the Grand Canyon.
Barry and Bo were always my two favorite players to watch. They could do just about anything. It's a shame Barry had to play on a sub par team his whole career.
Too bad this mans talent was waisted on such a suck-ass franchise. Detroit wasn't good in my dads lifetime, they won't be good in my life-time and they prolly won't be worth a shit in my sons lifetime. Thats the reason Barry "The Great" Sanders retired early cause they wouldn't give him anyone to help him. Cough, Cough, CLEVELAND CAVS... Cough, Cough.
@beau22man22boyette7 false. The Lions are on the rise right now. They will be atleast .500 next season and substantially better the season after. They're showing great improvements all over the place and as long as Stafford stays healthy, they have a shot to win every game they play. No matter the opponent.
yo people do urself a favor n look up BARRY SANDER ROD WOODSON he juked the guy so bad he blew his nee out ROD WOODSON missed the entire season(about 11 games or more)
iam a huge cowboy fan. .and love mr 22 but i gotta tip my hat to mr sanders he had no fuckn oline.. his foot work the best . .to bad he playd for the lions . .
No arguement about it, Barry Sanders is by far the most dominant player to play the game. Adrian Peterson and him run just a like. Best attitudes in the game also. A.P isnt quite the player sanders was though, hopefully he will be in the future though.
emmitt was a product of a dominant offensive line. not to take away from what he did but put him behind the lions line and see if he still would reach those stats
true he is the best of all time but he did lead the league as most yards lost but he is so boss that he would gain it back like nothing dude is a freaking machine
As an Eagles fan i can honestly say Barry Sanders is probably the best i will ever witness. Emmit was nothing to this guy, Emmit just played for a stacked team.
i want feet like that... that double coverage spin juke was amazing... never seen anything like it... BARRY i know you old man... but come back to detroit... we need you... we've sucked since you left
That is a ridiculous comment. It may be hard for you to believe, but the Lions were (for the most part) decent when they had Barry throughout the 1990's. in '91, they came within a game of the Superbowl (albeit in that game they were destroyed by Washington). Barry enjoyed his time in Detroit very much and is proud to be a Lion, so shove it up your ass buddy.
i am looking for the unbelievable run he had against the Bears where he dodged the entire defense twice! Hands down, no comparison, the greatest running back to ever play the game. His low center of gravity, power, speed, vision, and swiveling hips are unmatched in any running back I have ever seen at any level. Truly a tragedy he played with the lions and retired so young.
#2 RB of all-time. Sorry but Jim Brown was better. Emmitt Smith maybe Top 5, that's being generous. He had a great O line, a Hall of Fame QB and WR. Imagine if Sanders played for a decent team.
I saw great RBs play, like Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, and Terrell Davis...........except for TD (if he had remained healthy perhaps), no one even comes close yo to Barry Sanders, no fuckin' way......not even Jim Brown...nobody...BARRY IS THE BEST RB OF ALL-TIME, NO FUCKIN' DOUBT...
@101philosopha101 dude, what are you talking about. walter was the best all around back ever. he could do everything, block, pass, run, catch, run over you, around you, and by you. Give me the heart of walter payton, there's never been a greater heart.
@conspicuousjim but Payton had a great defense, great O-line......Barry had NOTHING...think about that...he played for the Lions for god sake....no O-line, no QB, no defense, NOTHING.......yet, he proved to be great and took them to the playoffs........this is why I say Barry is the best.........say all these RBs had the same team to play for, I am saying that Barry would have been the best of them all......and sure Payton had heart and all that, but Barry was the best...
@101philosopha101 your right about barry having a bad team. the three legendary backs are brown, payton and sanders. they are in a class of their own and you can make a good case for the either of them being the greatest. IMO it's payton though. Also, payton didn't have a very good team until 1985.
@thereaper7745 it's not all about records. walter had something that barry never had and that was heart. He willed his team to victory many times. Also, he was not a blocking or goal line liability. why are you calling me out when I was saying good things about barry?
the only reason barry didnt make it to the super bowl was a bad offence of line

Everyone in the Lions organizations should be arrested. It was a crime for not letting Barry go to another team.

@asdfedc

@lopidous1 could u send me that video against the Bears? id like to see that haha

lol in 10 years he did so much haha, had he stay and played another 5 years his number would be the all time leader in all rushing categories period.

#2 RB of all-time. Sorry but Jim Brown was better. Emmitt Smith maybe Top 5, that's being generous. He had a great O line, a Hall of Fame QB and WR. Imagine if Sanders played for a decent team.
ZergofImportance 1 year ago
I saw great RBs play, like Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, and Terrell Davis...........except for TD (if he had remained healthy perhaps), no one even comes close yo to Barry Sanders, no fuckin' way......not even Jim Brown...nobody...BARRY IS THE BEST RB OF ALL-TIME, NO FUCKIN' DOUBT...

@101philosopha101 dude, what are you talking about. walter was the best all around back ever. he could do everything, block, pass, run, catch, run over you, around you, and by you. Give me the heart of walter payton, there's never been a greater heart.
conspicuousjim 1 year ago
@conspicuousjim but Payton had a great defense, great O-line......Barry had NOTHING...think about that...he played for the Lions for god sake....no O-line, no QB, no defense, NOTHING.......yet, he proved to be great and took them to the playoffs........this is why I say Barry is the best.........say all these RBs had the same team to play for, I am saying that Barry would have been the best of them all......and sure Payton had heart and all that, but Barry was the best...
101philosopha101 1 year ago
@101philosopha101 your right about barry having a bad team. the three legendary backs are brown, payton and sanders. they are in a class of their own and you can make a good case for the either of them being the greatest. IMO it's payton though. Also, payton didn't have a very good team until 1985.
conspicuousjim 1 year ago
@conspicuousjim screw u barry sanders could of easily broke the record but he retired cause he didnt love the sport anymore
thereaper7745 1 year ago
@thereaper7745 it's not all about records. walter had something that barry never had and that was heart. He willed his team to victory many times. Also, he was not a blocking or goal line liability. why are you calling me out when I was saying good things about barry?
