Nylund was the first person to really try and explore the Halo universe, and The Fall of Reach is where bungie got a lot of their material for the later games. @Razorsharp445 In regards to that statement the ending of Reach where the pillar of autumn leaves reach, is actually false, UNSC Ships can not be built on planets because they lack the power to break extreme low orbits. The books clearly state that. Also Pillar of Autumn returns to Reach during the last phases of the assault to drop 30 Spartan II down to secure the power stations for the MAC Cannons. Also Spartan II are far superior and were better trained that Spartan III.

The Autumn was already in space when the attack happened and Key made the decision to deploy the Spartan II to the surface to assist in the evacuations and hold strategic power stations for the orbital MAC Cannons. He never landed on Reach to drop them off they had 2 pelicans and had to do a dangerous orbital insertions similar to ODST but with out the Drop pods.

the noble team are part of the Spartan-III program this means their armour and weapons had no chance of malfunction and had armour abilities, and this program's mission's were in large groups and still had 60%-100% casualties, Master Chief was a Spartan-II he had a 50% chance of armour malfunction, sudden death from chemical overdose and other issues and didn't have jetpacks or armour lock or anything. He is still alive. Also, Master Chief can dual wield snipers. I rest my case.
