This song always puts a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. It's the most beautiful version of this song. My dad died when I was 17, just 3 days before Christmas and to this day (it's been 11 years now) I can't hear this song without shedding a tear. It tugs at so many heart strings, and really makes you take in the joy of Christmas.

Since I was a kid my parents got us kids hooked on Manheim Steamroller. I remember we would play the "Christmas" manheim album over and over again as we drove from NC to KY to see my grandparents. <3 To this day Manheim music IS part of Christmas traditions!

@psychodelicide My son joined his high school choir, they were putting on a Christmas program at school and he came home so excited (he loves music). He made us all lay on the floor, he turned off all the lights, made us close our eyes and listen to this song. It was an experience I'll never forget....Every time we hear it, we smile...and it was the longer version of this song (MS Christmas CD) which is even more beautiful if you can believe it.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the everyday, amidst the brutalities and ugliness of this world, this song reminds me of the simplicity of the Christ's birth and the simplicity of His love...and that is what this season is truly about. After reading all your comments I believe this song does touch the hearts of many people around the globe.

It still reminds me of the years stationed in Arizona. Our little kids loved the beautiful decorated house in the neighborhood and although thousands of miles away from grandparents, family and friends the song tied us together in the spirit of Christmas. Back in home Germany this song still holds a special place in our hearts.

One time as a young man stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War, we lost 5 air crews to hostile file. I did not have to fly that night, but heard a similar version of this song along with Round yo-urn Virgin and to this day, that moment in history brings tears to my eyes.

"Silent Night" was my least favorite Christmas Carol for some unknown reason. Silent Night was one my Mother's favorite carols. One night, I was sitting with my dog when I heard this version. I felt like my mother was speaking to me. Ten years later, it reminds me of two of my favorite loved ones that have passed... my two best friends... my Mom and my dog.

my heart aches for you too my friend. two sons is doubly devastating and the burdin a parent feels losing a child is the heaviest on earth especially on special days like birthdays, holidays ect. im struggl;ing to find some small measure of peace but i believe that our children and children everywhere who have passed on are in a safe beautiful place of peace now. its the separation from them which is so terribly painful to deal with i know. bless you too as you struggle for peace.

I lost my mother and found her dead 2 weeks before Christmas when I was 10 yrs old many years ago... It's hard. I still couldn't imagine losing a child though. My heart is with you...

My town has one of these. Crooks Christmas (SD)if your interested. They had this song their first year (2006) but not the second nor this year. Sad, it was the best song they had in my opinion.
