Huey & Frank were the original Williams Brothers. Frank joined Willie Banks as a guitarist for the Violinaires when Banks became their lead singer. Frank followed Banks to the Jackson Southernaires and they recorded 'Too Late.' Leonard, Melvin and Doug kept the William Brothers going. Leonard now has his own label too. Leonard's son LaMorris is very successful on the Southern Soul circuit.
i like the williams brothers i was working at a hotel were they married someone on my job. i am waiting on a marriage please pray for me. i live in orlando fl.
@walker5366; No Lee Williams's not any kin to Doug or Melvin Williams at all, he just have the same last name but they aren't. He's a very good/close friend of them @ he was raise up in Mississippi just like they was. Yours truley Danette50
Who is the fifth person featured in the earlier photos? I know Henry Green, and Melvin, Doug, and Leonard Williams, but don't know the 5th man. Also, does anyone know why Leonard left the group? Plse help.
The fifth person was Maurice Surrell... Who is known for being apert of the Jackson Southernaires. I believed he played drums for Willaims Bros. back in the early days...
Yeah... the other guy is Maurice Surrell. He was a great drummer and song lead with Doug on a song called "Sunday". He went on to play and sing for the Jackson Southernaires but his best work was the Brothers.
Not really, but he assisted, and started the Miss. Mass Choir and Blackberry Records. Henry Green is still a member, but they never mentioned him on this video.
I dont know how many of you remember that in between the williams brothers and the Jackson southernaires,Maurice had a brief stint with Willie Banks and the messengers.

Lee is not related to the Williams Brothers. They are from two separate areas of the state.
