I bought all Be Bop Deluxe albums back then, but never saw them live. I would still pay a fortune today to see Bill live, with or without BBD (we remember Charles Tumahai). Bill still has the voice, the guitar play, and the talent. Amazing !
I remember when I was a kid, Be Bop was coming to Göteborg, I wake up 2 days before and I was fu***** sick, I have got pneumonia... As a huge fan and I was 16 years old and this was first and the last time BBD was in Sweden :(
If im honest, I lost touch with Bills music after "quit dreaming" ive followed his blog and saw him on the lost satelites tour in 2004..i thought his new approach wasnt really what i expected after Be Bop and Red Noise,im an old boring fart as he quite rightly stated about us fans who couldnt change with him. I follow him on his diary entries(or entry !!) but this track has re awoke the desire for his music,he 's still got it...its an awesome track..im on the search,,superb upload...
Never mind Clapton, Knopfler or the myriad of other high profile guitarists this country has produced, Bill Nelson is the man. I was there on the night. Genius
Clapton, Knopfler, etc. are very good, but they are not 1/2 as BILL is.
One of the truly best guitarrists/composers EVER, but people still think than Lennon or Harrison are the best, world is crazy/stupid/ignorant, that´s why.
I remember the first time I saw him play this live at one of the earlier Nelsonica conventions and it blew me away. This is even better. Has an album ever ended with such a stunning song as The October Man on the "Love That Whirls"? Awesome
the DVD that this is from is excellent and well worth the bargain price on Amazon. Bill is always so critical of his live performances and often states he how he dislikes covering his old stuff. But these songs are classics and live in the hearts and minds of his loyal followers today. Bill is so cool live or on record. One of the most underrated and talented guitarists and writers Britain has.
Its a shame but Bill always has a negative comment on his own performances,
A friend and i went to the 30th anniversary in Sheffield which he also was not happy with, but you know what it was fantastic he's to hard on himself, a fantastic artist both BeBop days and now, must get to see him again.
Such a shame that Bill himself found this experience disappointing (see his website). Totally cramped stage, v hot and a big shame. Love his music tho'.
Why oh why is there no DVD of BeBop Deluxe on the market with restored video material ? Was the "Live in the Air Age"-Live-Album filmed ? Oh Bill, how great...
After all these years I've finally been able to buy a dvd/video of Bill Nelson, ie, this "Legends" dvd. Would love to have some Be-Bop, Red Noise or early solo material on video. There must be some footage somewhere of the brilliant 2004 30th anniversary tour. I can't recomend enough, the cd I bought on that tour, "Satellite Songs" released for that tour. A rare album nowdays of Bill singing on most tracks.
I am sure there is filmed documentation from many of Bills gigs including Be bop Deluxe. I think Bill has mentioned this before... I even think he has some film but he is reluctant to let it out. I guess he thinks it's not relevant to his work today?
New Nelsonica this year? Saturday the 29th September, we hope ;-)

God, do I love Bill. He is in the world of McLaughlin and Zappa or even
Buzz Osborne in that he just got better with age. His music and musical sensibilities
allowed for this to happen. He's really one of the most respected guitarists ever.

A true genius. I remember the thrill of hearing this when it first came out on vinyl (gasp!). Talented, fearless, quirky....always transcendent.

I was listening to the Love That Whirls CD this morning and wondering if Bill would ever play this again - fantastic!
No e-bow though, can't have everything I suppose!
