I have two Jacks, one a farm bred pure, and the other a cross with a Schnauzer. They are extremely tough dogs, and the former mentioned pup is an absolute confident alpha, with nerves of steel, and VERY intelligent. I've seen her run the entire dog park without any need to bully the other dogs. My uncle had a few JRTs on his farm, and one day his male brought back a raccoon that it had killed, which was twice its own size! Btw, my Jack is sitting at the keyboard as I type, lol, she says Wasup.

Nothing better than huntin with with my Jack. We use them for possum and clearing barns and structures here in Florida. Nothing is faster, more economical or safer than using a well trained JR

They're protected in England but by no means rare. Big hoo ha at the minute 'cos the government want to have a cull to try andcut down TB infection in Cattle.

Don't see an answer to chanctonbury63 so I'll have a stab at it. Badgers eat the eggs of ground nesting birds and chicks, they're of the Weasel, Stoat Mink family, Mustoids. In addition in the UK they carry the TB Bacillus and transmit it to cattle. They are protected vermin here.

Isn't that really risky for the dog? Badgers are bigger, and pretty mean, and in its hole the dogs doesn't have much room to avoid bites.

i wish we had badgers in my part of the united states. i have patterdale terriers and we hunt groundhogs with them. this fall we are going to a place that has badgers do you think a patterdale would work? mine are pretty hard dogs

Yes patterdale will work.. only problem is that if you dog is very brutal it will get damage .. Use one dog at a time .. i hope all go well ..

@mazimus100 I'm not a hunter and I do the same with my old .22 riffle and my jack, it's usually groundhogs but I had to kill a couple of badgers too. It's called pest control where I live and if it can give you good conscience tell yourself that people who are paid to catch those alive spend fuel and material to get them(which is worse for nature) while I only need 2 or 3 bullets and I leave the corpses to scavengers.

Looks like a suppressed .22 LR Autoloader. Professional exterminators use them for noise abatement around stock and poultry so as not to cause them any undue distress, although a barking dog kind of defeats the purpose.

tuo koira on kuuden vanha ja uskon että 5vuotta sillä vielä petoja jahdataan .. kuvakulma hämää ammunta tilanteessa vaimennin on kiinni kyllä lähempänä mäyrää kuin koiraa ja koira on hännästä kiinni toisessa kädessäni laukaus nro 2 tullessa.. Kevään lumilta -09 tuolta koiralta 35 pienpetoa ja nyt syksyllä lisää ja vielä hengissä ;)
