great idea w/ the wine! but i must say, what you just put on your face is not quite a finished gel product yet...you also wasted a lot of carbomer right there. You only need about 0.25 to 2% of carbomer which makes a runny pre-gel solution but when you neutralize it by adding a tiny dash of baking soda, it reacts to form a very thick and clear gel (quite amusing to see actually). snowdrift has instructions on how to prepare the pre-gel and neutralize it with an alkaline...hope that helps
Great recipes. Subscribing. Been checking out DIY suppliers for makeup and skincare. It's sick. The big companies take about $2 - $4 of a pretty standard base mixture and add maybe $6 - $8(most of the time max) of a few other ingredients and charge about $40 and up. It's highway robbery considering that the best levels of the active ingredients seem to max out at 3% - 5% and that huge list at the top of the label's the cheap base mixture.
Google "Snowdrift Farms" and you can buy carbomer from them.
Lotion-wise, it depends on your skin type. If it is acne-prone and very oily, choose something that is oil-free and light-textured. If your skin is very dry, select some cream for use. If your skin is very sensitive, then try and seek a lotion that is specifically designed for use on such a skin type.
Be creative. If you feel like using flour or oatmeal instead of carbomer, do feel free to use it. The aim of the channel is to impart knowledge so that you will become knowledgeable about what ingredients to use and why and that you can independently and confidently know what YOU want for your OWN skin. It seems that you are getting there very fast. Vincent
