  • Priceless

  • FYI, just recently in a interview with Huel Perkins (lead anchor at Detroit's Fox News Affiliate), Bill Bonds was asked does he think Detroit is coming back, and he said no.

He also continued on saying that no one wants to live in a city that's 85% black.

  • This city would be better if ran by White people instead of THEM!

  • @gopconservative78 racist

  • @Nintendo3dsblog white people are much more civilized than THEM

  • @gopconservative78 which ones?? the baby killers, the pedophiles, the meth addicts & heroin junkies, the wife beaters, the wife killers, the corporate embezzlement thieves, the bank robbers, the homeless beggars, the undercover functional drug abusers, the racist cowards & hate filled fear mongers that have effectively destroyed what this country couldve really been about,& on &on, i mean to say, which white people are you claiming to be so civilized??? Get off of TV and take a look around You

  • @gopconservative78 youre so stupid

  • Ron Burgendy LoL!!!

  • hahahaha there's my Dad with Bill Bonds at 1:11!!!!

  • Detroit sucks ass

  • I love the bits with Bill Bonds and Coleman Young fighting over the Coney Dogs! Classic, thank you!

  • Growing up, I had to stay over my grandmother's after school before my mother got off work, and she only watched Action News in the evening. I grew up with Bill Bonds and WXYZ (though nowadays I prefer Fox 2 WJBK)

  • they say the same thing about New Jersey.

  • In ALL of television news, even at the network level, Bonds is 100-percent right on (past the 1:50 mark)

If reporters (network AND affiliate) lose touch with people, they miss some of the best news in town (and across America).

  • @JD7812 I think it was ch7 GM Jeanne Findlater (fin-ladder). Now who are the tiger's players?

  • Who is that woman holding the little kid? She looks very familiar.

  • Awesome. Anywhere I go in the world, I tell them I'm from Detroit. Not the far west suburbs.

  • stand up and tell them your froooooooooooooooooooom Detroit!!!

  • my apartment building, trolley plaza, appears at about 1:30 :)

  • Bill Bonds still in the area, Bill loves Detroit and Detroit Loves Bill. Anybody talking sh*t about Detroit blaming the locals can eat a sack of squirrel nutz. The auto industry was the heart of Detroit. People buying foreign cars because they thought it was cool, fad, trendy,or whatever stabbed the heart. Now the countries we beat down the the last war is now bigger than U.S. economically. I don't know where you may live but if the biggest business in your town went away then WTF you gonna do

  • @JEDI7ACEN tell em about it,

  • Detroit=America's Baghdad

  • @gopconservative78

    More like America's Doncaster

  • catchy jingle

  • Thank you Money Changers for destroying the American standard of living & gutting her historical industries like those founded in Detroit.

  • Thanks

  • You really can't appreciate this unless you have lived here. Bill Bonds is 80 years old now.We were a hell of a town before it was sold off to China for a buck 2 85: Bill Murray was a Bill Bonds character. To Plopsmom, 5 million people in this area are not gone!

  • He seems like a Bill Murray character.

  • You obviously haven't owned an American car in a looooong time, they are very reliable nowdays.

  • @455Transam

But they look crappy! There's something I just love about American cars from the 70s and 80s.

  • nice propoganda. pretend to really care but just do absouletly nothing to the effect. if he really wanted to cover a good story why doesn't he investigate the tri lateral commision or the foriegn relations commision which purposefully raped detroit for profit?

  • Your screename tell us your part of the Party that espouses everything American Patriotism, and you hope that two foreign car companies from a country that fought AGAINST us in the War do better? What a hypocrite! You probably shop at Walmart, but don't like China.

  • Well if you knew anything, you would know the Big 3 make excellent cars, but keep drinking the kool aid that is "American cars suck". Your still a hypocrite, if you really loved this country you would buy American and not send your money overseas to communists and the Japanese.

  • In these times of of economic setbacks we need to show the WORLD that we can rebuild. We in the D had the perfect showcase with the NCAA playoffs and I am proud that everyone had banded together to prove that the D is GREAT!!! We all earned the right to"STAND UP & TELL'EM YOUR'E FROM DEEETROIT!!!" Thanks to MSU for making us proud! Conyers & Reeves need to get on the bus, these 2 d-bags really haven't got a clue as to what's happening in the D! DETROIT STILL ROCKS!!!!!

  • "the world is Detroit, Detroit's the world"... I'm so tired of hearing how Bill Bonds drinks... he's a Detroit LEGEND...

  • @nwilczyn kinda hard not to talk about that when every time you see see this asshole he is drunk every other time.

  • It was a shock seeing bill bonds with coleman young bill bonds challenged coleman young to come to the lindell ac(bar) n fight him. What a couple of characters if anyone can get the closed circuit tv interview where mayor young (while in hawaii)greets the reporters aloha muthafuckas that would make me laugh so hard i`d piss my pants

  • Growing up in Detroit, Bill Bonds and the rest of the Channel 7 team made news interesting to watch.

  • @kgoundan Bill's commentaries were also spot on; kind of like Keith Olbermann's today! I miss those years, growing up in and around Detroit. It use to be a glorious city with a lot to offer. It now seems like a bombed out third world nation. Very sad.

  • Wow thank you for posting this. This is truly classic Detroit. I have to admit I'm a little mistty watching this. I relocated seven years now but am a proud Detroiter. This makes me so homesick all I need now is a Vernors, a coney Dog from American Coney Island and Belle Isle.

  • this Jus made miss when i was Little in detroit

  • as someone who still lives in Detroit... uh... you wouldn't want to see Belle Isle now... it's horrible.... I love my city, but Belle Isle is a disaster...

  • @nwilczyn youre lying

  • I remember the shock when people first saw Bill Bonds in these spots sitting down at the diner table with the late then-mayor Coleman Young (they had a famous feud going). Here's another Channel 7 commercial that should've been included: "Bonds, Kelly, Ackerman, Turner - Now THAT'S a Team."

  • I've been living in the University Distict of Detroit since 1971. Won't leave. Detroit gets a very bad rap and I realize the latest "happenings"in the news don't help. The problem is the media keeps regurgitating bad stuff and not reporting this good things and good people in Detroit. There has NEVER been a movie made in Indian Village, University District or Palmer Woods, only some burned out area of the city which probably hasn't been populated in 50 years.

  • @venusmasontheus these jerks will turn off the camera in the safer cleaner nicer neighborhoods then get excited and turn on the camera the moment they find the blighted ones. its a cultural hack job with several implications that are obvious.

  • I clearly remember when this was playing on Channel 7.

Miss Bill Bonds.I knew his daughter. How unthinkable her tragedy was.

The Action News team was where its at at our house. Robbie Timmons, Diana Lewis, Jerry Hodak.

Remember : KELLY & COMPANY & COUnT SCARRY?

Left Michigan in 2002 due to new jobs elsewhere.

    We desperately miss Detroit/Metro.

  • what tradgey are u talking about. i'm not trying to be smart. I'm curious of what happened.

  • Haven't been back in 30 years, but I still proudly tell people "I'm a Detroiter" ~ And won't buy a car that isn't from the Motor City.

  • Your car from the "Motor City" probably was not made in America.

  • I bet you though it was 99% designed and engineered there, and the people who help launched the vehicle wherever it was built came from there.

  • @redravensounds that's because your a union thug! Detroit makes crap, never buy a POS American car

  • @gopconservative78 clearly it you that are the POS.

  • @DONNIMETROPOLIS313 well then go into Niggeroit........

  • @redravensounds that's because your an idiot...I left Detroit 15 years ago and NEVER will return and I buy RELIABLE Japanese cars

  • Stand up and texted them you're from Detroit! This was a great ad campaign.

  • I was on Dead Tour in the 90's and when ever I told some one I was from Detroit they would always back up a few feet! And im a little white girl!

  • Detroit does get a bad wrap, I recently drove to texas, I stopper for gas in a town called dolittle missouri, and I was wearing all black and a black detroit tigers hat backwards, people locked their car doors, and damn near ran for coverm the clerk saw my ID and said you don't look like a gangster, I was outdone!!!!

  • LOL! i'm gonna try that. (yes i am from detroit)

  • I know that Detroit gets a bad wrap. but i can say that growing up in unversity distrcit by 7 mile road back than was a real special place to live. wonderful friendly neighbors and houses and a time that was special even though Detroit itself was a mess. also channel 7 at that time was so colorful and interisiting to watch. the news people now-a-days just do not have the charisma that bill bonds had. seems they are just reading from a monitor and lack ther own ideas or opinions.

  • Hey, Muirland, well said, I agree with you. Hey, I knew many people who lived on Muirland near the University district. Very nice area and nice people. Once about ten years ago there was a poll of the ten most welcoming towns in the US. Detroit made the list and was the only big city to do so!

  • I remember the Conant/Outer Drive area in the late 60's-early 70's we could leave the door unlocked and windows open at night with no problem. The corner stores sold fresh donuts and all kinds of lunchmeat sliced to order. Most were run by Polish people. The Catholic schools/church were jam packed.

  • Tell'em you're from Detroit if you wanna intimidate them. They'll assume you're packing heat.

  • yup

  • cool...doesn't bill do gardner white commercials now?

  • I haven't seen one lately. They were hilarious when they were on. Bill was doing some Airplane type shtick on them, like Peter Graves or Lloyd Bridges.

  • He still does 'em on the radio, but after all his alcohol problems, he hasn't been on-camera much lately. Sonny Eliot still does a lot of radio, too.

  • disney esque pablum

  • or not.

  • DETROIT!!! is the shit

  • nos-f*cking-talgia.

  • could someone please track down the new version of Stand Up And Tell 'Em Youre From Detroit

  • There's one from the mid-80's that's really the best. With the news team in gospel choir robes I think.

  • I think it's "Stand Up and Text-Message 'Em You're from Detroit" :)

  • He AND Diana Lewis played themselves (news reporters) in Escape from the Planet of the Apes...DETROIT in the house!!!!

  • Diana Lewis also played herself in Rocky.

  • I miss Bill Bonds.

  • I've been looking for this commercial for a very long time. Thank you so much for posting it up!

  • I think there's a newer version of "Stand Up and Tell 'em You're From Detroit" that I wish I could find.

  • there is! do you have it?

  • No. Wish I did. Also I liked a the one that had the song "let's stand together one community, I'll stand up for you and you for me...

  • Bill Bonds is a legend.

  • I actually watched the local news at 5 on channel 7 because of Bill Bonds... when i was 9!
