@TheElijahKings Depends on the class - there is a lot less special ability stuff than WoW. This guy has a horrible attack roll (hit rating from WoW). Ranger special attacks are mostly for bow. I had 3 70's on WoW during BC, and got to 77 in Wrath. There are a lot of things I like about this game more than WoW - but - it's not near as vast. More group work than WoW though. This player still needs to learn the mechanics. The changes for Cata are what drove me from WoW. No HR sucks.
@TheElijahKings If you have seen different videos of DDO you will find out that: Ranger and melee classes are almost Hack n slash+ some activateable abilities... Casters have many and many abilities which costs mana..
I don't know I'm used to D&D from table top and other games that emulated the table top like neverwinter nights.. this seems too much hack and slash only for my taste.

Pros- Awesome real-time combat system, totally cool community, beautiful graphics and effects, fun quests that require puzzle solving not just explosions and cleaving, awesome monsters from old school DnD, interesting and sometimes funny items, FREE!!!, very nice maintainence.
Need improvement- The world is divided into areas rather than open world map which feels restricted. Small level cap. Needs more pvp options and an evil campaign :D

@shortjokerz I can't clearly remember, because i am playing no longer, but i guess it is caused by: High resolution of my screen or there is option in settings somewhere
I played this for a little while, but the one major thing that killed it for me was the lack of mana regen, once you use it thats it unless you got potions. If your a caster class your kinda screwed in this game lol.
@aussj4link get this if ur a fighter without a cleric or pos ur screwed and a cleric can give mana back to ppl so u woyldnt run out of mana and u get as much of those as turn undeads my lvl 4 has 11 turn undeads so 11 dv's so its basically if u dont have a cleric or pots ur screwed arent i right?
@xJinko a cleric doesnt use pots to give dv and 11 dvs at lvl 4 would give back any lvl 4s mana fully and u are not intaking the rest shrines also if u are a tank in irestone inlet on elite with 2 casters 1 cleric and 1 monk then u will see how the fighter also has a disadvantage and get hurts a lot even if they are a tank the enemy casters have to be killed off which sucks the mana out of ur casters what if we just sent in 2 dps they wouldnt get as hurt like my ranger he saved the tank a lot
Yeah somehow this game is free to play but another game called Asheron's Call that Turbine runs is still 13$ and it's an extremely low population game from '99.
This game's very smooth in comparison to WoW imo. I've given that game up a few months ago, and I'm thinking about getting this game once I get my graduation gift! Quite stoked, to say the least.
@Urruko264 well its quite good a game but it is only for limited players (meaning a 10-years old cant play it). I like dnd and pnp games in general and it seemed a nice game to play when i was not able to join my friends to play pnp so i started this cause i ve got sick of wow after all the changes that blizzard made that made wow a piece of cake and it seems pretty cool.
Every 5 ranks you lvl your class , max of 20 lvls. every rank you can spend action points on enhancements.
when you see 10 d2 +6 for example , its a 10 sided die rolled twice +6 for a total of whatever. Every class is different and it helps to read a guide , when you make your character think of a knife blade you want it short and sharp , if you focus on to much your blade is dull but long <- metaphor. jack of all trades master of none so to speak.
i think i might try otu this game. it looks so.... oldschool in two ways. it realy feels like D&D and also it feels like those fun hack n slash games.
@KipNuggetGamer I quit playing mmorpgs cuz i had other things to do. but yea i subscribed to EVE online, WoW, Dark Age of Camelot, EQ2, Anarchy Online, Star wars galaxies... and of course DDO. One of the reasons I stopped is because it was taking too much time away and I had college, so yea, if i had lots of free time i'd definitely go back to subscribe to DDO.
If you don't play this game anymore, then keep your mouth shut and don't watch DDO videos. Go and watch WOW videos instead. Nice job by the way on the video, 5/5.
@GizarD1 Actually, its the other way around. 10d2 means you got 10 dice with 2 sides. Meaning the damage would be between 10 and 20. 1d4 means you throw 1 4 sided dice.

I' ve never played D 'n' D board game.... anyway it's not so hard to understand everything in game. Your character is meant to be customized- you can have thousands of skill and class combinations... If you' re looking for game with small number of posibilities go and play WoW.

@cirion66 i agree that dnd is ment to be in depth but if u never played the table top u dont know what u missed lol, and btw...it just that, a table top...not a board game, the board game named after dnd was an insult to gamers everywere.
When you fill a exp bar you rank up , when you fill it 5 times you lvl up , when you lvl up you choose feats , when you rank up you can buy enhancements.
When you press c you can see total of a skill , for example lockpicking.
@clickboomxxx i do believe that just means the game is rolling 2 6 sided dice to determine the outcome, so for a weapon you have a change to hit 2-12(like rolling 2 1's or 2 6's or any where between)

@clickboomxxx try playing a dice game. There are a lot of pre-made games out there that are based on this game, or rather the other way around. This game is loosely based on them. Shouldn't be no more then a few month's of WOW; and you get a lot more out of it.
In this game, you have to calculate to the end game. Skills, Feats, Enhancements, everything plays in.

DDO is a great game if you are willing to pay a monthly fee.
If you decide to play it to the end without paying a dime be ready for major frustration / boredom and feeling gimbed. When you finally crack and buy something worth 15 dollars (Imagine if WoW was free but you had to buy mounts for 20 dollars real life) just to notice that a month later you'll have to buy something again so you either go monthly or quit.

As well as cararcter slots and a lot of other things, i dont really know what you have to repay every month..
I didn't mean you need to rebuy whatever you bought, those stay yes but a month later you will have feel the need to something new to either: keep things fresh or to level & gear up. If you don't you will be left behind by those who do and there is a huge, almost elitistic, group of players who only play the P2P content, because there's so much of it they don't ever have to even bother with the free ones, and they wont because they are harder usually, longer and yield sometimes lesser rewards.
The scene is something like this: VIPs (all dungeons accessable) do the purchaceable dungeons to gear up drasticly and level up faster. Once those are done they move to the next P2P dungeon and go on till they reach a desireable level. After the "easy road" to riches and gear they will then turn to the F2P dungeons and run them only once/twice for favor and usually only w/ other VIPs 'cos they know how much "better" of players they are.
It's not the developers fault though, but it's what it is.
F2P players who do every free dungeon on elite to gain favor so they can purchase an adventure pack will notice this early on and realize that the next adventure pack he gets will take him months to farm or it might even be out of his reach - so any reasonable human being will assess that it's a huge waste of time, unless you're of course unemployed and have loads of time, or only play casually for a few hours a day & don't care, you will end up buying turbine points becoming a VIP or quitting.
I still dont get your point, your saying that Ddo doesnt worth paying 15$ a month to play it? after all you can freely try it, with decent content to play with.. I mean, if your pockets cant afford it, its not ddo's fault seriously. No offence.
Your obviously not getting it, either stop playing it if you cant afford it, or accept the fact that its still a paying game that you can play freely with some limitations. Dont diss the game because its not like YOU wanted it to be. Theres a lot of people out there that really likes what Ddo did to thier game. I know what the business model is for these free MMOs and why there's an item shop. I'm not complaining about there being one. I'm not particularly complaining about anything. I'm simply telling people the facts about how the game works out with the current Item Shop if you plan on simply not buying Turbine Points and want to play for free. Now GTFO.
I've noticed the community of the game is pretty cranky whenever you point out the flaws of the free to play model, especially this games. What most of the paying customers of this game don't realise is that if only VIPs played, there would be empty servers everywhere and you could probably squeeze all the servers into one and still had a small server.
So VIPs should take care about how much the players who play for free are enjoying the game, because without them you'll have a dead game.
Read everything I wrote or STFU, lol. Also 15$ for DDO is way too much since WoW is better and costs the same. Throwing money @ the game developers who made that game is a huge waste.

You can just buy few points- and you will be premium member without monthly fee- you will have better rights... anyway- new dungeons and adventures are pretty expensive i think... you dont have to be VIP= monthly fee- i am premium member
Its nothing like guild wars, you cant even jump in guildwars, and its the same combat system then every other games out there, DDo is very different for combats.. this video doesnt represent most of it.
Hey thanks for marking me one thumbs down btw the way, I'm aware you can't jump in GW but if you look at the graphics engines, icons, and fighting style... it's almost the same as GW. So is every MMO for that matter.
1st, DDo is DX10, you dont have that in GW, 2nd, its 4 years old, so the engin is a lot better, 3rd, its not based on any games out there. Ddo as a Unique combat system...Yeah, the interface may look like some other games, But your telling me that your with a 10mins video, you can tell its THE SAME? Seriously you need to play it, Fighting isnt the same at all really...I hate ppl that compares DDo to GW, because its nothing about guild wars anyway, and its not for under age players...btw
Well I'm not saying that it's like GW in gameplay (quests and monsters), I can't because I've never played it (though i'm highly interested in it) but you have to admit the interface style in THIS video is very similar to GW.
Well my interface is setted for me because i like it that way- You can fully move everything on screen and make new hotbars. Combat system is really awesome- In this game movement really affects combat
Fweega the game is pretty well populated you can find a group mostly and it's basically an awesome game! I play from time to time so can't be paying monthly for it as I have a job - but I'd really recommend this game. That's from someone that plays loads of pc games and has played WoW quite a bit too :D
Most of your skills are debuffs, knockdowns, stuns, taunts, that sort of thing. You combine these status attacks with your primary hack and slash combat. I'm going to be quite honest, at lower levels, it is quite boring, but once you get some levels under your belt, it's an amazingly addictive game. The combat is actually good, and the dungeons are amazingly immersive.
its an amazing game Highly Recommend it, There have been a lot of downloading problems but I encourage that if you encounter any problems do not give up on it.
DDO finally bringing games back how they are supposed to be.
There aren't skills but you can enhance items . Gameplay is like WoW but your movement actions radically influences your Consequences. If you won't try it- you won't know how DDO Gameplay is cool. (I stopped playing because i think Turbine is bunch of thieves (they didn't robb me but their prices are awful)

This game's very smooth in comparison to WoW imo. I've given that game up a few months ago, and I'm thinking about getting this game once I get my graduation gift! Quite stoked, to say the least.

@Urruko264 well its quite good a game but it is only for limited players (meaning a 10-years old cant play it). I like dnd and pnp games in general and it seemed a nice game to play when i was not able to join my friends to play pnp so i started this cause i ve got sick of wow after all the changes that blizzard made that made wow a piece of cake and it seems pretty cool.

Every 5 ranks you lvl your class , max of 20 lvls. every rank you can spend action points on enhancements.
when you see 10 d2 +6 for example , its a 10 sided die rolled twice +6 for a total of whatever. Every class is different and it helps to read a guide , when you make your character think of a knife blade you want it short and sharp , if you focus on to much your blade is dull but long <- metaphor. jack of all trades master of none so to speak.

@KipNuggetGamer I quit playing mmorpgs cuz i had other things to do. but yea i subscribed to EVE online, WoW, Dark Age of Camelot, EQ2, Anarchy Online, Star wars galaxies... and of course DDO. One of the reasons I stopped is because it was taking too much time away and I had college, so yea, if i had lots of free time i'd definitely go back to subscribe to DDO.

the hitroll dices go like this :
if u have weapon that has 10d2 damage it means it has 2 dices that have 10 sides.
that means you can hit 2 to 20
and if it has 10d2+3 you can hit
5 to 23

@GizarD1 Actually, its the other way around. 10d2 means you got 10 dice with 2 sides. Meaning the damage would be between 10 and 20. 1d4 means you throw 1 4 sided dice.

I' ve never played D 'n' D board game.... anyway it's not so hard to understand everything in game. Your character is meant to be customized- you can have thousands of skill and class combinations... If you' re looking for game with small number of posibilities go and play WoW.

When you fill a exp bar you rank up , when you fill it 5 times you lvl up , when you lvl up you choose feats , when you rank up you can buy enhancements.
When you press c you can see total of a skill , for example lockpicking.

@clickboomxxx i do believe that just means the game is rolling 2 6 sided dice to determine the outcome, so for a weapon you have a change to hit 2-12(like rolling 2 1's or 2 6's or any where between)

@clickboomxxx try playing a dice game. There are a lot of pre-made games out there that are based on this game, or rather the other way around. This game is loosely based on them. Shouldn't be no more then a few month's of WOW; and you get a lot more out of it.
In this game, you have to calculate to the end game. Skills, Feats, Enhancements, everything plays in.

DDO is a great game if you are willing to pay a monthly fee.
If you decide to play it to the end without paying a dime be ready for major frustration / boredom and feeling gimbed. When you finally crack and buy something worth 15 dollars (Imagine if WoW was free but you had to buy mounts for 20 dollars real life) just to notice that a month later you'll have to buy something again so you either go monthly or quit.
Great game to play now and then tho, without much care. One dungeon run > Logout

As well as cararcter slots and a lot of other things, i dont really know what you have to repay every month..

I didn't mean you need to rebuy whatever you bought, those stay yes but a month later you will have feel the need to something new to either: keep things fresh or to level & gear up. If you don't you will be left behind by those who do and there is a huge, almost elitistic, group of players who only play the P2P content, because there's so much of it they don't ever have to even bother with the free ones, and they wont because they are harder usually, longer and yield sometimes lesser rewards.

The scene is something like this: VIPs (all dungeons accessable) do the purchaceable dungeons to gear up drasticly and level up faster. Once those are done they move to the next P2P dungeon and go on till they reach a desireable level. After the "easy road" to riches and gear they will then turn to the F2P dungeons and run them only once/twice for favor and usually only w/ other VIPs 'cos they know how much "better" of players they are.
It's not the developers fault though, but it's what it is.

F2P players who do every free dungeon on elite to gain favor so they can purchase an adventure pack will notice this early on and realize that the next adventure pack he gets will take him months to farm or it might even be out of his reach - so any reasonable human being will assess that it's a huge waste of time, unless you're of course unemployed and have loads of time, or only play casually for a few hours a day & don't care, you will end up buying turbine points becoming a VIP or quitting.

Your obviously not getting it, either stop playing it if you cant afford it, or accept the fact that its still a paying game that you can play freely with some limitations. Dont diss the game because its not like YOU wanted it to be. Theres a lot of people out there that really likes what Ddo did to thier game. If your unemployed, and dont have the time to grind Favor points, just to bad, i mean, its not Ddo's fault again. DDo won the Best Free mmo of 2009 btw from Ten tons hammer think about it

I know what the business model is for these free MMOs and why there's an item shop. I'm not complaining about there being one. I'm not particularly complaining about anything. I'm simply telling people the facts about how the game works out with the current Item Shop if you plan on simply not buying Turbine Points and want to play for free. Now GTFO.

I've noticed the community of the game is pretty cranky whenever you point out the flaws of the free to play model, especially this games. What most of the paying customers of this game don't realise is that if only VIPs played, there would be empty servers everywhere and you could probably squeeze all the servers into one and still had a small server.
So VIPs should take care about how much the players who play for free are enjoying the game, because without them you'll have a dead game.

You can just buy few points- and you will be premium member without monthly fee- you will have better rights... anyway- new dungeons and adventures are pretty expensive i think... you dont have to be VIP= monthly fee- i am premium member

Its nothing like guild wars, you cant even jump in guildwars, and its the same combat system then every other games out there, DDo is very different for combats.. this video doesnt represent most of it.

1st, DDo is DX10, you dont have that in GW, 2nd, its 4 years old, so the engin is a lot better, 3rd, its not based on any games out there. Ddo as a Unique combat system...Yeah, the interface may look like some other games, But your telling me that your with a 10mins video, you can tell its THE SAME? Seriously you need to play it, Fighting isnt the same at all really...I hate ppl that compares DDo to GW, because its nothing about guild wars anyway, and its not for under age players...btw

Well I'm not saying that it's like GW in gameplay (quests and monsters), I can't because I've never played it (though i'm highly interested in it) but you have to admit the interface style in THIS video is very similar to GW.

Well my interface is setted for me because i like it that way- You can fully move everything on screen and make new hotbars. Combat system is really awesome- In this game movement really affects combat

Fweega the game is pretty well populated you can find a group mostly and it's basically an awesome game! I play from time to time so can't be paying monthly for it as I have a job - but I'd really recommend this game. That's from someone that plays loads of pc games and has played WoW quite a bit too :D
Also I confess I love D&D since I was a kid.

Most of your skills are debuffs, knockdowns, stuns, taunts, that sort of thing. You combine these status attacks with your primary hack and slash combat. I'm going to be quite honest, at lower levels, it is quite boring, but once you get some levels under your belt, it's an amazingly addictive game. The combat is actually good, and the dungeons are amazingly immersive.

There aren't skills but you can enhance items . Gameplay is like WoW but your movement actions radically influences your Consequences. If you won't try it- you won't know how DDO Gameplay is cool. (I stopped playing because i think Turbine is bunch of thieves (they didn't robb me but their prices are awful)

dont buy anything on DDO store except adventures packs. Doing adventures in party is better. Keep good items and place them on action house.
