  • wow, how RANDOM was the "cancer of the eye" segway?

  • what big hands Oo my D3000 with battery grip looked in my hands the same size...

  • NICE VIDEO...VERY INFORMATIVE.

  • GJ! greg what flash is good for D7000?

  • GREAT !

  • EXCELLENT BOSS!!! OUTSTANDING INFO..thank you very much..you guys are really educating ppl here...keep them vids coming!! thanx a lot!

  • what exactly do you mean when you say "below" 1/200 of a second shutter speed? does that mean I should use a shutter speed faster than 1/200 or slower than 1/200?

  • Excellent Video Greg!! A little correction on the retinal diseases you were mentioning....It's Retinoblastoma which for the most part is a tumor inside the eye. As for the other disease it is Coats disease can have similar presentation of Retinoblastoma but not cancerous. I do retinal angiography and I'm really impressed you brought that up in this tutorial. Great job again!!

  • paparazzi people who randomly take photos of celebrity's should watch 3:04

  • we need to go back to explosion photography @ 0:40

  • awesome tips!!

  • Nice vid man, liked it!

  • You should get Greg a fro wig!

  • thanks for explanation (: can i request you do a tutorial video about the differences or how it looks if you use the flash off camera or which way is the best way to use the flash to have enough light in the picture and still see the detail. thanks

  • I have an old Starblitz 160M, Is it safe to use with my Nikon D5000? Someone told me that i can fry the internal components of the camera if i used it..

  • @AdrianPodkos check it on the volt meter, if its past a certain number, don't bother, I don't remember what that number was

  • the d3 looks tiny compared to Greg

  • The d3 looks tiny compared to greg

  • you forgot those cubes

  • That D3 looks tiny next to you (no, thats not a fat joke) It looks like a point and shhoot in your hands lol. Great video for those wanting to get to grips with proper flash.

  • Great video Greg!

Do you plan to demonstrate some practical usage, tutorials and guides about flash usage for beginners? Lighting setups, dos and donts ?

  • cool! can't wait for the other videos about flash! Very interesting!

  • Greg's hand makes that D3s look tiny lol.

  • @5Sportfreak5 sorry ;)

  • I have an old flash of my dads from the 80's would it work on my D3100? I tried to use it but I dont know how to lock it in its a Rollei flash 134 REB?

  • @wishonamoonbeam I doubt it. You can try putting the camera in manual mode to see if that works. I always recommend buying the camera manufacturer's speedlight as your first flash, its much better to learn with.

  • @wishonamoonbeam it might work but it probably won't communicate with the camera, so everything would be manual. you may want to upgrade to an SB600, which can be found for about $150 used.

  • Should I use the hot-shoe cover when I have no flash attached?

  • @Zaneathankid no a major issue in my mind, maybe if your out in the weather but honestly never used one on any of mine. Im sure it is there for a reason thought.

  • @Zaneathankid I don't, my D3s came with one and it has stayed in the box since I took the body out.

  • @Zaneathankid I've cut my hand on the hot shoe when the cover wasn't in there, so if you don't use the cover just realize that it is still a hard piece of metal.

  • Good video-looking forward to seeing more!

  • We shoot our new comedy series with the Nikon D3100 that was featured in a few of your videos. Tell us how we're doing. (:

  • sb-26 woo whooooo!

  • Very nice video Greg .How about a flash photography tutorial video?

  • Cant wait for the rest of the flash videos, just started playing with flash and would love to see your guys thoughts and tips etc on the matter.

    Keep em coming.

  • you could have told more about what the different settings, flashes and the diffuser modifiers do different to the photos

  • There was an option (thick) on channel, but I never thick one. Thanks a lot for videos. Could you explain editing on Joey L or similar style, please?

  • Great vid, can't wait for more advanced flash based videos! Keep it movin!

  • Oh such a memories =) the onetime use flashes =) Grate video ! Thanks for sharing Greg !

  • GREG!! you killed it today!!! thanks so much for doing this video on flash.

  • Can't wait to see more of Greg, well done.

  • You guys have really pushed me to shoot without my flash! And wanna say thanks! Really opened up my photography in a short amount of time

  • @deadkennedys909 Its all about how/when/where to apply everything you know about photography. A little bit of flash goes a long way and a lot of the time you don't even need it! Its definitely overused and that comes from the way our cameras are programmed on automatic mode.

  • I love know about some of the history behind what we all do whether its as a hobby or full/part time job. Would you possibly be able to do a video on off camera flash with the cable connected from camera to flash? As I have problems doing both at the same time haha. Thanks!

  • The way you guys say 'Fro knows photo' kills me.

  • Looking forward to more Flash Videos Thank you

P.s What do you guys think of Garyfongs Lightsphere ?

  • @rudrugis I am not a fan. I believe too many people use a single modifier as a crutch instead of having multiple and using the correct one for the job.

  • @gregorycazillo Thanks for the reply Greg and keep the good stuff coming

  • Good video and good information, but I would have liked to see what you talked about in practice with some examples of the results. I think that would have strengthened your video. Maybe an extended video on this topic would be in order.

  • @haji727 this is the first video of a long series of flash videos that of course will show examples. This is just an introduction.

  • @JaredPolin Cant wait for more :) I need to know about this, my built in flash is no good for my Sigma 18-200mm lens. Gets an black convex shape on the bottom of my pictures when shooting with the built in flash :)

  • @ElgenHD Same here, I ended up breaking that lens, so, a small pocket strobe should work alright, just diffuse it and it should have some nice results, and also, don't torque that zoom ring on that sigma, they are rather delicate

  • Huge camera. Huge hands.

  • I like Greg's music better than Jared. :D

  • If I go under 500th I get pictures way blown out.

  • not too familiar with flash photography yet...Thanks Greg!

  • when u say below....u mean slower or faster?

  • @Xndingo11 Slower...1/60th 1/125th etc. Anything above 1/200th (1/500th 1/1000th) may prevent the flash from exposing the entire image. This is also camera/flash dependent as I mention in the video.

  • im a flash photographer myself. love that u guys are starting this. will be waiting to see more videos about the use of flash.

  • Using your flash during the superbowl might work with all of them combined :)

  • Great video! Wish to see more like these, perfect mix with Jared and Greg. Thanks a lot :)

  • i hate those off camera flashes thoere soo freakin expensive. her greg quick question. at full power how many wats can a sb 900 crank out?

  • loved this. plz make more vids about flash photography... need to learn more, thanks :D

  • Hi Greg, what is that connector you connect from your camera to the flash unit when you talk about the off-camera flash?

  • @QuannieBoy Nikon SC-29.

  • good info, now id like to see how to effectively use the flash on and off camera

  • A HUUUGE thank you for the Retinoblastoma and Coats’ Disease infos !!!!!!

just in case... thanks !!! and btw great video as always !!!!

    cheers from Greece !!!

  • Why did you bring up coates' disease? It can be detected with a flash?

  • @MandrakeCigars Yes, it can be detected with a flash similar to red eye. In the post on froknowsphoto com I have a link with more info.

  • Fro, what happen to your hair man?

  • Question, did you guys get notifications by e mail when my videos go live?

  • @JaredPolin I did not get any emails. Just happened to refresh youtube and there it was in my sub box. Thanks for all your videos!

  • @JaredPolin I just checked my youtube sub and no, I did not have the check box selected. I do now!

  • JaredPolin: The email notification is optional. I subscribed to your channel without being notified.

  • @JaredPolin BAM, got it in my emails Jared BAM, Gonna watch em all :) BAM thanks
