his accent is so hard to place, because he speaks so erratically...im wondering if it's deliberately, to make him seem more unpredictable...coz sometimes he sounds english and sometimes almost american...if i had to guess i'd say irish?? xx
I love Moriarty so much I don't want him to be dead, but if they bring him back I'll be dissapointed that they copped out and annoyed that they didn't stick to canon. Of course they won't they're too big fanboys for that, but still. *sigh* I wonder if they'll exploit the fact that ACD James Moriarty has a brother called James Moriarty in the same way they used Watson's moving war wound?
@ArtemisScribe My theory is that the whole series is flipped. Sherlock was actually Moriarty this whole time, Watson was Moran, and the assassins were police officers trying to kill 'Sherlock's' criminal friends who had infiltrated the police system, and so on.
XD
It would be a good plot twist though, how would you reveal it? Other than the whole I'm you thing... What if this is a case of Multiple PErsonality Disorder? Everyone is Sherlock! O.o Each side of his personality! 0:)
The very last second of this clip is the moment that Moriarty decides to kill himself. You just see his whole face change in an instant - he starts blinking a lot and licking his lips like he's anxious. Because he knows what he has to do.
@josh2000film umm im pretty sure thats the real moriarty. Have you read the original novels and stories? Moriarty dies at reichenbach falls and sherlock 'dies' as well but in a later story sir ACD brought him back to john after three years saying he 'retired'. So originally sherlock and moriarty die at the same time at reichenbach so as this episode is the reichenbach fall i assume that thats the real moriarty
0:27 Attention, ladies and gentlemen. The man that you know to be Sherlock Holmes is actually 6 feet of pure sass arranged in some sort of human-like form.
Now that I think of it, the singing was really out of character. Maybe its the call off code or SOMETHING. Like the intervals he used or the notes is the password...
@fireandair1593 Yeah like the 'you ain't nothing' Elvis thing in hound of baskerville. Its weird, but maybe their related somehow? The out of character things?
it's just, the preparetions downside hasn't finished yet and he has to do something till, the landing scene will be ready. Original plan was, after Moriarty gives him some "privacy" and he jumps, before moriarty arrives to rim to look down they just would have been finished the fake scene. John's arrival wasn't in the plan so Sherlock imrovized and actually gived some clues to John too but John didn't get them and believed the death.
@Totyi Moriarty shaking hands with Sherlock is also clever if you subscribe to the 'Sherlock slowed his pulse by holding the rubber ball under his arm' theory. Moriarty guesses this, shakes Sherlock's hand and, feeling no pulse, knows that Sherlock is prepared to fake his own death. This is his 'way out'.
I also noticed how when he sings 'ive got you', it was out of character. Then I worked out - Ive Got You: 'I' is the 1st letter of I've, 'o' is the second letter of got, 'u' is the third letter of you. IOU. 1,2,3. Maybe for three assasins? dunno, just something I noticed after a week of trying to work out how he faked his death! :D
They wanna see us fall they wanna see us fall / I don't need a parachute baby if I've got you / Baby if I've got you I don't need a parachute / You're gonna catch me / You're gonna catch if I fall, down, down, down
But if this is the 'out of character thing' Moffat was talking about.. What information does it give us on how he faked his death?
What a bizarre coincidence. Sherlock sings 'If I've got you'. Google "if I've got you" + song. You get a song called 'Parachute', the lyrics of which are:
"Baby, if I've got you / I don't need a parachute / You're gonna catch me if I fall."
@bluecoldmildsalts So basically he could be saying that if he's got Jim alive, he won't need to use a parachute which he had planned on using (and does use after M kills himself)?!?!?!?!?!?!?! THAT COAT COULD HIDE A BADASS PARACHUTE ALL RIGHT!
@bluecoldmildsalts sherlock would be proud...beats my theory that Sherlock actually died and put an elaborate moving statue of himself in the graveyard to mindF*** us all :)
Okay, so I've been trying to figure out what IOU stands for, because I feel like it has more of a meaning than "I want to you to jump off a building later." It kept showing up in the episode--three times, I think. I didn't notice it before, but what if the "O" is more of a blank space, and it needed to be filled with something? A word? What if he just solved the riddle? "IOU" "I ___ You" "I've GOT you". Maybe that's why he "sang" it, to taunt Moriarty now that he'd found it?
@geekysama I hereby put forth a petition to change the meaning of IOU to 'I want to you to jump off a building later.' Just because it sounds better. I think you're right though, it's not as simple as it makes out. You've got a really good theory there.
how could he plan to fake his death if a) he didnt know the other guy would shoot himself, and b)he didnt know the other guy wanted him to commit suicide
@antony492 I think he figured it out beforehand: like you know just after they left that journalist's house (where Sherlock and John just found out that Moriarty was "Richard Brook")...I think Sherlock figured out that Moriarty's solution to the final problem was for Moriarty to make Sherlock commit suicide (thus destroying him and his reputation).
@antony492 He did suspect Moriarty wanted him to commit suicide. He realises after leaving the journalist's house, and goes straight to Molly to help him and tells her "I think I'm going to die."
@JamieHowitt except for when they are on teh building, Moriarty says 'glad you chose a tall building, nice way to do it', to which Sherlock for a moment doesn't know what he means.
@Totyi Hey guys!!! Another idea came to my mind... Do you remember when Jim and Sherlock are talking (when IOU first appears)? Jim says that he had already told Sherlock the Final Problem... and then he SINGS. "But did you listen?" and then Sherlock sings at the end "If I've got you." Dou you think it can be an answer to Jim?
@Totyi Oh, and something else... Shaking hands must be important too... Do you remember when one of the killers die?? When he shakes hands with Sherlock. And remember when Jim Moriarty dies? When he shakes hands with Sherlock...
@Totyi Sherlock has stretched out on the roof, when the telephone call with John, his arm. Why would he do that? It does not fit his character. He is not as 'sentimental'. Maybe that was a sign for Molly or anyone else for whatever .. Maybe that's the clue that Mr. Moffat talking about? At least that's my theorie. =)
@Janul2 Is it weird if I found that to be Sherlock's creepiest moment in the whole series, but I still laughed when he sang it and had that one in a million look on his face?
