One line shouldn't change the fact that the song is about God's love. Both versions reach different people which is so important. If i wrote a song that only targeted a certain number of people, i would without a doubt let someone change a line to reach the ones i missed. When it comes to spreading God's love, its about whats effective, its not about how you want it to be said, its about people understanding that no matter what, God will love us all.

Im not a fan of people changing lines in songs just for the sake of not offending people- the lyric heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss is powerful- when the love of God meets a human it's messy- and the Gospel is both beautiful and offensive- john mark is a friend of mine and he's not a huge fan of people changing his lyrics

i disagree, to use in worship i find JMM original lyrics completely distracting. The first time I sang this song in worship I left going that was a great song, except for that one line. We change the line complete when we sing it in our church.

I disagree!! I thought the original lyrics were great for the song if you were just listening, but as a worship song, singing those words was a little strange and distracting. At my Church we sing "heaven meets earth, and its time to rest" because sloppy wet kiss, seems a little... too informal i suppose. I dont want to talk about a "Sloppy wet kiss" when thinking about God.

And personally, I can make argument that Sloppy Wet Kiss isnt as theologically secure as unforseen, like DCB uses. Jesus was the cornerstone that was rejected, so the purpose in his presence was unforseen, wasnt it?

John Mark McMillan wrote this song about his friend steven who said he would give his life to shake the youth of this nation in a prayer meeting. That night he died in a car accident.

It was no accident that JMM wrote the song about his friends meeting our saviour in passing.

this is an awful version!!! why can't Clear Channel Communications, the company that owns 90% of the airwaves, let the original artist, John Mark McMillan, get on the radio and play his version. the same with Revelation Song by Kari Jobe being covered by Phillips, Craig & Dean and Waterdeep's You Are So Good To Me being covered by 3rd Day.
