@dawidjoseph05 Well, that statement has a base of truth, as Wagner was Hitler's favourite composer. On the other hand his music promotes national german values so...
plzzzzzzzzzzz everybody I've seen also the finale of act 1 from Die walkure in video JOhn Vickers as Segmonde and conducted by karajan, plzzz does anybody know about a video recording of the entire ring conducted by karajan??? or even some of its operas??
I just listened to Karajan's "Rheingold"-Recording for the - aahm - i think 258th time?!? It's fuckin UNBELIEVABLE!! Here's my message to anyone who doesn't own that CD: GO AND GET IT! RIGHT NOW!!!
@dercrazykraut I have the Solti version of Rheingold and the three rest operas by Karajan in cd. I'd like to listen to Karajan's rheingold, I wonder if there are any mp3's of it on the net.. :/
@batiris Man, just walk into a record store an buy the cd box - it's not that expensive (at least not here in germany ;) ! TRUST ME, you won't regret it...!
I adore the way Wagner reproduces the leitmotives through all Der Ring des Nibelungen, with beautiful variations and also in a part of Valkure a mix of the 4 motives..
All my love for this great artis, once revolutionary with Bakunin (anarchist)!

Thank god!!!!! I thought there was a full thing. I TOTALLY understand why the lack of funding!! it is a HIDEOUS production. Musically its 1st. class, but WHY O WHY would they let Herbie do the stage direction?!?!? He has no clue!!! YUK!!
This is a superb Ring cycle. I have to say I much prefer a traditional ring than some of the modern abstract efforts that ahve been around of late. Wotan dressed ina lounge suit, the Rhinemaiden dressed as tarts or neibelheim full of corpse stealing zombies, for heavens sake.

thank you so much !!

"Pharaoh" ( of polish writer Boleslaw Prus by the way )
and you know what school finished Pol Pot ( cambodian dictator ? the Sorbona University
what's conclusion ?
don't study at the Sorbona University beacuse Pol Potstudied there ?
don't read "Pharaoh" beacuse that was favourite book of Stalin ?
don't listen Wagner's music beacuse Hitler liked Wagner ?
IT'S NONSENSE
dawidjoseph05 1 month ago
@dawidjoseph05 I did not say that. As far as i am on this page, i so listen to Wagner.
I just made my point that there can be found a link between Wagner and Hitler, no way I agreed with those statements.

For orchestral music in Rheingold, I'd have to say this is one of the most amazing parts, other than the Finale.

@dercrazykraut hehe actually I found the Solti version and listened to the operas. Great recording, (better than my old noisy Rheingold).
And I like tha fact that I can hear the sound effects (like the cutting of the anvil in Siegfried etc) unlike the Karajan version.
But at the end would say I still prefer Karajan's version :)

Wagner copied LISZT style that's why he's nothing compared to him.

I thought they abandoned this cycle halfway thru Die Walkure due to a lack of funding?

I think your right, maybe i should re-phrase it as this ia a superb Rhiengold in what could have been a superb ring.
At least though Karajan's ring is available on audio and well worth hearing.

Kelemen was a wonderful Alberich. Superbly sung and acted with a real ring at the top of his voice.

Wagner is the Great - he takes 1851, 21 "Ambosse" in his DAS RHEINGOLD! He is the first Industrial-Pop-Art-Actor ever!
1983, DEPECHE MODE takes "Ambosse" for thair Wave-Pop and before whe had a new stile of music - the Industrial-Sound!

Verdi got an Anvil Chorus in Il Trovatore. I think it predates Das Rheingold by quite a few years. I think you got a good point though. This stuff is industrial. Also, the prelude to Das Rheingold might be thought of as the first minimalist piece.
