In my country we use sheep's bladders that are dried in the sun for at least 4 hours. Once they dry they are very strong. Then the piñata is filled with small sausages. Some paint the piñata, but my family does not. You are blindfolded and you hit the piñata with a shepherd's crook. Children love this tradition!
