yeah. and it appears you can't restore them back onto the ipod, because it wouldnt let him. it made him start a new whole configuration thing with the name and such.

no.. firmwares wont effect a warranty because firmwares change (ie. 2.2 to 2.2.1 to 3.0)

and your second question.... yeah, that will most likely void the warranty

i have the iphone 3g, recently jailbroke it to 3.0 and yes 3.0 sucks on the jailbreak its slows the both the iphone and ipod touch down. now heres my problem i want to downgrade to 2.2.1 but it almost seems like every app is for 3.0 =/ i just am worried bout taking the time to do this to then see i cant download shazam and such cuz its only 3.0

are you sure they only work on 3.0??? tht doesnt sound right.. ill bet they will work on 2.2.1... i downloaded shazam on my ipod last week (idk why.. haha pointless) but it worked for me... i would backup everything on your iphone (music, videos, photos) in folders so its easy to put back and just try to restore back to 2.2.1 and see if it works... and if it doesnt, you can restore back to 3.0 for free using the 3.0 firmware from the website i gave a link to..
