I enjoyed listening to you ephsJennifer. I remember playing this verson of the song back when I was younger. I believe you are reading from the same music book my old piano teacher, Lynn Griffin, had. Could you please tell me the name of the book? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
@vvesblack What?! That was my piano teacher as well! Have we met or how did you know that? The book is called, "Just A Closer Walk" by Bill Wolaver. It was published in 1988, so I don't know how you would go about finding it...
@ephsjennifer That's crazy! Yes, she was my teacher back when I started playing. I stopped going to her when I was about 18yo which would have been around '96. This last weekend I went to my friend's daughter's 1st b-day. While I was there he was showing me some music and this song came up for some reason. I couldn't remember all of it so when I got home I searched YT and you where playing it. Thanks for the name! I might just have to call Lynn up and ask her as her book had many songs in it.
@vvesblack Well how did you know to put her name in the comment, it doesn't say on my youtube where I'm from? Anyways, I went from age 7-14, which was 1995-2002.
@vvesblack Oh, and did you know the Curtiss girls, Mandi, Kristi, and Sara? They would have been closer to your age and took from her as well. They went to my church and were my baby-sitters for a while!
@Johneyreacko Thanks! I don't remember how long it took me to play them well - I played for years when I was younger. I can only do it with the back of my hand, not my thumbs when it goes down.
I can't believe with the kindle and sony reader there isn't a sheet music gadget that turns the page for you when you step on a pedal...
I wish I could read. I can improvise and play by ear but I am always so fascinated by watching someone look at dots on a paper and crank out music.. that's amazing to me.
But then again some of those people are amazed that I can play from hearing something or without any music.. I guess the grass will be greener.. ; ) I think reading is more impressive though
@gulgul2006 I torally disagree. Reading can be learned (though quality may be poor if talent is lacking). "By ear" is ALL talent! God given and possessed by relatively few; certainly not me!
I play the upright bas - ben taking lesons for 2 years - and I played this song when we were studying jazz.
I realy do your interpretation of this old jaz & gospel standard. I would dearly love hearing more such tune from you. May I suggest "All of Me". It has ben done by so many as a fast song, slow song, R&B, etc, and I would enjoy hearing your interpretation.
I have one more request. Tel what key it is in so I can play with you. Thanks
Thanks. It's a really old book - it's called "Just a Closer Walk" by Bill Wolaver and it has several different jazzy songs in it. It was published in 1988. My mom had it and just gave it to me.

Thanks, but I am reading music so I wouldn't be able to do "All of Me" unless I found music for it, and I don't think I know that song. The key is G.
