  • The Bay Area's own home grown finest. Love you girls

  • FIRE!!!!

  • Know what... no matter how many years go by, and how deep time goes into the 21st century, I'll ALWAYS prefer late 20th century classics like this over today's whatever you call them. Will I be missing out on anything... NOPE! What makes today great is YOUTUBE, where you get to pick what songs, what videos you prefer anytime, anywhere. But, I'll always have that late 20th century music taste in me.

  • Anita had body down!

  • BRUCEEEEEEEEEEEEE <3

  • How funny! The month that this tune was A Top 5 for The Pointer Sisters on The Billboard Pop Charts, I recieved a 3rd degree burn on my butt being careless around a hot steam vaporizer. Of course, then again, I'm pretty sure there were Afirican-american men who thought The Pointer Sisters had pretty hot asses in their own right. Nice going, girls!

  • ME ENCANTANNN SON GENIALES !!!!

  • Bruce 4 teh win

  • This was some really nice music!

  • im 17 and i love the pointer sisters! No one my age knows who they are but... I love them!

  • Anita and June have the sexiest overbites !

  • Now I gotta find Robin Williams/ Elmer Fudd version.

  • The Boss wrote this song for Elvis to begin with but the King Died may he RIP !

Man can you imagine the King singing this song !!..

    OOOHHHHHHH ...................FIRE !!!!

  • my favorite song! the sexiest song ever! so hot!!!

  • Classic

  • "If you say you don't like it, you know you're a liar."

  • @chairjockey1 "I say I don't like it, but you know I'm a liar"

  • R I P June Pointer You'll Be Missed

  • Miss these ladies, great performers!!!

  • Love this!!!'

  • Anita, Ruth and June! Are like FIRE! What a great upload!!!

  • What a sexy song!!! The Pointer Sisters are awesome.

  • The best part is that break before the line....."Oh Romeo and Juliet, Sampson and Delilah..."

    Yeah, that's the money.

  • What bladeofthebunny said

  • I will love the Pointer Sisters always, til the day I die!

  • when rock meets soul, it can be so very good (see Macy Gray for example)

  • beyonce and rhianna wish they had this kinda soul. they are so natural and attractive. without all the special effects and costumes. they just walked on stage off the streets and did that! and the lyrics? cmon. these 'plastic' divas of today are so busy being seen here and there with this one and that one. Where is the talent. these DIVAS dont get the recognition at all. wats up BET?

  • Been listening to this song since I was about 12......Still love it!

  • What a KILLER song!! The two people at the bottom who rated this 'dislike' are going into the fire.....HEAD FIRST!!!!!

  • Did The Midnight Special have FM-Stereo simulcast? I ask as an older friend of mine has memories of watching them while at a party & telling others to "Keep it down!" so she could hear them on the radio. Also... Did they perform "Slow Hand" on this show to? In this or a different episode perhaps?

  • A really great tune.

Weird message though. It's like the date rapist anthem.

    No means No, P Sisters!

  • @gallopinggraham

No doubt! I say no, I don't like it, but we do it anyway. Make up your mind lady!!!! hahaha

  • Jeri Curl days !! I am amazed, i saw that still in Las Vegas, a few years ago. I am a stylist. I thought that went out ,a long time ago. I live in D.C. and you never see thE Jeri Curl .

  • @gyellowmoon It's because what you see in Vegas, stays in Vegas! Including greasy hair. ;) hehe. Oh, I used to have a JCurl back in the day in the Bronx, NY circa 1983. Good thing that fad went quick and I don't have photos that survived to embarrass and haunt me. :)

  • have always adored this....and hilarious when robin williams does his elmer fudd version !

  • alot of people have done this song, but the Pointer sisters always did it best!

  • ONE OF THEM PASSED AWAY OF CANCER

  • @sexytrannienj Yes. She went home to be with Jesus Christ on April 11th 2006.

  • @BBQFanNo1 Rest in Peace to her, and April 11 is actually my B-Day.

  • im not so sure. The Pointers have a certain mouth structure and eyes set. She doesnt look like Ruth in any of the other vids.....

  • @philburrell - I have been following the Pointer Sisters since 1973, been to many of their concerts since then and have seen them up close, that is Ruth. Check out some of the early album covers Energy - 1978, Priority - 1979 and Special Things - 1980.

  • @SafariCreations That's not Ruth, it's Anita

  • @SafariCreations Ruth is in the suspenders, june in orange, and anita singling lead in the huge polka dots. You know it when Ruth is singing lead cuz her voice is LOOOOOOOW.

  • @SafariCreations That is Ruth for sure !

  • @philburrell this one is my fav

  • @philburrell I have known Ruth since 1979 when we both lived in Marin Country California and I can tell you that it is Ruth.

  • ..who is the girl in the black outfit.....I don't recognize her and she doesn't look familiar?

  • @philburrell - The one in the black outfit is Ruth Pointer. Anita Pointer is singing lead, and the great June Pointer is on the left side in the gold (design) shirt and blue pants.

They have another sister named Bonnie Pointer. She use to be in the group, but by this time had left for solo career.

  • They were surely on fire!

  • they're so beautiful...

  • surely the first black girl group to fully embrace rock music? pioneers!

  • Love the Pointer Sister's,and love this song, :)

  • I love the part " Romeo and Juliet Samson and Delilah"

  • thanks for posting, this song always puts me in a good mood

  • please come by and join my facebook group The Pointer Sisters for the 2011 Bet Lifetime Achievement Award. The Pointer's really deserve to be honored plus it worked for Betty White lets try for The Pointer Sisters

  • I L O V E the funky, low-down, raw days of off-the-rack costumes!!!

  • disco ??

  • June Pointer you are soooooooooooo MISSED. R.I.P

  • @646TB Amen..the bad will never be the smae

  • I MIGHT BE WRONG BUT I THINK THEY DID THIS SONG ANG WROTE IT AND PRODUCED IT ALSO BUT I COULD BE WRONG !!

  • @TheLegallarry Yes you are wrong . Bruce Springstein wrote this song .I prefer the sisters version ,mind .

  • @TheLegallarry Produced by Richard Perry

  • @TheLegallarry - Bruce Springstein wrote this song, Pointer Sisters cover it. Someone has uploaded Bruce's version (if you will) here on youtube, just do a search for it. If you like the sisters cover, I think you'll like Bruce's as well.

  • i looooove this song!

  • I had this experience with the love of my life - just met, dying to grab him but it was the first date! Fire is right. I have to say I feel the Sisters and the band all felt a geat truth when they sang this song, an essential and beautiful human experience if you are one of the lucky ones. And only a girl would sing these lyrics - grls have to put the brakes on things.

  • yes this songs was written by Bruce Springsteen. He wrote a few of their songs before he made it big himself. The song was just covered on Glee....but they covered the Pointer Sisters version, not how Bruce performs it. i looovee this song=)

  • @balletluver4eva Bruce Springsteen mentioned he likes the Pointer Sisters singing the song even better than his version singing the song.

Think about that. The man who wrote the song likes the Pointer Sisters version sung of the song better.

  • @BBQFanNo1 Couldn't said it any better, by far the best VERSION of the song...

Springsteen is the GENIUS behind it, while the Pointer Sisters brought the BEST out of it.

  • I LOVE LOVE THIS SONG!

  • xxxx

  • This 45 was plaaaaaayed to DEATH....but it's a good one!

  • Heard 2 custom versions of this in Chicago. 1 for WLS, the other for WE-FM. Hit #2 pop, #14 soul, #21 AC in Billboard. God bless, sisters! RIP, June.

  • Will we ever, ever again see real sisters singing together like this again, at the top of the pops? The may be attractive women, but they were stars because they could SING! Back then it was talent first, looks second... Now?

  • @DailyBrusher - I agree with you 100%. I'm so sick of today's music, I can't stand it. Why won't it just go back to this.....PLEASE!

  • I believe it was written by Bruce Springsteen... No?

  • @krimson106 Yes it was.

  • my favourite pointers song

  • So much years later and it's still só amazing..

  • Good song. Bruce Springsteen wrote this originally for Elvis to sing.

  • pant pant pant more please i so miss this such bloody great music . .

  • Goodness in a song.

  • @Herstory4321 yes, I agree, but only when sung by a woman ... if by a man, could be construed as harassment? or overaggressive romance?

  • Man i love the Pointer Sisters

  • God, this takes me back years! The original and best!

  • i finaaly found this also could not remmember the name my mom and me saw this song at the theater when she was alive play on MOM

    Great 70s!

  • Damn, I loved the Midnight Special !

  • they were so sensual n Bruces song wow

  • is that a B3 Hammond I hear or is it a keyboard or diff. organ??

  • @MrISABELLAIS1 Thats a Hammond B3 organ. great sound and great playing. Wonder who it is.

  • WHEN WE KISS OOOHHHH FIRE.. I have always liked this song!

  • I can't think of another artist who sang about sexual relations in such a classy way...

  • OOOH LOVE THIS ONEEEEE!!

  • Thank You! This is awesome. I've seen them in person once in the eighties (Atlantic City! Also my frist concert!!) and they were unbelievable. This performance, as I type this, seems perfectly Pointer. I will cherish this. Thanks again! We need another Midnight Special!

  • Great comment "elisamia84" I'm sure all the other viewers really enjoyed it.

  • me encanta el estilo de las Pointer sister sus canciones me hacen bailar como en esos tiempos

  • Good video quality.

  • I adored this teasy tune even when the times were high and low. I loved the skin tight silk kinda leggies, cause they looked pretty good with the long thighs just like here ... :)

Tks. for ya upload... , )

    Regards from Budapest

  • One of my favorite songs from the late 70's. Brilliant!

  • I miss the original Sista's with there attire from the Goodwill. That was always cool to me that they got their suits from there. They were original and memorable.

    SpeakTruer

  • This seems to lack any guts, although they do it well.

The latest album by them isn't the original liine up for obvious reasons, and the entire thing is a disappointment. Daughters of the original Pointers just don't have what their mothers did

  • incredible

  • You know I'm a liar, if I say I don't love the Pointer Sisters. I just bougt their Energy CD (a reissue fm Wounded Bird) and this song is on it. Springsteen wrote Fire. I love the way Anita sings it.

  • Bruce wrote Fire for Robert Gordon( an elvis rockabilly type performer). Then the Pointer Sisters decided to cover it and made it an international hit ( great for Bruce and he performed it live, but I have never seen Fire on a CD but I could be wrong) Robert Gordon's version is cool, but you got to listen to an older recording. RG still tours and plays it, but the older stuff is better. Bruce supported RG bigtime.

  • hmm interesting ... but I heard Springsteen wrote the song for expressly Elvis and gave it to him to sing. Bruce was a big fan. But Elvis died before ever recording it. The song then fell into the Pointer Sisters hands, and it really wasn't a "cover" since nobody before them had recorded it.

  • oops! now I did my homework ... Yes, Robert Gordon did record it first, before the Pointer Sisters.

  • I bought a Robert Gordon CD and it says specifically that Bruce thought Robert Gordon was exceptional and he wrote the song Fire for him. And then the Pointer Sisters covered it and made it even a bigger hit. Bruce even duetted with RG on stage and played the piano part of Fire on the studio recording. I bet Springsteen wanted Elvis to do it, it would have been perfect for him. A lot of songs E. did were done by a lot of other performers, like Blue Suede Shoes for example.

  • Bruce's own studio recorded version of "Fire" is sung in the style of Elvis - very cool. The song was incomplete lyrically, but it runs a good 3.5 minutes, with a nice sax solo by Clarence in the middle.

  • this version is so good. still good after all these years.

  • okay, this is the best of the Pointer Sisters!!

  • just beautiful ... the ladies really seem to have a good time doing that song. nice find Darryl.

  • This is what real music is all about. Listen up Rap/Hip-Hop community. Listen to this VERY CAREFULLY!!! And then take plenty of notes...

  • First among those notes: This song was written and performed by Bruce Springsteen.

The Sisters truly do it justice.

  • I'm aware of who wrote and performed this song first. I know the sisters' version is a cover, but my point is that the music of today can't touch stuff like this.

  • Absolutely! It was a time of melody and intelligence in music and lyrics. I say leave irony to Letterman. 20 year old musicians just cannot make it work.

  • I agree Music sucks lately but Be careful about Judging young Musicians..

A 20 year old Mick Jagger was once Judged like this and so was a Little Stevie Wonder...

  • I hear ya djrogers1989, but you have to admit, little stevie wonder and young mick jagger's music, and the beatles, and so on and so forth, was about something. you could hear it in the lyric. Today, you hear stuff like "drive-by's", and "slangin'", and gang "bangin'". We've dropped the ball somewhere between where music just took a dive...right around mid to late 90's and that's being kind...

  • oh i do agree!! I LOVE their version !! love both versions!!

  • Hell listen up R&B!! Hip Hop has its roots in quality R&B tracks. So you cannot blame Hip Hops lack of creativity on itself. Hell the reason why Soul Train left the tracks is because R&B lost it's soul. THAT'S why we're on youtube enjoying classic music. Tell the R&B singers of today to go back to church and listen and sing along.

  • WoW!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is classic! Thanks

  • woo hoo! found this song.
