I'll be 27 in April *God willing*, and even though I'm not a mother, I see what you are talking about. These young mothers are living like they are childless. Clubbing every weekend---etc. I understand everyone makes mistakes, but clubbing while your child(ren) are at home waiting on you is a huge NO-NO. Great insight AE, you need to be a traveling motivational speaker.
I had my daughter at 18 going on 19. I was so ashamed, I totally agree with you. I am still in my 20s but I have to work and care for her. It's hard, I can't change what has happened but I do advise young ladies to take the necessary precautions to prevent pregnancy. Having a child is life altering for sure. It's hard. Take care AE. I salute you for making these videos because so many women say my babies are my angels and they have 5 kids by 5 men and never married. It's hard!
You are one of the most inspirational person i have come across on YouTube. I'll b 20 in a month and just got engaged.. I know that's young and no I'm not pregnant and nor do I have any kids. But it's because of people like you that speak the truth that give me the motivation to not fall into the pattern of being a teen mom. I feel as though all these programs on tv encourage teen moms rather than telling the honest truth. And I won't lie sometimes I think to myself if I had a baby right now th
Most of my friends from high school have children that are like 3 or 4 now. I'm a guy, single and still a virgin. I'm proud to be one. I want to be a father someday, but I'm young (21) about to get my associate's degree in business. When I'm ready to start a family, I want to be sure that the woman I give myself too is the ONE. I want to know a bit more about this world, this universe, about life. Most teenagers think that having sex is a game. No. There are spiritual and physical consequences.
I am a new guru. and I dont get the views I deserve.I love makeup and fashion with all my heart. even if you watch one of my videos just for 20 seconds. It would mean the world to me :)
I was pregnant with my son at 20 years of age It isn't glamorous it isn't a walk in the park. Children are a blessing and they teach us to grow but there was a lot of things I needed to change in order to raise my child in a good environment, I went through a phase where I wanted to party and do things for myself. I came to terms with me being a young mom and mad the necessary changes. Thanks for your views love the vid<3
@DaNappyPrincess: Thanks! But from my perspective it was not difficult. Hardness and difficulty are subjective and very individual. Either way, I enjoyed the video and hearing AfricanExport's perspective...GB!
I have a son at the age of 14, I got pregnant when I lost my virginity. My child's father ignores us and denies my son. My son has never asked about his father and he is now 8, I brung up the convo! He has uncle and cousins (male influences) and now my husband. I love my son to DEATH, but in reality I know my life would have been different if I chose to wait and there were struggles because i did not! It is hard and I went through so much and i love this vid and what your doin on this platform
Thank you so much for this video! You are definitely the realest channel out there. My friends and I are in our 20s, enjoying life, all graduated from school, 2 or more degrees and with thriving careers. And though we have made plenty of mistakes, it was OUR mistakes and effected only us, and allowed us to make changes that impacted OUR lives and makes for a stronger woman for the children that we'll eventually have! I appreciate your honesty!
I feel the same way being in my 20's. I'm 23 and I enjoy not having major responsibilities and I am aware of that. I also know I'm not ready nor am I looking forward to adding a stress into my life. I'm a pretty selfish person, and I'm in no position to have a child. That's the truth. It's 100% avoidable. Great vid.
Gurl, you betta talk! Hell, I didn't have my child until I was 23 and I still f-ed up! I would have pushed a manual out! Where the hell is the f-ing manual for this parenting BS?! I don't know about anyone else, but if I knew then, what I know now - I would have gotten a hysterectomy long before I got pregnant! Just sayin'....
I think most people 4 forget that pregnancy is inevitable when havin sex. and sh*t happens sometimes but it all depends on who is ready 2 b a mother some females who do get pregnant early dnt mind bein a young mom while some want to liv up their young lives nd be free
@tony666ism Thats not even wat i meant but OKAy lmaoo at da end of da day everyone is responsible 4 their self dat statement does not free anybody she should have sense of wat shes doin i meant that havin sex u can get pregnant nd the gurls i know that are my age dnt use condoms nor birth control
I'm not a parent, but I have always been surrounded by teen/in early 20s/single mothers, and you are absolutely right! People don't like to admit this hard truth, but it's real! I'm 25 with no kids and a lot of times these ladies will want to try and do the things I do and they have a hard time realizing that that season of their life is over. Then of course there is the infamous baby momma/daddy drama UGH! Thats motivation 4 me 2 WAIT til God sends my husband and we build a family TOGETHER!
Thank you for being open and honest...Thank you for being a voice of reason in all this foolishness...Thank you for giving guidance...but at the end of the day we must all hope for the best, but prepare for the worse...that being said, we can all look to what goals we would like to achieve, but God's plans always supersede our own...lol...in the meantime stay blessed and continue to be a blessing to us all...
off topic but, UGH. i know you already addressed nicki minaj saying the "nappy headed ho" thing once in the past but she's done it again in this "stupid hoe" song / video and i'm getting tired of it, AE. i need guidance..lmao 'cause i'm still not understanding why anyone would think it's cute / funny / at all appropriate to quote don imus with that.
People often think that because a child is a baby, that's the best time to screw up if you're going to screw up, but they don't realize, regardless of how old they are, they are human beings and we retain memories from the womb in actuality. I was missing my bonding time and for the few months before I said he goes where I go, I was missing my beautiful boy develop. He's five now and a mess but we're very close. Thank you again for this video. You made me emotional.
God bless you. I had my son at 19 and I had a lot of hardship. At the time I was also pursuing my music career, bound by a contract and it required me to leave him with family and go out to clubs to sing. I was rolling in at 3 and 4am almost every night and I had to just be real with myself and get real with them. My baby HAD to come first. I wasn't putting him to bed or waking up with him and that wasn't fair to him. It didn't last very long to say the least but it lasted long enough.
The eyes NEVER lie and I saw your truth...my son is 5 had him at 19. He is my world and my sacrifices have been great. These words are necessary thanks for sharing!
Your easily likeable and easily believable........... love all the effort u put into guide others.U is a Teacher,a friend,a mother,a sister and all those nice things...One Love :)
I just found out last Wednesday that my 18yr old daughter is pregnant and I told her this same thing. Guurl I turned this video all the way up so she could hear it in her room bcuz it's not cute or glamorous, and definitely not "Exciting" like she says. Thanks girl!
I really commend you for making this video. I do tend to turn my head and take a lingering look whenever I see a seemingly teenage mom walking with her children and of course most of the time her mom is by her side too because she can't do it alone! I am not a teenage mom, I am 36 in fact, single with two children and my youngest is 2 years old. Even at this age, its extremely difficult as I still try to find my footing in life. Thumbs up to you!
Thats the sign of a fighter! (Knowing that you have struggled and endured so much; still alive to say Yes, I made it) And..You made it, but your not done yet. There's a lot more chapters to fill. I can see you doing so many things. Want to say thank you for being REAL, open, doing a wonderful job as a YTuber & Mother, and for just you being you.
Thanks AfricanExport, I've watched quite a few of your videos, but was always wondering about the woman behind the camera, I'm sure you have old videos where you talk about that, but this is really good to hear, great advice, and very real.
Amen, if I could go back I would have made better choices. I agree it is all about accountability my two daughters have had to endure struggles with me that they didn't have too. I must stay they have been my motivation to become a better me. I am thankful for the trails of being a teen mom, but its something I would never want to go through again.Today's young women treat these babies like a designer hand bag "BabyGucci". I pray your vids really makes a difference to someones life.
owww AE u made me cry and believe me, i have not cried in years. Thank u for being real to us and i love u for that, continue to keep ur head up and God will help u through. kisses and blessings from all the way from the netherlands!!!
Thank You for being so transparent, I knew you were real the moment I saw your first video. Keep doing what your doing and God will continue to bless you and your family :) hugs
You're so right, AE. I'm about to be 23 years old and I couldn't imagine being a single/teen age mother. Shout out to those who do it and do it well but I'm glad I never got caught up in that situation. As a mother, your life is over, your life is your child....if you're a good mother.
I love these real talk videos; keep them coming!!!
I've checked out your videos on and off for a few months, but this video right here made me hit the subscribe button. Real people sharing real experiences, that's what it's all about.
OMG, I have a new found respect for you. To make a long story short, I started watching because of natural hair, but also because you give me so much courage with your natural beauty and accepting your darker skin. But then to know you are a teenage mom as well and dealt with domestic violence. My story all over again. You are an inspiration to me. Thank you.
This is some gospel truth here. Thank you. I had my son as 18. I had not even officially graduated high school yet. I was ashamed and disappointed in myself. I had to put everything else aside and put my energy into doing the best I could with what I had for him. My family was okay, but far from unconditionally loving and supportive. I'll do whatever I can to keep my own children from going through the experience.
THANK U FOR THIS.....AND NO OFFENSE HELL WITH HAIR AND MAKEUP AND SHIT WE NEED THIS STRAIGHT FROM THE HIP TYPE STUFF AND MAYBE THE GENERATIONS BEHIND US WON'T FOLLOW IN SUM OF OUR FOOTSTEPS....BECAUSE LIFE IS DEEP BABY AND YOU HAVE TO BE A STRONG SUMBODY TO MAKE IT THRU ESPECIALLY MENTALLY!!!!.....LUV THIS AND THANK YOU AND I ALSO POSTED FOR MY NEPHEWS SO THEY CAN ALSO LEARN TO KEEP THEIR DICKS IN THEIR PANTS IF THEY ARE NOT READY!!!
FIRST OF ALL HONEY I STOOD UP IN CLAPPED FOR THIS ONE AND I'M ALSO A NEW SUBSCRIBER BECAUSE OF IT.....I WASN'T A TEENAGE MOTHER AND I HAD MY 1ST SON AT 24 BUT CAN I TELL U THAT EVEN AT THAT AGE LIFE THREW ME A CURVE BALL THAT I COULDN'T EVEN HANDLE SO I CAN'T IMAGINE A YOUNGER MIND....FEEL ME...AND THIS RAW UNCUT IS WHAT SUM OF YOUNG WOMEN NEED REAL SHIT AND IF WHAT U SAY HURT WELL BABY IT MUST HAVE SUM TRUTH TO IT...IS WHAT MY MOM ALWAYS TOLD ME....AND I'VE POSTED IT TO FACEBOOK...FOR MY NIECES
This is wat i have been missing from ur channel..the raw realness..not sayin u havent been keepin it real..but i missed tht 100% raw real..i can tell this topic really hits home 4 u cuz i c so much emotion in ur face
Girl I subbed to you back then for your debates and discussions! the wig and natural stuff are pretty recent, so trust we know what the core of the 'realest channel' is , all the rest is just for entertainment. There is so much more about you we can't wait to discover! much love xx
Toni Morrison on Teenage Pregnacy: The child's not going to hurt them. Of course, it is absolutely time consuming. But who cares about the schedule? What is this business that you have to finish school at 18? They're not babies. We have decided that puberty extends to what -- 30? When do people stop being kids? The body is ready to have babies, that's why they are in a passion to do it. Nature wants it done then, when the body can handle it, not after 40, when the income can handle it.
It is not easy being a young mother!! I still can not believe that MTV has the audacity to make a show about being a teen mom, like it's great you get to be on T.V.!!! They don't show how much day care cost, or how you have to go without food for yourself so that you can feed that child. Being a parent is a lot of sacrifice hell it's all sacrifice!
I slightly disagree because I was a teenage mother & it was not hard. It is a mindset, just like at any age. I still went to prom, went to college, got a fantastic job, & lived out all my dreams (still am). I don't see how a child changes one's life so drastically, women used to have children at much younger ages & did more than most of us. I think it depends on how a person handles situations and plans things. For me being a teenage mother was great because it set my on my true path faster.
@babyshuf2 quick question, did u have a support system, people who were around to take care of your child when you went to prom, college etc.? Or did you hire a nanny? in which case you have the financial means. Most teenage mothers dont have all that, your case may be different but saying its 'not hard' is a far stretch! im african and yes my grandmothers used to have children at younger age, thats cause they married at younger age! they had a home and family. Priorities werent the same then!
@pf243: To answer your question, I had a single mother but I did not rely on her to keep my son. I have an amazing family but I was extremely indepedent. When I went to prom my mom kept my son for 2 hours. I worked 2 jobs my senior yr in H.S. & went to college part-time. When I left off for college, my son came WITH me. I got government assistance but only used it as a launching pad. Son went to daycare while I went to school. I budgeted money really well.
@pf243: Like I said it is a mindset. Having a child at 40 can be hard for some people. Every person is different so the experience will be different. I started working at 14 yo b/c I wanted my own stuff so when a child came along it was not a big transition to feed another mouth b/c I had been feeding my own. Everything I got & have I'm proud to say I earned on my own. Yes, my family is proud of me and love me but I did not depend on them. I took responsibility for myself & child.
@pf243: Yes, I had the financial means b/c I made the financial means. I was happy to be raising another person. When I told my mom she was happy and told me "You have a good head on your shoulder and I know you will take care of the baby and do well". People go through tougher things than having a baby such as death, cancer & other illnesses. Having my son made me better & stronger & gave me even more a vision that I will always plan for. I hope that answered your questions. God Bless!
@babyshuf2 ''I hope That answered your questions'' ? This is not a contest for who has the right answers, this is a video thats showin the REALITIES of being a single mother. Congratulations to you then, aparently its all smooth on your side... but you are amongst the very rare ones; again its far from the same for every1. Listening to you its like its all breeze and these ladies arent doin it right. Even the best of us cant seem to get our head outta the water no matter the effort,
@pf243: Well, you did ask me those questions so I was just responding. Everybodies reality is different. I'm not implying anything about anyone...this is just my reality.
@babyshuf2 cause we just dont know where to start! so what about a pregnant teen?! ''its a mindset''? we're all different with different sensibilites, no one reacts the same to a situation, or knows what is ahead. The basis of this video is: having a baby young is not a fatality, but its HARD! and the road to getting to stability is full of bumps. And if you think it all resumes to a mindset then your delusional.
@pf243: No need in calling anyone delusional. You seem to be taking offense. I lived this so it is not delusional...it is what actually happened and how I actually feel so how is that delusional...unless I had delusions of my life...lol. For ME, it was not hard. That is my truthful honest opinion. So why should it matter to anyone else. For me, it was a mindset. Changing my thoughts about the situation and acting on it. Like I said, Everybody is different.
@babyshuf2 ''I made the financial means''? sweety no ones tryin to sleep at home until the baby comes, regular folk cant even seem to get a job that easily let alon a pregnant teen. Even so it would still be a part-time student position (since you gotta study) and we all know working at mcdonalds(example) wont take you very far or cover full baby expense. Once again there is no 'ideal one way' to do this, the go-to-school-get a job-manage-your-timetable scheme is not as easy as it seems.
@pf243: I worked 2 jobs before I was pregnant. I worked 2 part-time jobs (= full-time) & got out of school early b/c I finished my H.S. credits early. Worked at One Price clothing and Wendy's. Like I said, I recieved goverment assitances as well. It was easy for me because I enjoyed it & saw it as a life challenge. Shopped cheap/went for sales. I covered my babies expenses & my own. Everybody is different. My plans for myself did not change just b/c I had a child, just how I got to them.
@babyshuf2 Again you seem to been very lucky, with everything going right and your family by your side being happy for you, I wish it was the same for all. FYI you'd be surprised about stats, ther are probably more teen pregnant woman in a year than cancer patients. In S.Africa the number 1 death cause is car accidents, and the 2nd is AIDS ( 0_0)....yea..if you get this than you probably know what im tryin to say. Teen pregnancy is a spreading an higher than ever....and it has got to stop.
@pf243: I don't believe in luck but I do feel blessed. In my local community I help pregnant teens & single mothers to problem solve & find resources & I'm a RN so I know the stats. I was a teen mother so I know what is like but once it happens, it is about finding solutions & continuing on with a better life. I'm not an advocate for teen pregnancy or any other kind of pregnancy. To each persons own. I was just sharing my opinion, just like everyone else who commented. God Bless!
I agree with u 100% i was 18, graduated in June and had my daughter in July and didn't have time to finish being a kid. Now I'm teaching my daughter to stay a teen, have ur freedom has long has u can cause raising a kid at a young age is no joke. Shout our to all the women that had their kids young n learn ur lesson and teach the next generation
Thank-you for saying this loud and clear! I am 40, had my son at 21 while I was at Unuversity, zero contribution from the father. It was hard, but I tried to make the best out if a bad situation and I was lucky to have a very supportive family. I was so grateful, however the experience made me very wary about having more children. My son is now 19, he is working and very independent and happy. And my message to him is that if he gets a girl pregnant, he is automatically responsible. We talk abo
I was a teenage mom (19) and it was NOT the business! I definitely wish I would have finished college and traveled to Europe so I can tell my little one about how it is.
even with a father being a teen parent is hard. in society today most folks ain't ready 2 b responsible 4 another persons life at fourteen thru twenty years old.
Im a teen mom i got pregnant at 16 and had my baby girl at 17..i become a single parent when my baby father dead when she was 2 month and i total agree with what you saying some of they young girl like myself and younger then me think it cute to get preggo and they get preggo again right after the first baby i guess they think its a fashion but its not thank you for this video and your story...
AE thank you for making this video. I was a teenage mom and I totally agree with you. I love my three kids. If I had it to do all again, I would have made some differrent choices. I just had a conversation with my daughter the other day about being a single parent. If a person can make a choice not to be one, it is better not to be one. It was a struggle raising my children without support from their father. It has affected me and them. Thank you again for uploading.
ae your true followers appreciate these type of videos, and i hope you get back into your real talk you use to do. I mean the wigs are cute but you know we not about to buy 200 dollar wigs, so just get back to you we love it
@blkbarbied Its all me, Im glad that I can be more dimensional than beauty only. Thanks for watching. You would be surprised how many people buy $200 wigs.
@AFRICANEXPORT when you start losing hair, a $200.00 wig seems more reasonable then when you have a full head of hair all your own. (I mean own without having to go buy and get a receipt). It's amazing how health issues change your perspective on things.
I feel ya on this one. I had two kids by the time I was 21 years old. I was determined not to make matters worse by not doing something with my life. Unfortunately, a lot of these young people don't feel the same way. I remember hanging my head when I had to tell my family I was pregnant...not today, they walk around like it's a badge of honor. Although I know I did the best I could raising my kids....I realize I would never choose that same path today. It's just not good enough.
It is about time someone addressed that stupid MTV show TEEN MOM. Because so many people watch it, its like saying society accepts this as the norm now. What they don't show is the checks they pay these people, which means they can pay someone else to watch their child and still have some sort of life. I had my first child at age 23 and that was still way too young!!!!
I agree 100%! I had my daughters when I was 17&18 y/o. These young people think they're doing ok now, but in the future the will regret the fact they 9 times outta 10 wont be knowledgable enoughto save for their child's future or have the extra money to have their child in extacurricular activities b/c they dont yet have a college education and are barely making it. Not to mention being another statistic! Of course Im 30 now and had to wait till they were older to grad. college but I would
I agree 100% they dont get it. I have two sons (1) 17 (1) 20 and I just look around and see these young girls pushing these strollers and say damn what happen to graduating without the pressure of being a parent, what happened to traveling and enjoying life first then family second with a man whom is worthy of being called daddy. I been through it, it i definitely life changing. It like its the norm now. They act like its suppose to happen this way and no its about living life to the fullest.
I was out shopping today and I overheard this older couple arguing about whether or not they should take in a grandchild..the husband was against it and the wife was trying to convince him otherwise...why should they have to concern themselves with that? We've gotta handle our business...and that includes doing right by our kids...thank you for sharing a bit of your life's journey...(((HUGS)))
Thank you, this was very touching and although this video doesn't apply to me, my sister is in a similar situation and I will be sending her this link. Thank you again xoxo
Thank you for making this vid, when i was 18 I had my son it was very hard going to school working and not to mention the emotional part my sons father and I worked hard on our relationship and our parenting we have been together 10 years and have been married for 3 years this march, God blessed me with a wonderful man but his kind are going extinct. if I could advice young girls I would say wait till you have a career and have fun travel the world then think about babys.
im 17 and def got the message, some girls i know are pregnant and terrified. that won't ever happen to me, i just want to become someone really important and live life to the fullest. show people what black girls can achieve.
@Dafabulousm0niqu3 Live your life because it moves quickly once your out of school. I felt like I was just 17 and now I'm 38. I lived a rough life growing up on the streets in Chicago but God bless me in that I never got pregnant. I went into the Navy travel the world met wonderful people and just in general lived life. Do you and don't ever let some slick talking person make you go against your own grain...never!
its defiantly a struggle i am a product of a teenage parent my mother had me at 16 my brother at 15. my father was abusive hes in jail my mother made the decision to keep him out her life and continued to live her teenage life no parent life teenage having friends over party smoke everything i eneded up leaving her and living with my grandparents that was my decision age 7 i dont respect mother i just deal with her there. teenage pregnancy is horrible .im 19 now i college living my life
Thank you so much for talking about this. So many people confuse telling the truth with attempting to shame people when its not the same thing at all. God bless you.
I haven't seen a video this good in a long time!! Great, I'm 21 had my son at 20 and not with his real father. I'm married now but I would wish my son came later down the line and same person, but I still love him. I wish moms would see that it's not all golden.
I really love this video, This video is saying it's ok you made a few mistakes in life (not calling anyone's child a mistake, God's hands were there), but now you know better so do better. Be the best parent you can possibly be. God is definitely there to help you along the way. Thanks for sharing.
See also (some) families makes the Teenage mom think it is ok by giving her all the attention in the world buying them stuff for the baby taking care of her and the baby... See this need the change cuz 1 yu make the teenage mom think having kids is ok and 2 you make the other teenage girls in the family who don't have kids want one because the one with the baby is getting all the attention. We have to speak to the teens and their families. Having kids young is just not cool and family need to g
@dedelite777, that's the nail on the head. I think people expect nothing but the best from BW and excuse careless behavior from BM. I've said it a million times...the women who marry my sons will thank me.
Excellent video and message. It's not just single teenage mothers who need to get it together, there are grown ass single mothers who act like teenagers that need to hear your message as well. The difference is that single grown women have kids thinking their ready for single parenting then realizing they are not mentally ready for the challenge.
Girl now that was real talk. i have a 14 year old daughter and i preach this subject to her mostly every chance i get. i keep it real about sex dating girlfriends drugs drinking,no topic is off limits. i will not sugar coat anything.lol
I was a "married" teenage parent. My husband and I had out first @ 19, we are both now 23 & on baby number 2. We're very good parents & consider ourselves to be good ppl (this much is true)! However, even w/ us being "married" having taken on such huge responsibilities @ a young age has taken its toll. The hardest thing has got to be trying to form a union w/ one another when we really haven't had the opportunity to discover OURSELVES independently!
I agree to a point...some females get married @ a young age so I wouldn't put an age on having a baby. Babies aren't the problem-having them in broken families is a big issue! I don't think its a girl thing. Its also a male thing as well. Populate the earth and be fruitful just do it in a convenant relationship.
Really appreciate your honesty. I was a mom at 21 and even though I wasnt a teenager I still feel like I was fairly young. I was a single mom and definately experienced some of the feelings you have. I have since matured alot..Im now 36 with 3 kids, one on the way and happily married. I encourage my daughter's to hear and listen to my experience so they wont make the same mistakes I did.. but keep doing what you're doing.. so many young girls are blinded to this reality!
BW are kicked in the face from every angle of life. I think many r looking for that perfect love and in the interim they forget to love themselves. It's important that when we mentor about a BW's struggles we remember to tell them we love them. My heart breaks for us all.
I wish I could go back and do things again not because I wish I could hang out and have fun, cause if it wasn't for my kids I would probably be locked up right now. My kids gave me focus and a reason to do right. But I at how we are living now and would do anything to make there lives easier. My mother was an adult when she had me and I watched first hand how hard things got when her and my father slit up. I don't know what made me think I could do it at 18 if she could barely do it at 30.
got married at 17 had my child at 18. Hasn't been easy, but raising children is never easy. Glad to see you keepin it real:) I love this channel and your persona:)
Great video can definitely relate to being a young mother and not being able to go out in my twenties. I struggled a lot and life was hard for me and my children. I would have changed most of the decisions I made then. I love the fact that your letting us see the emotional side thank you.
I made a promise when I was younger not to become a single mother, because of the things I've seen and knew. Over the years, people tried to make it seem that I was wrong, because I didn't want to have a child, just to have one. Now I'm forty, and I know that I won't probably have any kids, but I don't regret my decision. I'm glad that folks like you AE are speaking the truth.
This is because about 4 years ago,, my mom found out that my stepdad was malesting me,, from 6-12 he was.. I was to scared to tell anyone cuz he would threaten them.. I had to learn about sex A LOT. Earlier than wat i shld of.. But my mom is a great mom... U make really good point though... I understand wat u were saying:)
I dont wanna sound like im bashing cuz im not. I agree. Most teen moms ard sucky parents. But not all. Im very very mature 4 my age, i dont party i dont go out, me and my boyfriend live pretty boring lives. Soo not much of a change lol i jus dnt wanf all the teen or single moms to be categorized as bad parents all together.. My moms a single mom.
I kno a lot of teen moms who dnt act like moms. But u cant say that all moms that are teens are bad moms. Yes we both kno we fucked up, but at least we were raking precautions.. Unlike all the girls pregnant where i live. We kno its gonna b hard but, we kno we have each other. Yes if we persue our dreams, we can do it,, its jus gonna b a lit harder..
I agree with tour message but at the same time, im 16 and 23weeks pregnant. I was on birth control w/ the shot and we used a condom, to me,, if god didnt want me to have a baby, he wouldnt give me one but unlike most stories, me and the father are still together and happy.
@AustinsBabyGirl0415 You are doing yourself a disservice by excusing your actions by way of 'God's will'. God forbids sex before marriage and you deviated from that. He did not give you a child, you made that happen all on your own. C'mon sister, you know this....We have free will, but trust, he is not happy about what you've done. Junkies leave newborns for dead everyday, but I suppose they were impregnated because that's what God wanted... smh. Please don't confuse yourself.
I was going on 23 when I had my first child, I love my kids and am grateful for them, but I do mourn my lost time for myself, I had no intentions on having children before 30. Your twenties are for you. We have to reach out to our young sisters, I applaud you for doing that. We really have to go deeper than just explaining the mechanics of sexual activity.
AE. OMG I had to get out my bed an hour early to comment on this. I am 26 with a 10 yr old daughter. I too would do things differently. Her father passed when i was still pregnant. I used to do speaches about the importance of family. I don't blame anyone it was my choices but mothers need to understand what they are teaching their daughters. Talk to them about sex the myths protection and the works. spend time with your daughters and sons too. let them know they are loved and whats out there.
Married at 20 sometimes I am very depressed and other times grateful for my family no matter how they got here I truly love young people and when they listen I share my story sorry for the long posts I guess I needed that
Needless to say my always having a shadow made me grow up we grew up together but I luv her dearly we have sister luv and mother daughter I feel I didn't have my teen years and that I regret but i agree its not all peaches and cream my family and friends labled me as a fast girl so I was very lonely her sperm donor NEVER did much for her I could go on and on about my life I do have 2 sons 19,17 I have been married for 24 years I feel like everything in my life happened fast first child 14 marri
Wow. That's me a mom at 14 I was not told about birth control my mother felt talking about sex with me would make me want to do it actually not talking to me made me stupid it was my first time and it was come to find out I was a beat among guys in the neighborhood I can't begin to type everything do I regret it yes I am 43 my daughter is 29 and I have 3 grandchildren my daughter was NOT a teenage mother I was determined she wound not be she had her first child at 21 she graduated high school
Love how u managed to rise above all, made urself better, healed urself, turned the negative to a positive. u are a true inspiration, ur story is a story of many black women but only a few turn the situation around. Thank u for sharing ur world and ur wisdom with us. Salute!
"The selfishness of a young mother supersedes being a quality parent . . ."
THIS is the realest ish I've heard on the yt in quite sometime. My cousin had children as a teen and it broke my heart to hear the way she would go on and on about where she was going and what her next "hustle" was going to be, not even realizing that her daughter couldn't even find the state she lives in on map at 6 years old. My aunts intervened but we have got to stop this 'teen mom/single mother badge of honor'.
when you started getting teary eyed but maintained to hold it back, there went the water works for me! I was not a teenage mom but i am a single mom & thankfully i don't go thru the typical things most single moms/dads go thru; i applaud those single moms teenage or otherwise who do take care of business without help from the other parent or the government! thank you for another informative video
This video is so true. Being a single mother when I was sixteen sure as heck wasnt cute so why would it be cute now. These lil young ladies need to grow up and stop thinking getting pregnant is so cute because it's not....
Vanisha, you had me crying in this video...i don't have Kids personally but i have family members that are going through the struggle...if EVER you need someone to talk to im here~
I really truly enjoyed this video. because I was discussing this once with some women, and I was called all kinds of names. thank you for speaking the truth.
I love you for this. I'm dealing with the poor parenting of my niece's mom and possible physical and verbal abuse my niece endures because her mother does not make wise choices. I agree being a teen parent is not cute and does not make you grown because you can carry a baby. I first got pregnant at 18 and had an abortion because I knew I could not handle it. I finished college with two degrees, got married, got a job and I am preggers with my second child. Having my first was at the right time
We, I feel aren't honest with ourselves. We think about it, but won't say it out loud. You did! Its not a joke. I was 19 and i would have done many things differently to better my life and be a wiser mom. Its hard out there and to think young girls PLAN to have babies now. Low self-esteem and little knowledge. We all make mistakes, but it helps to be guided, to teach about self-respect and give them something to look forward to.

He has uncle and cousins (male influences) and now my husband. I love my son to DEATH, but in reality I know my life would have been different if I chose to wait and there were struggles because i did not! Great vid.

"I think most people 4 forget that pregnancy is inevitable when havin sex."
that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard
That statement completely frees the girl from any responsibility over controlling her body
Young women need to stop making it seem like they don't know how to have sex with out getting pregnant
there are plenty of women who have sex into their thirties with out getting pregnant

For me being a teenage mother was great because it set my on my true path faster.
babyshuf2 1 month ago
@babyshuf2 quick question, did u have a support system, people who were around to take care of your child when you went to prom, college etc.? Or did you hire a nanny? in which case you have the financial means. Most teenage mothers dont have all that, your case may be different but saying its 'not hard' is a far stretch! im african and yes my grandmothers used to have children at younger age, thats cause they married at younger age! they had a home and family. Priorities werent the same then!
pf243 1 month ago
@pf243: To answer your question, I had a single mother but I did not rely on her to keep my son. I have an amazing family but I was extremely indepedent. When I went to prom my mom kept my son for 2 hours. I worked 2 jobs my senior yr in H.S. & went to college part-time. When I left off for college, my son came WITH me. I got government assistance but only used it as a launching pad. Son went to daycare while I went to school. I budgeted money really well.
babyshuf2 4 weeks ago
@pf243: Like I said it is a mindset. Having a child at 40 can be hard for some people. Every person is different so the experience will be different. I started working at 14 yo b/c I wanted my own stuff so when a child came along it was not a big transition to feed another mouth b/c I had been feeding my own. Everything I got & have I'm proud to say I earned on my own. Yes, my family is proud of me and love me but I did not depend on them. I took responsibility for myself & child.
babyshuf2 4 weeks ago
@pf243: Yes, I had the financial means b/c I made the financial means. I was happy to be raising another person. When I told my mom she was happy and told me "You have a good head on your shoulder and I know you will take care of the baby and do well". People go through tougher things than having a baby such as death, cancer & other illnesses. Having my son made me better & stronger & gave me even more a vision that I will always plan for. I hope that answered your questions. God Bless!
babyshuf2 4 weeks ago
@babyshuf2 ''I hope That answered your questions'' ? This is not a contest for who has the right answers, this is a video thats showin the REALITIES of being a single mother. Congratulations to you then, aparently its all smooth on your side... but you are amongst the very rare ones; again its far from the same for every1. Listening to you its like its all breeze and these ladies arent doin it right. Even the best of us cant seem to get our head outta the water no matter the effort,
pf243 4 weeks ago
@pf243: Well, you did ask me those questions so I was just responding. Everybodies reality is different. I'm not implying anything about anyone...this is just my reality.
babyshuf2 4 weeks ago
@babyshuf2 cause we just dont know where to start! so what about a pregnant teen?! ''its a mindset''? we're all different with different sensibilites, no one reacts the same to a situation, or knows what is ahead. The basis of this video is: having a baby young is not a fatality, but its HARD! and the road to getting to stability is full of bumps. And if you think it all resumes to a mindset then your delusional.
pf243 4 weeks ago
@pf243: No need in calling anyone delusional. You seem to be taking offense. I lived this so it is not delusional...it is what actually happened and how I actually feel so how is that delusional...unless I had delusions of my life...lol. For ME, it was not hard. That is my truthful honest opinion. So why should it matter to anyone else. For me, it was a mindset. Changing my thoughts about the situation and acting on it. Like I said, Everybody is different.
babyshuf2 4 weeks ago
@babyshuf2 ''I made the financial means''? sweety no ones tryin to sleep at home until the baby comes, regular folk cant even seem to get a job that easily let alon a pregnant teen. Even so it would still be a part-time student position (since you gotta study) and we all know working at mcdonalds(example) wont take you very far or cover full baby expense. Once again there is no 'ideal one way' to do this, the go-to-school-get a job-manage-your-timetable scheme is not as easy as it seems.
pf243 4 weeks ago
@pf243: I worked 2 jobs before I was pregnant. I worked 2 part-time jobs (= full-time) & got out of school early b/c I finished my H.S. credits early. Worked at One Price clothing and Wendy's. Like I said, I recieved goverment assitances as well. It was easy for me because I enjoyed it & saw it as a life challenge. Shopped cheap/went for sales. I covered my babies expenses & my own. Everybody is different. My plans for myself did not change just b/c I had a child, just how I got to them.
babyshuf2 4 weeks ago
@babyshuf2 Again you seem to been very lucky, with everything going right and your family by your side being happy for you, I wish it was the same for all. FYI you'd be surprised about stats, ther are probably more teen pregnant woman in a year than cancer patients. In S.Africa the number 1 death cause is car accidents, and the 2nd is AIDS ( 0_0)....yea..if you get this than you probably know what im tryin to say. Teen pregnancy is a spreading an higher than ever....and it has got to stop.
pf243 4 weeks ago
@pf243: I don't believe in luck but I do feel blessed. In my local community I help pregnant teens & single mothers to problem solve & find resources & I'm a RN so I know the stats. I was a teen mother so I know what is like but once it happens, it is about finding solutions & continuing on with a better life. I'm not an advocate for teen pregnancy or any other kind of pregnancy. To each persons own. I was just sharing my opinion, just like everyone else who commented. God Bless!

@blkbarbied Its all me, Im glad that I can be more dimensional than beauty only. Thanks for watching. You would be surprised how many people buy $200 wigs.
AFRICANEXPORT 1 month ago 12

Of course Im 30 now and had to wait till they were older to grad. college but I would
BRandall82 1 month ago

I've said it a million times...the women who marry my sons will thank me.
supertoshaful 1 month ago
Excellent video and message. It's not just single teenage mothers who need to get it together, there are grown ass single mothers who act like teenagers that need to hear your message as well. The difference is that single grown women have kids thinking their ready for single parenting then realizing they are not mentally ready for the challenge.

AustinsBabyGirl0415 1 month ago
I kno a lot of teen moms who dnt act like moms. But u cant say that all moms that are teens are bad moms. Yes we both kno we fucked up, but at least we were raking precautions.. Unlike all the girls pregnant where i live. We kno its gonna b hard but, we kno we have each other. Yes if we persue our dreams, we can do it,, its jus gonna b a lit harder..
AustinsBabyGirl0415 1 month ago
I agree with tour message but at the same time, im 16 and 23weeks pregnant. I was on birth control w/ the shot and we used a condom, to me,, if god didnt want me to have a baby, he wouldnt give me one but unlike most stories, me and the father are still together and happy.
AustinsBabyGirl0415 1 month ago
