In about 1981, my parents packed my little sister and I into the family van, and we drove around the northwest during summer vacation. Kerry never left the van without the tape recorder, which played Strawberry Shortcake for 1000+ miles. Sitting bored in the back of the car, we sang all the songs and played different parts. I still know every single word.

I was bored,so I just looked this up,because I honestly couldn't think of anything else to do. It's actually not that bad,considering how boring children's cartoons can be to older audiences at least newer ones. However didn't anyone else feel the whole "berry" thing is pushed way to much?

One of the first VHS tapes I remember renting had random Strawberry Shortcake episodes on it. I also remember renting tapes of Rainbow Brite, My Little Pony, Care Bears and The Popples. What a coincidence that those shows now have crappy remakes that completely rape the warmth and charm of the originals.

I will never forget the Pieman's "Ya-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta, ta-ta-ta-ta!" bit.

I saw tis show when I was a baby I think 8yrs old. Istill believe that the bad guy's name was WAY tooo long for title. lol. Also having the characters name as a berry was stupid tho. They shouldve named it like BerryBlue BerryRed BerryYellow etc similar to My Little Pony. But yeah I like MLP too when I was little. Then the remake they made Strawberry bigger more like 10yrs old type kid.

This show rocks! Still, though, you'd think that the sun could have given her the wish a little sooner. She could have wished the water away, after all. But no - Mr. Choragos just hangs out and waits for things to get worse before he comes jumping in.

I love how Mr. Sun acts as a Choragos (Chorus leader) of Ancient Greek theatre throughout the show and, by extension, the tree army here is sort of like his Chorus. It's certainly an original concept even for an 80's cartoon. I loved every minute of it and the ending song was precious. I just wish they could've reformed the Pieman one more time at the end of the show because it was cute seeing them all sing together. :)

Jeez, the Pieman really steals the show in these cartoons. Its ALL about the Pieman. You cant fight him & you cant deny him, all ya can do is stand back & marvel as he does his peculiar purple thing!

He actually EXPLAINS that in the next episode. At one moment in the next episode, Strawberry Shortcake shouts at him in dismay, "Purple Pieman, I thought you REFORMED!" The Pieman responds that he tried to reform, but his "evil conscience" wouldn't let him!
