@cakebrain My mate's 7/14 38 would give your 9f and that 38 a run for your money haha. Now I might look at castings for a 5' 38 or 35

@3801Catcher
I doubt that your mates 7 1/4" 38 would hive Ray's 5" 38 a run for it's money, Ray builds the best locomotives around!!

jesus how much that cost
chockrock69 3 years ago
About a year and a half of his time...?
And nobody builds them faster than Ray.

Another ripper, Ray!

Pity it hasn't got Stephensons gear to get rid of those pesky torque peaks. Those 38's wheelslipped themselves silly with that useless Walschearts eh herb.

Well, sognol, I happen to know that Ray Lee (the builder of the 5" gauge 3803) doesn't give his engines ANY Lead, so the problem isn't there?
Tricky, eh?
Wot's Lead for, in an engine with passages about 1.1/4" long...apart from making a nuisance of itself?
Oh, by the way...see how she pulls like an ox?
Where do you think we learnt all this stuff?
It was all kicked to death, on the NSWGR (and the US) by about 1930?
do you know ray lee could you ask him how much eythor that engine or another 38 would cost i dont have the money but DAMN I WANT ON :(

Yes, I know Ray.
I can ask him.
If he builds another one like that 38, you'll love it!
At the moment, he's building a Vic A2 (4-6-0), and he wants it to peform AS WELL AS that 38!
He'll probaly do it, too!
He's a friggin' genius!
torque peaks?

@andyg3
Thatr engine has no un-necessarily imposed torque peaks, as it has NO lead.
