@ieatfirepies Well the 6870 is slightly faster (maybe 5% or so), but it's up to you. I doubt you'll notice a difference between the two cards. I like ATi, so I went with the 6870 and I'm extremely impressed.

how are you getting that frame rate. I have 1090t, 700w corsair, seagate barracud 7200rpm, Sapphire HD 6870 stock 8GB ram(1333) when I play it at 1080p high-ultra i get 30-50 fps unstable... what the hell am I doing wrong...

@DaSurot Well, you can see my settings at 0:17. I have AA disabled and have textures on high instead of Ultra (due to only 1GB on card). You should get around the same frames as me (BF3 barely takes advantage of any more than 3 cores). Maybe you have a load of background apps running? Hard to say...

@d4v1broilo It's because Ultra textures require more than 1GB of ram on your 6870. You need to put everything to Ultra except textures, those need to be on high. There is no noticable diference between high/ultra textures. I had the exact same issue as you. This will fix your problem.

@SrFulanoTal No you don't? VRAM doesn't effect how fast the graphics are processed (leading to fps) it just allows the card to store more data so it doesnt lead to stuttering or frame drop (say your playing on 2 monitors)

By the way i did similar build for my friend with the same gpu you have except the cpu, he bought a phenom ii x4 965t. So this video helps a lot because i wanted to know the frame rates my bud would be getting.

@GJSpot Can't go wrong with GTX 460s! Yeah, for the price of this setup ($550) you can't go wrong! There isn't a single game that I can't max out at 1920X1080. Anti-aliasing varies in some games, but this rig is a beast. Your friend should be happy.

you need to lower your setting to get atleast 80-100fps for the game to be properly playable.

normally I'd say that 60fps is enough for most games but _not_ for BF3.

get a second 6870 for CF as I did, almost doubles your fps for a very low price.

@WLOfails It's because I captured it with a camera. I did this to show the actual FPS up in the corner without a recording program like FRAPS eating up the FPS. Go for the 6870, you'll be surprised at how fast it is. This is 1920X1080, and I'm getting around 45FPS on all Ultra (high textures) and 2X AA. I get even more on different maps.

@chadou17 I tried Ultra textures, but after about 15 minutes it starts to stutter badly due to only having 1GB vram while BF3 needs 1.3GB for Ultra textures. There is no noticeable difference.
