I learned this song at 2 or 3 years old from a man in Coolea, Co. Cork. It really brought back memories, as I probably haven't heard it in over 50 years. Thank you.
@helloman1976 guess your to stupid to know where the mute key is or shut down your computer why not just stick a pen in my ear guess you didnt go in deep enough thats something a 5 year old might do

Christ, this is like a bad spoof from Father Ted or something. No wonder people have stereotypical preconceptions of Ireland with leprechaun twaddle like this being made. Furthermore, Glenswilly is the most depressing hole I've ever had the misfortune to be in, why someone would waste time and effort dedicating a whole video to it is beyond me...
janey macks, yer right U2irishband. What is that "plotach" doing at all, at all.? Firsst I thought he was spread'n cut( wet) turf. Now I agree he is making ' a reek' of dried turf. He'd be faster throw'n it alright. Shure lishen to me this,his 'oul lad is bigger amadain not to stop him washntn time!!
his rolling that contrapion about 2 yards when a good lad would throw the sods on top of the pile another one load up the ould ass and get it home before the nite id be down on top of us
exactly like Mayo fifty years ago, but we had an ass and cart and brought the turf out to the roadside - and the song brings back memories of Tooreen and Ballyhaunis - gura mile maith agat
geeeze, so much for flotation tyres ,,, is that a bicycle wheel on the bog barrow? Donegal did'nt have the "appliance of scence" like 'the Wessst' using low ground pressure- wide wooden wheels!!
I love my traditional irish music like the one here. But what's happened to some I've saved like The Foxhunter Reel(1975), Buion Cheoil Learphoil Ceili Band, the Fleadh Cheoil at Bunclody, Co. Wexford in 1963 and the Irish dancing there, too? The videos are not available, it says. Why? Who took them away? Does anyone know anything, where I can find said videos? This shouldn't happen on You Tube, methinks.

That young fella should be bending his knees when he's lifting. €40 on a decent wheelbarrow wouldn't kill them either.
hardcase788 2 years ago
If U knew anything about the bog you would,nt bring your €40 barrow there sir , just goes to show what u do know
buyerbill2 2 years ago
@hardcase788 maybe it should occur to ye ,that different areas have differnt wheel-barrows and of the era also...
Asiaticlily11 2 years ago
@buyerbill2: I could be an expert on 'bogs' for all you know.
@Asiaticlily11: It's called 'Bog-Humour', relax.

That was hard waasn't it, putting coal on the fire in the old days. I hope you remember this video when you turn the gas fire on.
That was my Mothers favourite song. I know why now, when I listen to the words. Beautiful.
