what's this idiot talking about "cut from the final game" complete horse shit, I remember fighting tonberys left right and center down there 10 years ago... bah!
In the future, people who have been playing FFVII for 136 years say that yes, that would be a lot of damage. And there are still people that believe that Tonberries are in the Whirlwind Maze despite this video / because they misunderstood it ;)
I know I have encountered Tonberries several times in the cave before Sephiroth, and I don't use cheats in FF7. But I only remember them using Everyones Grudge and that killer knife attack.
Is learning Death Gigas a glitch coz both the battles make Vincent learn Death Gigas. Anyway, I can't believe they removed the greatest enemy in Final Fantasy history...
It's not a glitch, even though Vincent didn't kill the enemy in either battle. It's simply a result of me setting his kill counter to 65535 before making the save state I'm using when I record these videos.
I see... Sorry for acting like such a fool. I should have known. I'm glad you replied anyway, it's such an honour to speak to you. (Even thoug I'm not speaking to you)
You should put some more curiosa about the time attack in the video description. After all it is the potentially most powerful attack in the game and perhaps even in the whole series. Unfortunately this enemy attack cant overflow so its still capped at 9999 max damage no matter what, but upper damage limits and overflows put aside it has the strictly mathematical potential to deal 119304628 damage. Yeah, almost 120 million HP :)
Nice. I too am confused as to why he was cut from the game; it seems like a really strange thing to do, especially as the Tonberry is a classic FF enemy and they have a master Tonberry in the Northern Cave (did they mean to cut him out, or was it a mistake?)
The same thing happened with Ho-Chu (AKA Ochu), who only appears in the battle arena as well. I wonder if he can be fought using a Gameshark? He should be somewhere in the Ancient Forest...
Yes, Ho-chu's Ancient Forest battle was left in the game as well, and apart from the fact that you can't get it there's also another thing worth noticing about Ho-chu's battle ;)
I'm certain Brutal was talking about the morph. There's really nothing special about him other than that. I already recorded the battle, but I'll save it for another day.
I was kinda thinking about the fact that it is a non escapable battle, which means it was possibly never meant as a regular random encounter but rather some kind of optional encounter, those big flesh eating plants comes into mind.

@LoftyProduction Your thinking of master tonberry. Trust me, GarlandTheGreat knows exactly what he's talking about.

DUDE I got hit with time damage while I was fighting a Tonberry in the arena one time. It ABSOLUTELY DOMINATED ME. You're right, it's super deadly.

in regard to the description, where it says.. "Normally, Tonberry can only be encountered on the battle arena"
Actually there are a shit load of Tonberrys at the end of FF7 in the cave where you eventually fight Sephiroth.
markvtos 2 years ago
As has been stated, time and again, those are "Master Tonberry"s, not the standard ones as were intended to be found in teh whirlwind maze.

That would be Master Tonberry. He's a common encounter there.

What the fuck was I thinking? I'm ashamed.

That's awesome. It would have been sweet to see almost 120 million damage being dealt.
GarlandTheGreat 3 years ago
What is it that determines the maximum damage? Is it when the clock "resets"?
kamkasil 3 years ago
The maximum damage is determined by the maximum time the clock can handle. That's 4294967295 seconds, which equals to a little more than 136 years.
GarlandTheGreat 3 years ago
I once heard that it would take about 33 years to count to a billion, so that sounds about right^^. Thanks!

thats indeed strange, i never realized the fugly things in northern caves were actually "masters" and not normal tonberries.
