Wel i'm really not sure how to answer that question...because commercial soap isn't soap at all..it's detergent. For regular soap I would say just a couple of tsp. of essential oil per pound should be enough a bit more if you want a stonger scent. I'm not sure about commercial "soap" though the scent or chemicals present may alter the scent. You can rebatch as much as you want since you use water to melt the soap down just don't add too much oil to homemade soap or you may end up with DOS.
i just rebatched my soap. i used commercial soap. i had 2 "tone" bars that smelled great and one "dial bar . i rebatched and i used honey oatmeal and coconut milk. i even used a little bit of body cream that i love -and the texture is great but the smell is way off. it smells like fresh homemade soap without scent.can i rebatch again and if so ,how much oil to a pound of soap?
sorry about that last comment i thought for some reason I was talking about a different soap vid. lol. this one does lather quite well actually. The best lather is my shea butter soap..it has a very luxurious lather. :0)
I know! Talk about frustrating. Someone mentioned to me I could rebatch it again and add more lye and then some olive oil too. That way it wouldn't be too SF and it would add more moisture. I may try that. *sigh* lol
