and he never uses the gretsch at the moment. he has 12-strings on it and says that the strat can be played similar to the the gretsch white falcon.

No, there have been tons of live shows where he uses that white falcon, and he and flea always have a special intro to the song. The most recent show I went to was in STL on January 15. He most definately used the Gretsch.
