  • That software was used to edit the Dark Knight.

  • Which is Better Media Composer or Xpress Pro and whats The difference?

  • @TrunxX69 is better media composer

the difference are some buttons some settings and some use...it say use?

  • I want avid so bad but it's so EXPENSIVE! I used it in high school and ENJOYED it so much.

  • try thiepiratebay

  • Avid aint fuckin cheap!

  • I use Avid Media Composer for my High school film class. Its a great program, yet very hard to master the effects pallette. I hate using the trim tool every time I try and half or double the speed of a clip, I wish Avid could just render the effect into the clip and go on with it, rather than have to trim it every time. Once you understand avid better, it works really well.

  • nice tutorial man, I've never been a fan of Avid, more a Premiere Pro guy but you seem to make it look so easy. I think I'll give Avid another go

    Cheers

  • this software has got to be expencive u know i have multi-media in school and we just finished learning how to trim i know how to split, insertclip, edit and other

  • fuuuuuuuu----ck this is difficult.i have this software the new ones. 5.7v i dont know where to start

  • i love the work flow in avid....jump in, jump out.....select your tracks, set your in out points, stand on your head, walk to the grocery store, pick up a 6 pack of beer. Wow and just like that, so amazing you cut 15 frames.

  • Expensive IT'S WORTHED?

  • I use a different version of AVID on the computers at my school. It's a good program but takes a while to get use to. I've been using it for a few months and still don't know every detail.

  • this seems like a good software, but it sucks a lot. Got three-four error messages and it required thousands of reboot. Even then, it failed to install.

    AVID YOU SUCK ASS!!

  • It's called "Not having the proper hardware". AVID is used by many professional studios and editors. It works fine.

  • It is your system... Do a background check before you make assumptions... Avid edits about 80% of movies and television. Is it Avid sucks or you suck?

    BoundlessProductions

  • not saying it sucks on editing, besides I do think Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro have higher percentage. It's stupid! I mean, seriously.. not one but four error messages complaining about my hardware. Why do I even bother trying this stupid program...

  • No actually once again get your facts straight. Final cut and premiere don't edit more. Avid has always been the best. Ever heard of media composer??? Nothing beats it for editing. Final Cut and Premiere are only easier to use. Trust me I have used all of them...

  • i see, so which is better for you? media composer or avid xpress pro or adobe after effects?

  • You can't compare media composer and after effects... If you want to compare media composer, xpress and premiere then we can talk...

  • Thanks for your response. Hmm, i see, maybe the reason why we can't compare media composer to after effects because maybe they have the same quality, am i right? However how about comparing media composer to xpress and premiere?

  • Media Composer is nothing like effects... Effects isn't for video editing... But the difference between xpress, premiere and media composer is not too much... Media composer is the program that movies are edited on. Very complex and hard to learn, but powerful. Xpress is just a dumbed down version of avid and premiere is just another video editor. Very fast if you need something done fast. And it works well with the other adobe programs which is a huge plus... They might take over

  • So...

Becouse your hardware is garbage you think Avid sucks?

    You are mentaly challanged...

If it complains about your hardware than "CLUE #1" it's your hardware that sucks JAG OFF!

I sugest you upgrade you primitive PC and quit whining when $h!t doesn't work.

  • mine works no probs. just havent started doing anything yet. sem to be a pretty much learning curve here

  • How to buy it ... Noo coins??

  • If you're a student, you can get Xpress Pro for $295 and Media Composer for the same price through Avid Educational Resellers.

  • no commercial software in the world is worth more than $100. Overpriced. Companies charge high prices because they can.

  • I can tell your not a professional in the industry by your comment. Avid is worth every penny, that is why it is and has been the industry standard. This is not commercial software, it is professional software.

  • That doesn't justify charging more than $100 for Avid, photoshop, windows, etc. Bought mine legit for more than I think it's worth, by the way, because what else can I do but let the software industry rape me? Don't really have a choice, do I? My only options are to get raped or be a pirate, and just because they are unethical doesn't mean I have to be.

  • Avid is a professional tool, the industry standard for more than 20 years. If you were just a freelance editor, standard rates are $250-$400 per hour depending on if the film is an indie or a feature. Avid it a tool and if you become a master you make a nice living using it. Take some classes and learn all the possabilities and AVID will make you money!

  • Like I said, I have Avid, I know it's the best, I know how to use it. I'm saying that in order to get jobs you need to own it, to own it you need to have at least $600, it's backwards logic. It should be cheap to buy for that rason and how much does it really cost to produce? I think the producers and programmers of software just want to pad their account because they can and not because they care about the men in the industry.

  • Forget about Avid and go Final Cut Pro. The only reason Avid exists is because union editors don't want to learn FCP and they want job security. Don't underestimate politics having a hand in Avid's iron grip in certain sectors of the film industry. There are mavericks out there though, like Walter Murch, The Cohen Bros. and David Fincher, who're embracing Final Cut Pro, because of its benefits.

  • Yeah, if you're one of the 400 or so people in the entire world who get to edit a feature film each year. Otherwise, you'll be making about $250 per day (tops). Most likely you'll be making around $150 per day and you won't be using Avid - you'll be using Final Cut Pro.

  • I know a lot of editors who have been out of college for a couple years and I don't know anyone who who gets paid like you suggest. Wait, I met some one this one time who got paid like that. The system works against you, and software companies actively take advantage of the public. $2,500 to buy Media composer for the first time? It's not worth that much by a long shot.

  • you live in a fantasy world

  • that was aimed at barshki btw

  • a little like the opening sequence of Pulp Fiction... Tim Roth and everything.

  • can you tell my which HD compression avid is opening ? i am using MPEG 2 HD

  • nice

  • yeah sexy VOICE
