@oafaloaf I haven't really had any serious issues with heat. With one card I had absolutely no trouble. With addition of a second one, the upper card now tends to max out at around 75 degrees, which isn't great, but perfectly safe. They didn't do so well in the Furmark test though.
@oafaloaf I would say no! I've owned 4 different xfx cards and the heat is not a problem! My first XFX Card was 7800 GT then the 9800 GTX later i bought a 6770 and now i run on this card and as i could remember it i've never had any kinds of trouble with XFX!
@Tsinepanos Because when two cards run in crossfire they alternate frames. This means that the frame buffer (VRAM) for each card must hold the same exact info. That being the case, VRAM does not double in CFX. Ergo, a pair of 2GB cards in CFX have a total of 2GB available VRAM.
@PCgamingTech So you have 2x2gb total 4 and you only able to use only the 2gb 1 gb per card i thing ? That does happen to every 2 gb card i know .. The 6970 in crossfire o think they can hold 4gb of vram ? Correct me if i am wrong
@Tsinepanos I have 4GB of total VRAM, but I can only use half of it due to the way crossfire works. So, any game I run can utilize 2GB of VRAM, which is a lot. A 6990 has 4GB VRAM, but only 2GB per GPU, so it can only use 2GB in games, just like my setup.
@PCgamingTech I search a little bit and what you are saying about ram is wrong . Try to download msiafterburner and press to see the memory usage . I have 2x5770 crossfire and while playing Bf3 i use 1.900 ram . From what you are saying i have only 1 usable ...how it possible to use 2 ....You can tell me that it shares the ram with the vram . That does not happen because it stays only arround 2 gb and doent take more that 2 gb . So i think you are wrong about the Vram .
@Tsinepanos I'm definitely not. You might not be looking at dedicated memory, or using a incorrect application. Some programs also display more VRAM than you have for some reason.
@Tsinepanos I can't open that, but it doesn't really matter. If you don't believe me on the VRAM issue, just Google: "does vram double in crossfire" and click the second link (yahoo answers). The asker has two 1GB 5770s just like you, and he asked if he'd have 2GB VRAM total. Obviously, the answers were all no.
@Tsinepanos If that is truly the case, then Afterburner is adding the VRAM on each card together. It doesn't make a difference though, because each GPU can utilize only 1GB.
