They were hard commercial pop/rock with an influence from mainstream grunge, a little traditional metal, glam and a little surf rock. They were vocal dominated in the vein of a California version of Candlebox, inasmuch as they could never be taken seriously as a heavy band. Higher on the metal spectrum than Trixter and Slaughter but lower than say Life of Agony (whitfields next singing gig).

There's someone here in Venezuela who LOVES Ugly Kid Joe since their America's Least wanted!!! I remember saw his cassette in a store and I really liked the face. Cat's in the cradle was the hit, but what I found was an excellent album, one of the best of those years. Still today I listen everyday UKJ and in my cellphone I had their songs like ringtones, hahaha... And my favorites are Panhandlin' prince, and the song Oompa! from Menace to sobriety album (an excellent album too). REALLY GOOD!

Their other songs got airplay, but nowhere near as much, and when grunge came along that was pretty much the end for bands like this for a while. So people born in the 90s probably never heard of the band and don't know to search for them. It sucks, but that's how it is.
