Got caught in some stuff like this coming through the straights into the Med. But that was on an amphibious assault ship. I cant imagine what this would be like for a cruise ship full of civilians. thats gotta be horrible

The problem was that the motors stopped working and Machines room started to be filled with water.... Captain said evacuate the machine room, the chief engineer refused the order and revived the motors so they could get rid of that site... The problem was that they run out of motors...

This happened February 14th 2005 while being operated by Spanish tour operator Iberojet. There were 700 passengers onboard. The ship was traveling from Tunis to Barcelona when it was hit by a huge freak wave about 60 miles from Menorca. The wave hit the bridge area and knocked out electronic equipment and also caused both engines to fail temporarily.

The ship has now been repainted white and is still operating as a cruise ship and is still called Grand Voyager.

Well... in 4 days I'm going to travel on Grand Voyager to Argentina and I tell you that I trust on it more than ever! If the cruiser did not sink off in a hurricane, it will not sink off the coast of south america! Lol.

according to reports, 800 passengers and crew were stuck on board after storms knocked out electroncs and all 4 engines. "The Grand Voyager sent out an SOS call early yesterday after a huge wave struck the ship, broke the windows of the control bridge and disabled the engines."

After nearly a day adrift, crew managed to restart 2 out of its 4 engines.

No injuries or casualties.
