Ironically, the original song (the one by The Beatles) was inspired by the funk bands (and such by Motown) and now, a funk band covers this song and fits perfectly.
MONSIEUR SAM QU' ELLE CHANSON MAGNIFIQUE COMPOSéE PAR LES BEATLES ET REPRISE PAR JOHNNY HALLYDAY "JE VEUX TE GRAVER DANS MA VIE" BRAVO EARTH WIND & FIRE SAM LE MUSICAL & SENTIMENTAL
@GLASSONION97 They took an amazing Beatles song and made into an amazing funk song.... respect all music. I'm a big Beatles fan, but an even bigger music fan.
saw EWF last night at Harrah's..best musical concert I have ever seen..period..Phillip Bailey was amazing and that drummer was just beyond out of this world..so much groove and funk, I cried during the show
While on the topic of Beatles covers, I just put up one of the most heartfelt Beatles tribs from the late Mackey Feary on my channel page. Man, I miss him....maybe one of the best talents out of the islands ever. (Right up there with Iz....who's also at the top of my favs list if ya wanna take a listen.) Cheers!
These guys are awesome musicians. Music...what is that? What happened to music kids...what did yall do with it? Got to get it back into your life I say.
This are professionals. The guitarplayer Sheldon Reynolds has a special soundroadie to make his different guitarsounds. I thought, where are his effectpedals???
Funny. Verdine didn't say that in their documentary. He said, "we should do it "the way the 'brothas' would do it" As far as I know, there were no brothas in Chicago.
@lyniseuk This is a nice cover and it's a whole lot better than trying to sound like the original, but as far as the *best* cover of a Beatles song goes, well, the name Joe Cocker comes to mind.
if you like a little bit of a jazzy tune yeah i would say so the beatles version was ok but this is better. bujt dont get me wrong the beatles still rock

It's dissapointing to hear these song that were made classic by Maurice White and not to hear him sing them in concert. Nice effort Phillip.

It's a great song but not the same without Maurice. He can barely talk anymore let alone sing.

The funniest part about this song is that when they arranged this version, their goal was to play it like Chicago would play it.

Yes after they picked up a Grammy for best vocal arrangement of this song in 1979.
