No,no Mr. Gainsay, you DON'T want to suggest lacquer to the keys, for there would not be much left to them after the chemical reaction that would take place there after....
(PS. I am the happy owner of a 50th anniversary Voyager, one of only 100 hand signed by Dr. Moog himself and of the last 50 off the assembly line ! That might be rare...)
@acousvnt It means that to a degree, it is possible to emulate the Minimoog with the Voyager, but in general and on average, the Voyager and the Minimoog have differing aural characters. Of course, that is not a value judgment... just accuracy!
@anonymusum Noone takes a legendary edition synth like that on stage. Wouldn't even play it, since it will rub off the autographs on the keys. Those autographs are priceless. I was thinking "no marc, don't play THAT key! it's autographed!" hehe
@Mainyard48 There may be some video of those signings, and I'm sure it will come out eventually. There are definitely pictures of the signings, and they can be found at The Bob Moog Foundation Facebook page! I should sign it? I'm not sure I merit being on anything Brian Eno signed... : ) but thanks!
Is there a hidden Marc Doty donation underneath a key somewhere? That would make it even more valuable.
It's almost as cool as the Fairlight CMI with every key signed by a famous 80's artist that used one.
And how mortally afraid were you to drop the synth as the autographs were piling up? :)
This is also the only Voyager review I've seen that explains that Spacing knob. I never figured it out the times I played a Voyager in a store. Excellent demo in itself.
@bytex666 Bitexion, you know me too well. : ) Let's just say that whilst I was carrying that thing around, it was like a holy relic. I was resistant to even letting the artists touch it! Yes, the sad thing about some aspects of Moog products is that the function isn't immediately discernible by the label. I had to actually RTFM to figure that one out. I've become kind of delighted by it, though... as it reminds me vaguely of the resonator on the PS-3100! Thank you, sir...
Lil Wayne signed it? O_o

All those signatures look just awful. Never would go on stage with a thing like that......

@bytex666
If it were the signatures of Bach or Schostakowitch etc. - but these guys ....
For example: Tangerine Dream. They hardly can play a C major scale in a fast tempo - and they are not the only ones on that list.

@bytex666 I am going to suggest that the winner put lacquer over the signed keys! : )

Interesting - thanks Marc...I bet you signed your old school desk, so why not just a little signature on a Voyager?

Thanks for the demo!
I''d like to have seen some video of the artists signing the Moog. You could have interviewed them as well. You'd be a great at it.
Oh, and yeah, you need to sign it too!

@pittster57 Well, if Liam had played at Moogfest, we would have nabbed him. : )

@eyaddarras I was terrified that I might! I was tempted to say "Well, Keith Emerson signed it, too... but I use that G a lot in demoing, and...."
