Out town(Small town in ohio with mabey 10,000 people in the county) was able to get 2 of these to an airshow. I got to the round that thing fires and HOLY CRAP, its like they are killing people with 2 liter bottles, at 70 rounds a second. It was an amazing aircraft to watch fly, and amount of control it has when close to the ground is amazing. There was also a B2-Stealth bomber. That was one quite beast until after is passed over, which then you get blasted by sound. Love our airforce.

@tcr6v1 The F-35 is probably beyond anything the USAF has come up with so far. But I still think the A-10 is going to be milked for all it's worth. Considering the numbers it's put up since being in service, I would imagine it's still got at least 10 more years on it.

Though this is a very old model of aircraft. If they souped it up with more of today's tech and re-dsigned a few things it could be a whole new ball game.

Sure, the F-18's fast, but it'd have to carry a heavier payload, an use more fuel.

@tcr6v1 The A-10 is designed for close air support (not as a fighter or bomber as much) and they tried to get rid of them a few years back but they didn't because the troops loved them so much. They save more ground forces than all the others combined. Plus you gotta love that cannon - Yikes!

the DU version, yes. Those are shells with depleted uranium which cna penetrate a T90 armor, and kill people inside. I think they don't use the DU bullets anymore tho, not sure

I can't remember what kind of rocket it was but the terrorists didn't exactly have the most updated weapons so for all we know the thing could have been 20 years old.

Always thought that the U.S. only sold its technology when they had something better. The U.K. only got Tomohawk Cruise Missiles a few years ago and they have been around for some time now, the Apache helicopter is sold to the U.K. and other European countries but without engines and radar systems. Well most of you need to consider that the U.S. is down sizing its defense budget, selling F22 Raptors to other countries, and also other highly advanced weapons systems, this is because we are broke as hell, so the this will level the playing field a bit, and considering that alot of our troops are overseas and we are in finacial ruin's, this would be the once in a lifetime oppurtunity for a country to attack us, its now or never for our enemies for sure.

Radar guided heat seeking missiles? They're two different things. The United States has yet to come against an enemy able to achieve air superiority, usually one of our first priorities is taking out their ability to fight in the air. We disabled the entire Iraqi airforce in a matter of a few days.

True. The Chinese have a huge standing army, but what good is that when the largest airforce in the world drops nuclear bombs, or carpet bombs them? Besides, US forces are within Asia already, and the conflict would not leak onto US soil, I presume.

This hypothetical conflict would be over quickly, since strategic and tactical positions would be taken out - something the "Taliban" does not have.
