@xshatteredxfatex Coyotes killed her and they think Tarra stopped them before the coyotes devoured Bella and she carried what was left of her body back to the reserve area. They found the remains next to the barn where they lived with other elephants and there was blood on Tarra's trunk. It's really sad. You know that Tarra is in deep mourning. That was her best friend.

This sanctuary and one in California were willing to take the lovely elephants from The Toronto Zoo. The zoo's board voted down the option, fearing the girls would be mistreated. Unbelievable. ..I think they feared their wallets would be mistreated.
They won't even tell us where Toka, Iringa and Thika are going, and there was a strong push from the public to place these old girls at one of the sanctuaries where they have room to roam and it's WARM.
Sad to say Bella was killed by a pack of coyotes. Tara went to find Bella, but arrived too late. When Tara's trunk was found bloody, it was realized Tara fought off the coyotes and carried Bella back to their favorite hang out spot. Tara is devastated. :'(
I want to see the follow up story where the elephant and the dog make sweet sweet dirty love on camera. I have seen chicks + dogs, guys + horses, and similar inter-species love making. But not between dog and elephant? not yet. They can start with some trunk foreplay, move onto the elephant entering the dog, and culminate with the ultimate money shot all over lasey. @randmnumber I'm not a fan of cliches, or tacky talk, but in this case, the reporter was Correct in saying "take a good look..." this story makes people look like the maggots that we are (no offense to maggots)---the only thing that's 'cheesy' is that your comment only focused on that and not the beauty of animals and their capacity for love...

I don't know what kind of people you hang around with, but the majority of people I know are good people who have just as much capacity to love as any animal. Yes there are assholes out there and a lot of prejudice in the world, but dont for a second think that this example of 2 animals getting along somehow makes us "maggots". What a horrible view of humanity you have! :(

@randmnumber Obviously you're too naive or just ignorant to know that while there are a few good people in the world--mankind is the 'sickest' of animals....maybe you just need to watch the news more often and/or read your history 101 books...then you may hold the same view as I do now. Once, I too believed in the 'goodness of people in general'...sorry, but now, I know too much about human behavior throughout history to know what I'm talking about...as far as you--ignorance is 'bliss'

Some animals have a great capacity for love, humans included. All living things can and do destroy each other and commit what we would describe as despicibale acts. We are the only animal that has evolved to gain the capacity to move past this barbaric way of life but we're not quite there yet. Self loathing wont help anything

A dog suffers a "spinal cord injury" at an elephant sanctuary but no one says how. I'm pretty sure they're trying to cover up that an elephant stepped on the dog. That wouldn't make this story as popular.

Anyone who says something stupid or inane about this relationship is truly disconnected from what life is really about. When you are old and someone from your non caring family stuffs you in an elderly care center never to be visited again then it will dawn on you what this video means.
